When laser stippling do you sand down the area before the laser stipples or does the laser do that as well?

the glock boxes are pretty close and the backstraps from G4 and 5
this is what i used, but havent seen them have any in a while it was very hard to get before but who knows store.otdefense.com/collections/stippling-products/products/chopped-factory-glock-frames?variant=35316124287125
box was ok, backstraps are decent
