My male shih tzu is really high energy and loves kids and other dogs. Grooming was a pain in the beginning but he's pretty comfortable with it now. I have him on a weekly schedule for baths 😊. He's never been aggressive with people or other dogs 🐕. Male and female shih tzus are just the sweetest little creatures ❤
I've had 6, 3 boys and 3 girls. All different in personalities. Best dogs ever. 5 lived to 14, 1 died at 11 from brain tumour. My aunts lived till 18. Males live to cuddle and lie on you and females tend to want to play but keep their distance most of the time. They all loved chicken and tuner.
😊Great dog. I have a female rescue, 3yr old. Very smart and sleeps next to me every nite. I've had many dogs through my life but she is the easiest. If you get one you will not be disappointed.👍👍
Both female and male shih tzus are worth having but too many males can be a mess if they are eying on a female to mate they are just like any other breeds that wants to be a dad for 1 female its up to you how to manage them
Sitting next to my male shih Tzu I've had for 11 years. He's mentally like a cat. I love him but I wouldn't get another male. Get a female and only if you have time to groom him. Seriously a shih Tzu is not for you if you don't like grooming dogs.
When my beloved dachshund was murdered by a Chow, I was devastated. Crushed. Destroyed. About two weeks later, I went to pick up my daughter. I was dragged into the room where a childʼs playpen sat, containing four puffs of fur, the litter. When I got closer to the playpen, one stopped playing. He jumped out of the pen and into my arms. Yes, an eight week old puppy jumped out of the childʼs playpen. Quite a feat. The human mother of the pups gave him to me. At first I refused; she was selling these puppies at $1,000. Reluctantly, I put the pup back, took my daughter by the hand and boogied out of there. Imagine my surprise when about two hours later the entire human family showed up at my door, with the pup. This time, once he was in my arms, he refused to leave. Several months later, I moved to a farm house 1,400 miles away. George loved that farm. To see him run, full out, was so beautiful. He was so happy. Unfortunately, we ended up in a fairly large city where my then roommate robbed me, taking everything, including George. I have never seen him again. But when I close my eyes and think of him, I remember that incredible jump and how happy he was with all that room to flat out run. He was fast! I vote, hands down, for a male. Losing George to a thief was heartbreaking. That was 22 years ago, and I still feel his loss. By the way, SPAY AND NEUTER.
He wasn't stolen. Roommate probably took him and dumped him somewhere. I personally can't stand those breeds. You owners are to blame cause you baby them nonstop. George is somewhere laying on the side of the road rotting away. Nobody would steal those dogs to keep. Nobody
We have two boys both very loyal and loving .

Yeah it's definitely time consuming and expensive if you have to take them weekly😮
I want this
It comes down to the willingness of the dog, gender has nothing to do with it.
I got male and female
My female isn't independent at all she always wants to be around me so that part isn't true at all
