I wonder if anyone actually finished this game in the arcade back in the 80s by continuing to spend money to play it? I'd venture to say less than ten people in the world pulled it off.
Indeed, very few people would be able due the unreasonable, unbalanced difficulty and hard access to arcade machines. Still, someone that were friends with the arcade owner or the arcade owner themselves could play the mahcine on free mode and manage to learn all the exploits to complete the game, then tell to others. That to my knowledge is the only way a game like this could be completed wihtout having an infinite supply of quarters and time to be hanging around on the arcade room.
Oh my god! i am at 1:30:00 and Mike already seems to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown! I can't believe he continued playing for 3 more hours after this! lol
I keep coming back to this stream..I've watched it several times..it's probably my favorite one..so many hours of dedication and just entertaining to watch plus I've always loved this game
The game begins with Mike playing at his best Then he gives a glance to the chat Then he says "Thank you (insert funny name) for suscribing to twitch prime" Then Mike is killed Then he goes mad as he is killed by not paying attention Then he gives a glance to the chat again Then he says "Thank you (insert funny name) for suscribing to twitch prime" Then Mike is killed Then he goes mad as he is killed by not paying attention Then he gives a glance to the chat And this goes on and on and on And almost 5 hours later, with his mental health at stake, he manages to finish a game that needs all the concentration of the world.
Watching this makes me feel better that I've been having a hell of a time with Ghouls and Ghosts on the PC Engine. I can't even beat the first boss. It's insanely difficult and unforgiving. You get 2 or 3 continues and that's it. You can't even adjust the difficulty, which is insane, to begin with.
2:11:39 lol that was typical arcade game BS there “Oh shit he’s made it past the Devil and still got his armour, quick make that skeleton suddenly be able to jump the length of the screen, we need more quarters”.
I really have to find some opportunity to watch all of these videos in one sitting some time; this is one of my favourite arcade games, and it is funny to hear Mike rage, which he will obviously do a whole lot while playing this game.
I remember the original arcade version of “Ghosts ‘n Goblins”, but I remember the NES version, and it was bad. The arcade version was developed by Capcom, while the NES version was not developed by Capcom, it was by another company known as Micronics. Micronics developed a series bad and horrendous arcade ports for the NES including “1942” by Capcom, “Athena” by SNK, “Ikari Warriors” by SNK, “Ikari Warriors 2: Victory Road” by SNK, and “Elevator Action” by Taito.
Yeah I think outside emulate now these really old ones are mainly all in private collections and go for a couple of g’s each when you can find them. Still emulation but if you want a more arcade feel, arcade 1up have a cab with GnG on now.
The best I can figure on those red devils is the less random jumping and shooting you do...the better. Your movement seems to dictate his. The goal should be to get him on the ground charging for an easy kill. No swooping or shooting from outside. Wait for him to go up then go toward him and under him then get outta the way. It seems to make him drop and charge. Thats the best I can do for dealing with that mental RNG they have.
So if this is the "Arcade Version" what type of equipment is he playing it on? by the thumbnail, I was expecting to see him sitting on a bar stool actually playing a true arcade machine.
@@tbirum I highly recommend Final Burn Alpha for arcade games when it comes to recording, probably one of the better emulators for that. Mike tends to use it a lot for arcade games.

it's crazy watching people play insanely hard games that you have mastered. stage 2.5 where u have to fight 5 gargoyles i thought it was impossible...but messing around with diff. patterns when u fight them u find out you can beat each one very easy if u stay on the ground and make them come to you or u walking at them. also where he asks about the hidden armour i found that like my first spin through the board. im always jumping around to find the hidden gems.

Just got Nintendo Online on my Switch and in tribute to the nerd, I played ghosts 'n goblins first and much like young nerd got my ass handed to me, it was great.
It's obviously not possible to win this game without both being great at it and wasting hundreds of dollars in quarters - it is chock full of unavoidable deaths.
Hey Mike the red demons in ghosts n goblins will rise up and come down and and attack you And the rise up behind you... Afterwards they will come down to your level and do a weird back and forth dance before staying on that level where it makes it easier to kill them if you have the dagger
This is so utterly strange to me... both versions of this game that I've played, Wii VC and Capcom Collection vol 2 for PS1, both on level 6 have first ONE unicorn at the start, not two like Mike is fighting here, then after the dragon, there are TWO ogres on the left side, not just one. I've gotten to that point on both normal and "easy"(seriously, what is different?) and there are still two, yet this LP and just about every other I've seen has only one. It is IMPOSSIBLE when there's two, you can't get 10 shots off fast enough!
Enemies @ 2:31 look like a burrito butt with demon rolled up in it l0l... And burrito cat pics came to mind ofcourse... And idea to change sprites to it too..hehe.. :)
I love the acarde version of gouls and goblins so many quarters sucked in this masterpiece that I was banned from the store next to my school they put a cop to guard the store and stupid me would get caught fun days
Funny enough, the Famicon version also requires a code for continue (hold right, press A or B 3 times, then Start). I think both versions are quite challenging, the Nes and the Arcade. What I found that makes the Nes harder is that the monsters have a much more random patern, some bosses are imune to certain weapons, random monsters show up at a much higher and faster rate, and Satan can not be damaged while his wings are closed. On the other hand, on the arcade version weapons are random (and quite rare) drops, he dragon is faster and has a harder patern to follow and the Red Arremer can be a nightmare if you don't know how to properly beat it. *Edit: I did some research and turns out that the US version is much harder than the Japanese Version. In the japanese version there are only one unicorn on stage 6, and the Satans take 4 hits each. The US version has 2 unicorns and the Satans take 8 hits each!! And they are much more unpredictable as well. Also, speaking about versions, on the console side, the US version is easier. The frequency the game runs on the Japanese Famicom version makes it that your rate of fire is slower, so taking fast enemies like the Ogres are much harder. Also there are much more enemies poping up, like ghosts and little devils, on the Japanese version. So if you want to beat the hardest, borderline broken versions of each game, play US Ghosts n Goblins on Arcade, and Makaimura on Famicom.
This is one of the most horrifying descents into madness I have ever seen. And part 2 goes on for 7 1/2 hours at this part!!??
I know right? I've really hit the jackpot with this three part series of Mike going crazy over this game!!
