X3. I've gone through and rewatched this series about 10-15 times now. Every time I go through this episode I lose my shit and ball like a little boy. Both when Mike explodes at Stacey, and then again later when he's more calmly explaining his phone call w/ Matty to Stacey and what he'd gone through himself as a dirty cop. I don't even have to watch it. I can just be walking down the street and think about Mike yelling "My son wasn't dirty" and I lose it. Intensely powerful performing & writing.
Mike is one of the best written characters in TV history. I'm so glad we get more of him in this show.

You wanted a Mike episode? You got *THE* Mike episode! That whole last speech of his, but especially the “I broke my boy” line, just gets me every damm time!

This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire BB BCS universe.
I can TOTALLY see it being top 3 once I'm done with the show! It's probably my favorite from BCS so far!!!
Without any spoilers, my very favorite episode is yet to come.
There are some AMAZING episodes yet to come, but this is the one I keep coming back to.
Breaking Bad was driven by concept, this show is driven totally by character development.
Jonathan Banks came up with this idea about Mike's son himself during the filming of Breaking Bad... he told Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould that the woman you thought was his daughter was really his daughter in law, then he laid out this whole thing about his sons death to explain why he was in Albuquerque. They filed away the idea and used it 7 years later.
Oh WOW. That's crazy!!
When people ask about which is better, BB or BCS, that last scene is what I always think of first when I answer. BB was amazing, but that scene...
Plus I love that they're only this far into the series and they were already confident enough to put Bob Odenkirk in the backseat for so much of the runtime. They knew what they had with their cast and trusted that.
Ya it's hard because I already love both the shows in such different ways that it's hard to compare. I still think I would rank BB higher but not by much. But MAN this one definitely has some serious strengths and they obviously knew what those strengths were!!! That last scene with Mike was INSANELY GOOD.
I can't give my opinion without spoiling so I will leave it for the finale 😂 but to keep it vague... They're both equally the best!
This episode wrecked me when I first saw it. That final scene...that line, "I broke my boy." To see Mike that vulnerable absolutely wrecked me. Just goes to show how good an actor Jonathan Banks is.
Ya that scene was incredible but THAT LINE. AND HIS VOICE CRACK WHEN HE SAID IT. 😫💔😭😭😭😭
@@KelseasComments I never thought Mike would make me cry. He was always portrayed as such a hard ass in Breaking Bad. And to see this hard man break, even for a moment, how can you not feel that? You are in for quite the journey with this show, and the fact that these actors in this show for the whole run despite getting nominated for Emmy awards never won a single one in the entire series is fucking criminal. You'll see what I mean as you watch each season.
That's absolutely ridiculous!! Award shows are total bull crap.
This show is very much about how BOTH Jimmy & Mike slowly “Break Bad”.
Just remember, Mike is a stone killer and a criminal.
He's a complex man. 🤣

@@KelseasComments As far as period pieces go I'd rate it highly, but it's very noticeable that they were forced to wrap everything up in the second season as the show had already been cancelled at that point. Primarily due to astronomical cost overruns due to the *massive* sets they built lol.

Mike blames himself for his son’s death. As far as he is concerned he’s life only has one purpose now-to make sure he provides for his granddaughter and his daughter in law. Nothing else matters.

I think at heart, Nacho is a decent guy but things happened. Hope he treads very carefully wrt that vile creature, Hector! Great to see Jimmy's film crew, Rag, Tag and Bobtail are back. Haha I love the girl's naive enthusiasm - such a sweetheart. Chuck's spiralling downwards I think. Good on Howard for trying to help - another decent guy at heart!

What an episode and what a performance from Banks! The "I broke my boy" monologue is so good, and yet, this episode isn't even in my top 5 of the show. That's how good this show is. I love Breaking Bad, but I honestly think BCS is slightly better than Breaking Bad. The acting of BB is mostly carried out by the leads, but in BCS everyone, even some of the best performances of the show, are from the supporting actor, so I give the acting aspect to BCS. The storytelling goes to BB because it's better paced, especially in the first two seasons of BBvsBCS; the writing is just as good for both shows; the cinematography is easily BCS and it's not even close; the antagonist BCS; the characters BCS; the editing, score, etc. I found your channel because BCS and I are liking you so far. I would love it if you watched Succession; it's arguably the best TV show of all time.
Unfortunately I've seen succession!!! But I absolutely loved it and agree it's top tier television!! Would have been fun to do for the channel but I watched it with the discord!!!
@@KelseasComments Damm! Then, now that Succession is over, The Bear is the best TV show currently. If you have also watched it, then maybe Mr. Robot, because it is one of the greatest TV shows of all time; or Dark; The Leftovers; Barry; Hannibal; or Severance.

@@KelseasComments Then I hope you do Mr. Robot eventually, because it's up there in my top 5 TV shows of all time. In terms of cinematography, it's up there in the top 3. The cinematography of Mr. Robot is gorgeous-better than BCS, BB, Succession, and The Bear, for me. The Leftovers cinematography is probably up there too. And Raimi Malek's performance is one of the best in TV history, and the season finale is one of the best and most rewarding, but if you can't handle slow pacing, then that show is not for you. It's also longer, so Severance is only one season, and you'll be caught up when S2 comes out. Also, another show with insane cinematography, and the plot twist are crazy. Another one of the best TV shows right now.
