Just started updating my presets to RC6, and I already love the new release. The addition of dropdowns, an always-on-top editor, password and XSplineNextMatID is exactly what I've been dreaming of. Thank you, guys!
And a small feedback: It would be nice to have an ability to limit Array's Material ID not only by single ID or Less/Greater, but also by range or array of ID's, e.g. [1,2,3,7,8,12,15] or [1-3, 4-7]. (I'm building something gigantic now and the absence of this feature breeds numerous identical arrays that only differ in material ID =D)
@@vosmibit You'll be glad to know that's in RailClone 6 too! Here's a bit more detail from our blog: To support the ability to add Tags dynamically, RailClone 6's Numeric and Constant nodes now have a new String type. In addition to working with User Defined values, they can also be used to create a comma-separated list or a range for use with the Generator's Limit by ID feature.
That's great and all and it's good to see a new release, but I think RC needs to address a few things. 1. Speed and optimisation, I find I will do everything I have to to avoid using RC in scenes now. 2. The libraries are very USA focused and styled. I am still shocked that people aren't making and selling their RC arrays, I have only found maybe 2 companies who do that and I think that probably speaks to my third point.... 3. It's great to have the level of complexity that you have in the plugin but I would estimate that the average artist who uses RC in a scene uses maybe 5% of the plugins total toolset/potential/complexity. I honestly think you need to reassess usability over new features.
Thanks for the feedback. This release marks only the start of a new initiative to significantly improve the quality and range of library assets designed to lower the barrier to entry. We realise this is important so expect much more to come! We appreciate that RC has a steep learning curve, and we're trying to make style creation easier without compromising the power. Things like RailClone Slicer and the many UI improvements in this release should make it much easier to create your own styles. We'll also release templates soon that users can use as a springboard for their own assets. We've always prided ourselves on being customer focused so rest assured we'll continue to make RC more accessible. Cheers!
@@itoosoft Thank you, I think this is probably the right direction to go in. The learning curve is very steep and while a lot of companies can have a RC specialist who can take the time to go deep into it I think a lot of people really struggle, especially in smaller companies. I think the learning part of RC needs a look at. Pauls streams are a great resource but a comprehensive course would help a lot of people.
how do you manage to outdo yourselves every time? There are at least 20 changes in here that I have thought at one time "that would be nice." Killer job and thanks so much!
yes as @tripzorz said, it's hard to get what you want easily, you have to search for solutions for simple tasks or unexpected results, especially the "Compose" Operator, its painful to work with :), and no transform for the pivot while RC is heavily related to it! (Except the segment bounding box, ofc). Quote from the (Compose) Help page: Tips on moving segments. To move an object to the left, adjust the preceding segment's right padding To move an object up or down adjust the segment's Transform>Fixed>Translation>Z value To control the spacing between the Compose object and the next item of geometry, adjust the right padding of the final Segment node used in the Compose node inputs. To rotate a segment use the Segment>Transform>Rotation values.
Looks great. Does this version do automatic intersections for roads yet? You had to make them manually before and it eats up a lot of time to setup. Ie if splines cross can it put intersection geo there etc
I wish you guys foucs more on updating the library, it is missing some baisc models like windows with different styles ( not curtain walls ). Also, I love the marker feature, I think it would not be hard for you guys to make a library with marker feature that makes modeling walls, doors, windows and openings procedural and fun < a separate paid library maybe?
We are working on it indeed. Following these new 5 libraries coming with this release, our plan is to revamp the whole of what's included in the plugin, plus new material.
If only I have nodes to create procedural geometries, not only clones. I think it would be doable to control within RC the parameters of 3ds Max solids.
If you guys manage to integrate this with BIM protocols, Revit etc, youll conquer the world. Good job.

Very good changes and very promising assets, congratulations!

Vi el webinar que hicisteis junto a School-ing y me parece impresionante todo lo que estáis consiguiendo. Enhorabuena
Gracias! Como verás tenemos programados dos más. No te los pierdas :)

I'm afraid not in this release. It's on our wish list, but it requires deep changes to the core of the plugin.
@@itoosoft Understandable, big fan of your plugins and have been a customer for years. Good to hear it's on your radar!
Great update!! 😍
Please tell me, what is the name of the musical composition?
ok, i am just a hobbyist, but I like your stuffs, any extra discount for forest pack user to get railclone for the first time?

Nice, but only for Autodesk!
