Electronic Arts brings Blizzard's best-selling strategy game to the PlayStation and Saturn in this release. They've combined all the missions from Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and its expansion pack, Beyond the Dark Portal, into one package.
You take charge of either the humans and elves or the orcish hordes for control of the lands of Azeroth. Eventually you work through the dark portal and into the orcs' homeland. You take charge of either side as you work through more than 20 missions per side in the fight for survival.
New features for the console release include an auto-build option, where you can set a queue of units to be produced and the ability to select sixteen units at a time instead of the PC's nine.
This run by Flip (tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/Flip) plays through the Orcish Horde's Tides of Darkness campaign.

I don't think I've ever realized they made this for PSX. This TAS is a fun ride, save for load times.

Flip has some old videos on a different TAS channel from doing all 4 campaigns and they're hilarious. Though you're right, the load times on this version are atrocious... Edit nevermind it was this channel, looks like this is a reupload of the same old video; the human campaign and expansion and orc expansion videos are still up on this channel if you search for them.

I hate to say it, but this was underwhelming. The first 50 to 55 minutes don't feel like a TAS and are downright boring to watch. Unit management feels lackluster up until that point. It's only then that trick showcasing picks up and we get to see some really nice gameplay. All in all, this runs feels slow. The RTA of the PC version by Stu is 20 minutes faster and the level loading times on the PSX do not account for the majority of the difference. I hope this TAS will be redone with much better strategies.

The PC versions have access to the ultra-fast settings, which makes the game run 1.5-2x faster; no doubt that accounts for the alleged improvements.
