We had Sling but they raised their prices for both the base service and the News add-on. Then Apple followed suit. By the time we also added Frndly just to have The Weather Channel (which is a must for me), and considering that we didn’t have locals through Sling, it just made sense to go back to RUclips TV and cancel the other services. I’m not happy with RUclips TV pricing but at the moment they deliver the best value compared to others. We’ve just accepted that from time to time, we should evaluate options and go with whomever has the better deal for us. That’s the value of cord cutting; no long term commitments and freedom to sign up for or cancel services when we want.
I just dumped sling after 1 year. Now have: 1, YT ❤my favorite watch it about 75% of the time. 2,OTC about 40 channels here In nyc. 3 Optimum 4, 200 our favorites dvds and vhs. Total monthly Internet $38.00 YT remove commercials $9.00 Monthly $47.00😎
Did you ever have problems with your Airtv 2 or storage bank for locals? Mine was fine for 3 months now I keep having problems with local recording. I switched power banks and nothing same error code. Getting really tired of this.
I cut the cable, buy hbo for 15.99 a month, PBS for 9.99 (?). I bought a mohu leaf and I use youtubetv. I use all the other freebies like frndly, roku, and the internet price where I live for cox unlimited is about 90
Freevee is one of the best things out there. If you don’t have that you should look into it. They have a fantastic selection. The graphical interface is also wonderful. Much better than Roku.
My biggest complaint is the DVR feature; when something is recorded, it's thrown into your library along with every other episode and every season of that same show, so you have to painstakingly scroll through the entire history of that show to manually hunt for the DVR'd content. I don't understand why RUclips TV doesn't give you a separate listing of your DVR'd content, apart from all the on-demand episodes of the same show. When I'm trying to find a DVR'd version of a show and it's mixed somewhere randomly within the 25 existing seasons of 18 shows per season, it's maddening trying to find it. And of course watching a DVR'd version of a show is the only way to not be force-fed 9 commercials in a row over 7 different commercial breaks.
Honestly, because of your videos, I opted to cut the cable chord a few months ago and went with RUclips TV. Still getting used to the few additional steps needed to get to actual watching, nevertheless no regrets so far. Still lots to learn though so thank you for continuing to present these videos. To the point and informative.👍🏻

I switched to RUclipsTV from U-Verse a few months ago and I love it. I agree with most of the complaints regarding no channel numbers, not being able to delete shows from DVR, etc. On the flip side, I’m not a sports guy so I’m pretty happy with the channel selections on the base plan, and of course I’m happy about the fact that I’m paying half of what I was paying for U-Verse.
Not deleting programs doesn’t bother me. It’s unlimited space. I’m using it to record and store all my favorite shows even if I’m not watching them. I like the idea of having all these complete show libraries without having to manage space.
@@DrGameloveI feel the same way! It’s UNLIMITED STORAGE so it’s ok to have complete show libraries if you want. I don’t get the complaint about wanting to record/delete specific episodes at all

We have dish tv and I complained about the cost to my oldest son and he said that he and his brother would figure something out. The next day my younger son came with a new smart tv and set us up with RUclips tv. Still trying to figure it out, but so far it’s good.
I mainly use it on a Nvidia Shield. - Without channel numbers, need a faster was to get to a channel other than scrolling - Scheduled recordings has no real way to tell what time something is coming on or how long it is. - Scheduled recordings there is no easy way to tell if a show that's scheduled is new or if it's a rerun. - Bug, resuming a paused recording will sometimes resume in the wrong spot. Many online complaints. - Bug, watched shows sometimes come back into the New In Your Library section. Sometimes they disappear again on their own, other times you have to mark them as watched in the Windows app. - While I've gotten used to navigation, I don't think I could get my senior parents to do this. I think YTTV needs to look at Tivo and the ease of use that made it so popular. I know you can't and wouldn't want to make a clone, but you'd find features that could be brought over.
Good stuff. My “complaints are simple. Give me a previous channel option. Having to back out find new new channels then same to go back. I made my custom live guide so I’m good. Yes the library sucks. Enjoy your vids.
I just started this service because Hulu kept cutting off the end of my shows and RUclips tv has a couple of channels that Hulu did not. That being said, there is NO rhyme or reason to whether a show I add to my library is in the DVR mode or the VOD mode. Consequently, some shows have commercials that I cannot skip. Videos say to always choose the DVR option and never the VOD option. That’s all well and good but I never get the chance! That option never comes up! I’m still in my free trial so I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing. Thanks for listening!
My biggest issue is the audio falling out of sync. It's intermittent but frequent. It's been a problem since they introduced support for 5.1 audio. Happens on multiple TVs in my house.

I wish that you could choose for each show to either record "all episodes" or "only new episodes, and then have those show up in your library. Instead what happens is only new shows show up in your library (even though the older shows record anyway). Some shows are broadcast on another network first (Discovery+, BBC), so when they air on the channels I receive (Food Network, BBC America), I never see them show up in my library - RUclipsTV doesn't think they're new shows. But they're new to me!
I cut the cable early this year and haven't looked back. The problem is that there are a lot of trees behind my home where I have to put my antenna, and I don't have the option to put it outside, so I have it in an upstairs window. During the summer, I had a hard time picking up certain channels reliably, so I tried all of the big players - RUclips TV, FUBO, and Hulu Live. I have rather specific tastes, and FUBO was the only one to cover all my desired channels (RUclips TV the fewest). My problem is that I couldn't justify paying for any of these, since at most I only cared about a quarter of the channels, and paying that much to pickup the one local station I watched regularly wasn't a good option. I have been much happier piecing together different streaming options and changing the subscriptions when I run out of things to watch on one of them.
Excellent video and information again! Much of this reflects my comments in the past. We're teetering on canceling it but we still need access to ESPN Provider credentials and I prefer the both live and DVR options. The reason it's so expensive and it's convoluted with so many channels is because of all these anti-consumer mergers which don't seem to be slowing down. I canceled all of the RUclips TV add-ons and instead went directly to HBO MAX, Showtime, etc and the primary reason is I got sick and tired of having to redo the credentials every few weeks on every every TV most of which have three different streaming devices. However, most importantly, if you pay in many cases a year in advance, you can get a significant discount. RUclips TV offers no such discount, I assume they think that you're going to cancel them at will. I still in retrospect. Can't believe that I had all those add-ons in some cases for years. For my mother, I have her set up with DirectStream TV running on a Roku because for whatever reason that was the easiest for my 85-year-old mother to adjust to. It's basically a traditional cable TV and most senses. Anyway, I look forward to your next video. Take care.

I have a couple of minor issues with RUclips tv, but they're definitely not deal killers. FIRST: The DVR issues that you mentioned. SECOND: They don't offer an add-on which includes the missing Discovery channels like AHC, Destination America, Science Channel, etc. As far as the RSNs, I really don't care one way or the other about them, but I don't want to pay more for them. Like I said though, these are not deal killers for me. IMO RUclips tv is still the best PREMIUM service.
For those who want a full cable like experience, combining RUclips TV and Philo will give you these extra channels for a total cost of $90 a month. Well worth it in my opinion!
@@highspec_tech90 Back when RUclips tv was $49.99 and Philo was $20.00 I used to get them both, but when the prices went up it started costing $100.00 when tax was included, so for now I just get Discovery Plus with RUclips tv.
I wish YTTV had a 2-button commercial skip like Philo offers on many of its channels. Also, in some situations I find it difficult to see where in a recording I am (current time position). As I recall, this varies whether you're playing back a show that has fully recorded versus playing back one that is still recording. Another thing is that YTTV often starts playback a minute or two into a recording rather than starting at the actual beginning.
Re the second point (playback missing first minute or so): I think a problem is that some channels don't stick strictly to on-the-hour-and-half-hour timing. For example, "Jeopardy" usually starts at 6:59 or even 6:58, not 7:00--ABC apparently wants to add commercial time to a very popular show.
@@elainechubb971 In my case the recording is complete, but the playback on my Roku often starts a minute or two into the recording. I have to rewind to the beginning.
I am not going to lie....I love RUclips TV...... I tried Sling TV and I thought that sucked.......I tried Hulu Live TV and that was ok too......RUclips TV for my situation is great.....i know its gone up in price a few times since I have had the service but it is STILL way better than cable and I would recommend to anyone who is looking to save $$$
I looked into Sling and was shocked at how expensive it is once you choose the channels you want. So that didn't happen. Had Fubo for football last season and it was great
@@marketbuy if you actually like that option then that's definitely a great thing....that is not something that I am interested in and that is not gonna sway me away from RUclips TV. I am glad that Fubo does offer a feature like that to separate them from the others though...I know plenty of people that would like that feature
As always, an excellent video, but I can't believe you didn't mention about the screen freezing after fast forwarding ! Aaaaahhhhhhhhhh! So glad I cut the cable thanks to your videos.
I mentioned this on one of your other videos. The channel logos on the left side of the channel guide are too small and difficult to see when sitting on my sofa from the back of the room. They need to be bigger, especially for those of us who wear glasses. Also, there is no program description for each television show, only the name of the episode. That is very disappointing. These two shortcomings of RUclips TV seem like a common sense easy fix. Comcast does an excellent job with their program descriptions within their cable guide.
Program descriptions were added with the new live guide. You can see them in this video. As you scroll down the guide, the description at the top changes. Do you still have the old guide?
@@MichaelSaves I had an older Apple TV streaming box which would not show the program description. I just bought a Roku Express 4K streaming box and the program guide shows the description up at the top on the left side. Thank you.
I signed up for their free trial yesterday and noticed that their Hallmark schedule seems to be ahead about an hour. I entered the correct zip code and other stations are in line (so far). I thought that was bit strange. I'm used to the spectrum tv app and there are things RUclips tv can emulate The option to designate a startup station (this might exist but I'm not seeing it so far) The ability to see an "info" page during an episode or movie, which tells me things like cast, all air times, etc. Using the left and right arrow (on roku remote) separate functions instead of rewinding and fast forwarding Setting favorites on tv instead of on mobile or laptop RUclips tv seems to require few more clicks to get to where you want to be compared to the spectrum app.
The only thing I can’t stand is the channel quality. I had cable and all channels were at 1080p. Really want RUclipsTV to update the channel quality and move away from 720p.
It's a little weird; as I've added other streaming services, I'm watching RUclips TV less and less. I use to DVR a couple of shows each week but more of those are becoming available via streaming services. The main reason for RUclips TV is to get my locals on the TV, PC, and smartphone and to be able to record from the locals. Even the recordings aren't that important because of Fox shows for example being on Hulu, CBS shows being on Paramount+, and NBC shows being on Peacock. We really only use it for severe weather coverage... but it's nice to have it on all those other devices. There are also a few live network shows throughout the year that we like to watch and might not be available on streaming services: the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest (worst named show EVER), the Rose Parade, the Independence Day concert and fireworks from Washington DC, etc. None of these are huge deals and we're likely watching most of them live which I could do with an antenna. I don't have Discovery+ because I have the Discovery Channel through RUclips TV, but if HBO Max (or "Max" or whatever they're going to call the combined services) has Battlebots the same day it airs like Discovery+ currently does (and AT&T fiber lets me keep getting it free with my internet subscription), that will be one more nail in the live TV coffin. It's tempting to total up the prices for the standalone services that offer individual locals and see if it would be cheaper to upgrade all the ala carte services instead of using RUclips TV. Nothing against RUclips TV, they do a fine job of what they're doing... I just may be outgrowing a multi-channel live streaming service. The other option, even though we can have severe weather any month of they year, would be to just subscribe during "storm season." The only thing I wish RUclips TV had that it doesn't is the History Channel. Other than that, I feel like they cover every channel I could want in a bundle. I don't seem to have access to all of their current shows or episodes through other services, and so when one of my favorite shows returns I'll probably need to re-subscribe to Frndly for the season.
I didn't try all the different streaming services--just read a lot of reviews and compared channel lineups. Did pay for Peacock during the Olympics, because I thought I'd get more coverage (but in fact it wasn't that wonderful). I get MLB TV ("my" team is out of market since I've relocated) and Acorn TV, and otherwise don't do add-ons because there is so much to watch anyway! YTTV is the only one that carries my PBS local channel live, and it has Turner Classic Movies, which I love. Let's face it, both free OTA TV and cable have a slew of ghastly channels (shopping, preaching, phony "reality" shows), and on the whole YTTV doesn't. It is also very easy to edit the channel lineup to remove what one never watches and put one's favorites up at the top.
Same here. There’s plenty of coverage for most things now with Apps now including major local broadcast channels. I couldn’t justify the extra 80 bucks a month for RUclips TV. That’s nearly a thousand bucks a year… 👎
Hello Michael, as a new RUclipstv subscriber my biggest complaint so far is the fact that you can't talk to a live person/representative. I have an issue with Max...I signed up to receive Max when I subscribed to YTtv and a few days later I received an email where YT tv was going to give me 4 months of Max free on them. I would like to contact a live representative to resolve this issue but can't at this time. Thanks for listening to me while I rant.
Picture quality is my main gripe, especially on dramas with dark scenes. Very pixelated. I also wish they would change the name. Even changing it to the acronym “YTTV” would be better, so I don’t have to keep explaining to folks that it’s not the same as RUclips.
Great vid. I really am enjoying youtube TV. Mainly I wish there was some sort of way to go to the next channel and back, like a back feature. With Direct stream I was able to change channels without having to go to the live guide.
Yes, DIRECTV STREAM makes it very easy to change channels. With YTTV, you can click down a few times for the last channel. Something else I could have included!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! For ALL your RUclips tutorials. Isn't the current program $45 credit (up to $450 a year) when you refer a first time RUclips TV subscribers and you are an active RUclips TV base plan subscriber? They make you work for a discount. With UNLIMITED DVR space, does first run/rerun really matter? Our devices show our Library by Season and Episode! Easy to see current and old episodes. Reordering the Live TV grid makes it easy to scan our most watched feeds. Not to mention the Home screen provides easy access to most watched. I'm I the only one that pauses LIVE TV (8-10mins on 30min show/15mins on 1hr/more for longer) so commercial breaks don't matter. Just FF! I have a Roku Ultra on HDMI 1, my laptop on HDMI 2 so I can bounce between live feeds/live-DVR and watch something while pausing! Crazy!
I’m shocked that they haven’t made it so you can easily get a TV episode description on your DVRd shows. Other services have that figured out but RUclips TV doesn’t seem to think that’s a problem.
At first I hated the way RUclips tv had the user change channels. I'm getting used to now, but really wish there were channel numbers to jump to a channel directly without going through menus . I always wish they had a button to go back to the previous channel.
Not a big deal but my only complaints about the live guide is when I go to it, it will start at the first channel on the lineup and I’ll need to scroll all the way down to continue from the channel I’m watching. Once you get to the end of live guide it does not loop back around to the top. And lastly I’m always curious about the original air date of syndicated shows I’m watching. RUclips TV does not show it along with a brief description of the episode like Direct Streaming does.
Hey there, I love YT TV, however there is room for improvement. I subscribe to their 4K as well as base plan and now added NFL package as of today. Several of the shows that say they are 4K ARE NOT in 4K. Very misleading. 1080p shows highest for many that say they are in 4K. The lack of A&E disappoints me too but not enough to switch services. Live Guide is not good either. Jump To is needed for sure. All in all, love YT TV especially with unlimited DVR!
Fubo is my go to as I have Apple TV and it’s not even close. I had so many issues with yttv with the screen being behind the audio being my biggest issue. I haven’t had one problem with fubo and the multi view on Apple TV for sports is a game changer.
wow, that is so weird, i mean regular youtube that is free doesn't have the audio delay issue, but when it comes to their TV it does? sounds like they need to hire another software person to fix that shit lol. i forgot about Apple as i don't like Apple, but when it comes to the race to who will win the streaming race, it's between youtube, Apple, Amazon, the funny thing is youtube could win as they have the largest infrastructure, but they are losing because they can't offer both the expected quality and they are too expensive in comparison to Amazon, but i have no idea what Apple offers because i usually hate Apple products, they are just too restrictive in most cases and that's my number 1 reason why i stay away, number 2 is usually because they are too expensive. right now when it comes to overall quality and choices, and prices, it's Amazon, and i'm not even a fan boy of any of these services, i just see what they have to offer and come to the conclusion that they are the best in what they have to offer regular people which is the majority population all around the world. but even Amazon has plenty of room to improve here, their prices have gone up since the past few years and this was before inflation, back when the economy was doing great, maybe they anticipated the virus because they were in on it or something, but they raised their prices during a time when the economy was doing great so whatever... you see a lot of other streaming services are struggling right now, this includes Disney HBO, STARZ, hulu paramount which was purchases recently because their struggling, many have opted into working with Amazon as separate packages deals that are added onto memberships to the users discretion but through Amazon's infrastructure, because they can handle it no problem. my point is, eventually one of these platforms will work with all of these services, and because of Amazons structure, i believe they will end out on top of all of these services because they offer everything that people expect and offer the better prices and benefits in the end as they are also a store, it's like when people choose to go to costco and also get their gas as well, it's because it's still cheaper to use costco because they offer everything else a person needs as a service.
I personally loved the old live guide with the pictures and bold text. I don’t care what is showing three hours from now so showing info with large text and pictures seemed much more efficient to scroll through to me. Wish there was a way to toggle back to the old layout
Hi Alex I just switched from cable to RUclips TV because it resulted in a monthly savings of $75. I like RUclips TV the service is reasonable at $65 per month offering all of the programs I enjoy watching. The included DVR recording works great and I like the fact I don't have to do any maintenance. When I opened RUclips TV on my Vizio TV with Smartcast the following message appeared "RUclips TV no longer supports this device". Based on this statement I purchased Chromecast with Google TV and very happy I made the purchase. Now when I turn on the TV I am on RUclips TV and don't have to scroll throw many apps that I will never subscribe to. RUclips TV is not perfect no streaming service is but after re configuring the guide I have no complaints.
I switched from cable to YTTV and love it. Is it perfect, no but I get almost all the channels I want at cheaper costs. One issue is the clock. I read they put a clock on the guide but so far it has not shown up on mine. I do have the new guide which is much better.
I tried Fubo, RUclips TV, Philo and Sling (the Blue package). RUclips TV was definitely my favorite but I ended up sticking with Sling due to the cheaper price. Instead of a month to month plan, I wish these cable alternative services offered the option of annual plans.
I had RUclips tv also It was a good deal for 50 a month plus I got the Yankees They got rid of the Yankees and started jacking up the price I got rid of it and got sling tv instead Works fine and I don’t miss not seeing Yankees games
Yes, I agree with the bargain pricings only for new customers. That is the same way Cable TV subscribers also are treated. I was with a cable TV venue in the past for over 9 years, yet they would not offer any discount bargains to me - but the rates just kept going up. Reason I didn't immediately do cable TV switching back then was I had a ton of locations that had my email address and didn't want to go through the pain changing all of them. I see You Tube TV is doing the same strategy with suckering in new people to subscribe. Then after your term is up, you start paying full high prices. I call that Subscribe and Bait tactics. I didn't like RUclips TV for other reasons, so I dropped them before my initial trial period was over (this was many years ago I tried them). Take care.
It's not an ad. I pay for all of the products and services that I test. None of my content is sponsored. RUclips TV is my favorite live TV service and I don't even have an affiliate link for them.
First, thank you for your informative videos with helpful advice, which I found most useful when exploring streaming options. I am in a somewhat unusual situation because I watch YTTV on my laptop. I have a non-smart TV and as I live alone don't have to consider having a picture big enough for a roomful of people! I think I must be skipping the problems of audio lag and picture quality on the TV. If I pull the picture up full-screen, I get a super picture quality (usually, depending on the channel) and can use my laptop keyboard to navigate controls. My main gripe is the need to confirm Location every so often on ABC and my local PBS station--I am technologically challenged. I t-h-i-n-k I have now gotten the hang of it; time will tell. But I am not sure this is YTTV's "fault." It may be the network bureaucracy. The scrolling through the program guide for live TV is very easy on the computer, as is flipping from Live to Home or Library. I did subscribe to Peacock for a short while in a quest to get as much Olympic programming as possible, and found it horribly difficult to use. (I miss the Olympic Channel, which has been discontinued.) The main reasons I chose YTTV in the first place (when my OTA reception was lost because a massive new building went up next door that blocked the signals) was the choice of channels. I think it's the only streaming service that includes my local PBS station, and it has Turner Classic Movies, and those are the two channels I probably watch most often. The sports lineup is excellent. The unlimited recording (and nine months to watch what's saved) is superior to what most streaming services offer. My main gripe is that I have a MacBook and Google and Apple apparently have a rivalry, so I can't watch YTTV on Safari. Installing Chrome (and Firefox as backup) was a pain. I will say that customer service was very helpful. Now I have Chrome safely installed, knock on wood, I am okay. I figure the subscription of about $2 a day is worth it for the value I get. I subscribed right before the Covid shutdowns, and quite honestly I think the service helped me enormously during the difficult months when our library was closed, as were the bookstores I could reach, movie theaters and live entertainment, etc. I live in a multi-unit building, facing NNW, so outdoor antenna for satellite service is out. Cable is too expensive. I had it once years ago and the service was awful, with outages lasting for days on occasion. So far, I haven't had technical glitches with streaming (have high-speed Internet). All in all, YTTV is worth it. I adjusted my budget to afford it.
My big complaint is that, as a company that used to advertise on RUclips, we spent lots of money advertising our videos. We felt ripped off because as soon as the video was finished, RUclips would follow it with a video from one of our competitors. The competitor paid nothing to advertise on RUclips but would always be given a free ad at our expense. RUclips software takes the subject of a video and then finds another video with the same subject, which is always our competition! We no longer post videos or advertise them on RUclips.
We will definitely give second thought. Since the market is very compitative moreover the picture quality dish services is far superior compare to the quality of picture using internet .sooner or later we will also have setalite connectivity Hopefully it will dramatically change the overall user experience
My issues are the sound difference going from 5.1 to stereo channels and not automatically playing after FF( VUE DID). People that complain about the price are just ignorant and never grew up experiencing cable.
Controversial hot take here. The longer my family has been a cord cutter, going on 5+ years now, the less we rely on live TV. We're fortunate that what we want to watch live, we can get with an antenna. I realize not everyone can use an antenna where they are, but if you like local stations or network TV, it's an option worth looking into.
@@MichaelSaves Another controversial take if you are a die hard sports fan, cable/sat is still your best bet. There's no better way to get all the games you want. You allude to this in this video. If sports isn't your thing, free yourself from live TV services!
It's funny the only local station I lost was an indepedent that I relied on strictly for weather/sports at 10:00. They don't seem to stream their news anywhere but live on their own website. I just have to rememeber to set my alarm for 10:00 (or 10:15 for weather/sports ONLY).
I used to have just free OTA TV with indoor antenna (plus a couple of "niche" streaming services) until a new massive building went up next door and blocked the signals. Since I'm in a multi-unit building and my unit faces NNW, and I'm prohibited (for safety reasons) from fixing an antenna that will reach out from my balcony railing, I can't get satellite (which gets bad reviews for reliability anyway). A friend was unable to get OTA signal because she lived in a hilly area in our city and her apartment was on the ground floor. This sort of problem is probably more common than many realize. Given the choice between fairly expensive YTTV and very expensive cable with add-ons, my choice is clear. I am lucky in that my state does not (yet) charge monthly fees or sales tax, so the $64.99 is the final cost. $2 a day for unlimited news, entertainment, and even learning is a relative bargain when you think that just going to a movie theater for a couple of hours (one movie) is $10 and up.
@@andygraning2190 Sports is the only reason I watch basic TV anymore. And I’m considering cutting the cord even further from the YTTV services of the world, too, by just going direct to the leagues with individual streaming options. Like F1 app for $10/month. Haven’t done the math on it yet, but if I’m subscribed direct to my key sports, I’m probably coming out ahead vs. $70 per month.
My only complaint with RUclips tv is the absence of a guide button on the remote. I would like to see what is next on the channel that I am currently watching.
For me I can live with the channel line up and price, however.... I hate that the library and the dvr I just want to watch and delete. What a pain to have to mark it as watched. Why I cancelled again
Eight years ago when we bought our house, we bought a smart tv and signed up for high speed internet. We only watched on demand content and DVDs. Recently we decided to test out RUclips TV. We found very little that we wanted to watch. I guess it was due to not following any current programs. So we're going back to on demand. If we do decide we want local programming, we'll look into an antenna. (We also couldn't stand all the advertising. We'd forgotten how much there was of it during live programming!)
I think your setup from 8 years ago was great! If you can get by without a service like YTTV, that's great. It's for live sports and cable news mostly.
Here’s a good complaint… the lettering in the Live Guide is too small, both in the guide itself and in the descriptions above for each show. I am specifically now talking about when watching on my big screen tv.
My biggest complaint about YTTV is the CONSTANT PAUSING ! It is driving me crazy. Doesn’t do that on my laptop or so much on the bedroom TV, but it is always happening with our family room tv. Sometimes it seems that cable is cheaper when you end up going with YTTV and then also buying the Hulu, Netflix, etc..
My biggest gripe with RUclips TV is that, for instance, if you want to record a specific episode of tv series, there is no option to record just 1 episode, it just records the entire series. Which sucks, because let’s use the recent NASCAR race for example, the last 2 laps we’re finished on USA because the race overran, having the opportunity to just record one episode because a sporting event was switched to another channel would help out so much. Really wish they would fix that feature.
My biggest issue is with the sound being out off sync with the video. I don’t have this problem with any of the other streaming services. Sometimes closing the app on my Apple TV will fix it, but sometimes it won’t.
I've customized my Live Guide...it's great. However if you go to the guide that comes up when you press the button on the Fire Stick, that guide is not in the custom order. And although there is a "customize" option there, it's NOT to sort the order, but whether or not you want to add channels to favorites...? Why aren't these two "guides' IDENTICAL??
Everything depends on what you watch. I had You Tube TV, then they dropped the Tennis Channel, a must for me. Sling is now my best value and I think their Ala Carte offering is the model for the future of streaming.
I have tried all of the services. The best streaming interface is DirecTv Streaming. The biggest advantages are the ability to jump days without having to run through the entire guide. Also the determination of recording new and/or old episodes is easy to set for each program. On many shows it is also easy to fast forward through commercials when watching a recorded program. It is not perfect either and has bugs with losing signal on occasion. But in general, it is the closest to cable I have seen yet. I hope that RUclips will look at their interface for some suggestions. I will be switching back to RUclips for NFL Sunday Ticket and would like to see that interface improved.
I have RUclips TV and it can be quite clunky. Unfortunately it seems all the streaming services are more concerned with NOT mimicking the classic cable/satellite box than they are making a simple/functional experience.
Glad to see this. I was going to try this but when they dropped things like the Tennis Channel I did not switch. If I want to watch local channels, I use the antenna. I pay for Philo but mainly watch Pluto TV.
Yeah my big complaint is not being able to record new episodes only cause with a show that has been on 20 years that's a lot of shows to mark as watched and delete.
We had RUclips TV for about two years...when they went up the third time in less than two years I cancelled it! I found work arounds and have not missed them at all. OTA and other streaming services...currently have three other streaming services and pay less than half of what YTTV charges. They really need to rethink their pricing structure.
Hi Michael your videos are so helpful. i just bought a smart tv, signed up for a youtube tv trial and downloaded the app to the tv. it lets me channel up and down and the picture is so sharp! but i cannot access the channel guide. if i hit the guide button on the tv remote the screen just goes blank. it i try to select the guide the screen goes blank. and if i use the voice feature to call up a channel it does it outside the youtube tv app and offers a chance to download it. any idea of a solution?thanks!
Very strange! I would chat with support or request a callback. On my third month streaming RUclips TV and issues of freezing picture while watching just sports, especially on ESPN, is annoying. Thinking about going to HULU Live.
I must be old school but the lack of a customer service number to address any issues that may arise occasionally is a big deal to me. I’m not comfortable dealing with only a chat bot or email only support. With the amount of revenue they’re raking in RUclips TV can afford human phone ☎ support.. Also you can be a customer for years and never receive a so much as a thanks for it. They honestly just don’t care as you’re just a number to them. I remember the days of cable and when you wanted to stop service they would fight tooth and nail to keep you and usually offered a discount to keep you. They didn’t want to lose you to a competitor! RUclips TV and their algorithms certainly don’t give a shit. Alright let’s hear 👂 the OK Boomer comments now…. 😂
I’m surprised this is not a common complaint, audio and video being out of sync. I need to restart my Apple TV device to fix this. I have worked with RUclips tv support on this for months. It’s gotten better but it still happens occasionally. As far as the “we’ll be right back” screen is concerned, I’d rather see that than ads.
These are only surface-level complaints. Several users are still having issues with 5.1 audio sync, the new guide design not being available on certain devices, 5.1 randomly missing from Disney-owned channels like ESPN. And don't forget about the lowest bitrate in the industry for live streaming, leading to a blocky effect in dark or fast-moving scenes.
I'm coming from Frontier Cable and just signed up for RUclips TV. I have paid for Paramount +, HBO Max, Netflix, Disney etc... Are these paid channels carried over to RUclips TV or do I have to sign in for each of my previous paid channels? Since my Frontier TV will go away in a week, if I have problems with Internet, do I still call Frontier or RUclips TV customer support? One more question...I have a Smart Samsung TV. Do I use that remote control to navigate RUclips TV, or do I need anything else??? Thanks in advance......Ron Ludwin
I have a guide here that will help you: michaelsaves.com/streaming/how-to-cut-the-cord/ You’ll sign in to those other apps separate from RUclips TV. If your internet goes down, call the company who provides your internet. You can download RUclips TV on your Samsung.
Sporting events rarely conclude when scheduled. There are rain delays (baseball, auto racing), overtime (football, NASCAR), etc. Will the entire event be recorded automatically? Is there a way to extend the recording time beyond what is scheduled?
HELP!!! Cut the cable a month ago. My main TV is hooked to Verizon soundbar. My wife has a Roku TV. I haven’t noticed the ads but hers gets 3 minute “breaks” that will USUALLY include 3 or 4 showings of the EXACT same ad. Is there any type of work around or a YTTV ad free option? I can’t find one.
Don't forget you can pause the service for up to 6 months without paying for it. And with Google being a tech company, I have always expected more options to tune the service to your liking. But I think they are happy with the revenue stream and have no incentive to improve the service.
I love RUclips tv... Has all the channels I watch (except history channel but I have the app for that).. only gripe I have is they need major work on the DVR
I widh they would fix the pause and Start From Beginning features. These don't work anymore. You have to hit the rewind button and then it goes to the current live broadcast. Then you have to rewind it to start from the beginning.
About watching RUclips TV on a iPad or iPad, let’s say I want to see what’s coming up on PBS in a couple of hours from now? I can’t figure out how to scroll further to see what’s coming up. This is not a problem on my TV as it acts like a typical guide, but there is no way that I can figure out on how to scroll ahead on a station? There is absolutely nothing on RUclips that addresses my question. Please help me if you can.
Recently our internet went out and we used our other internet service temporarily until our premium internet was restored. When I went to use my youtube tv only a handful of stations work and now I'm receiving error codes. Both of my children whom are both fairly smart with tech things could not fix my issue. The only way now I can use/access all the stations in the guide is if I cast from my phone... This has to have away to fix the issue, what is the point of having a smart tv if I have to cast from my phone. Any ideas how to fix the issue? Also the error codes are on stations like NBC ABC CBS ect.
OK a few basic things you could try. 1) Confirm that your TV is connected to the regular service. 2) Uninstall and reinstall the RUclips TV app, then sign in again. 3) From your TV set, go to your profile icon and then Location. Click current playback area with your phone in hand. Perhaps something went wrong during the outage with that setting. You can also contact RUclips TV support here: michaelsaves.com/streaming/contact-youtube-tv-support/. Let me know
My feed often has the background descriptions on and you can't turn it off (NBC). YTTV changes my local feed about every 3 months. It seems to think I live in a different viewing area because my ISP network system is about 40 miles to the east.
Michael you do such an awesome job explaining all the facts about RUclips TV. I like many others have been contemplating cutting the cord now. So I'm trying to learn all I can about streaming services. I believe I really like RUclips TV the best so far. I just have one question I believe you can answer for me. Can you DVR a program while watching another program? In all the video's I've watched I believe you can but I just want to be absolutely sure. Thank you Michael.
I SPORTS BET so I was wondering if I was to get RUclips TV paired with high speed internet connection which would lag more spectrum cable or youtube tv?
RUclips TV’s delay will still be a few seconds longer in than cable I think. But check my most recent video - YTTV added a feature to reduce the delay.
Has RUclips lost Licensing on some of there movies I have just rented 2 different movies and it says there is a licensing problem ...will I be reimbursed for the ones I rented ?
Michael, YTTV is still showing older episodes as unwatched days or weeks after they were watched and removed from the new recordings tab. I tried your method fix a while back and all that did was to show ALL episodes as not watched. Oh well, I guess its something I have to live with. At least I have 5.1 surround sound. All in all, I love YTTV!
@@jimdunlop4427 I explain in #7: michaelsaves.com/streaming/change-youtube-tv-settings/ If you pause history, mark as watched won't work properly. Otherwise, you may want to contact support.
I prefer a real REC button instead of the + Button. Make it more like Tivo. Record 1 episode, Rec season add more time if needed. Thumbs 👍 or 👎 I wish google would just buy Tivo and use their software.
I'm a real RUclips Premium customer, and I enjoy tuning in primarily to the news programs and to listen to the various speakers at college campuses. Well, lately for some screwball reason, someone over there decided to enhance serious reporting with break aways using canned footage with no relation to the story. I suppose that someone would say it is just a bend in the pretzel for intended comedic humor, but I have a bit of additional news -- 90% of the times it isn't funny, 95% of the time it bears no relation to the coverage. and after so much of it, it is annoying. Please ask them to stop this, at least as far as news stories go. I will leave it with you, and we will see how much they listen to real customers going forward. Thank you very much.

I could really use help. I do not see options to add upcoming Awards shows to my Library. I search for the show and it gives me completely non-related items to add. The Screen Actors Guild Awards and Grammy's are regularly scheduled television shows. I cannot find any option on how I can add these episodes.
If they’re more than 2 weeks out, they probably won’t show up. I would perform the search within 2 weeks of the show airing. That’s when the guide will populate with the information. (Most services are like this with the 2 week thing.)
Channel listings don't update automatically on mobile devices and have to constantly have to shut down and reboot for a current program listings, the controls, fast forward, rewind, pause and even with dvr would constantly mess up and again I would have to reboot and start over or if not dvr'ed end up just getting to start at the point of reboot. But thier is a lot of bugs in the mobile app and it gets frustrating many times daily.
I just have a one question. So watching a free movie on utube but adds pop up but I don’t know which button to use to skip add. Able to do it on my phone but ever button I press either takes me out of the movie or it takes me out of the stream part !
Very helpful video! YTTV is still my fave although does have a fair amount of issues. I am most annoyed with the lack of Bally Sports Networks so thanks for touching on that. I can’t watch ANY of my local NBA games unless I subscribe to cable or DTV. What are my options?
That's pretty standard, I'm afraid, for all the "big" sports--the lucrative deals the leagues cut with the local sports stations for exclusive airing of games don't reflect any consideration for the wishes of the customer! I live in a city where our NBA team broadcasts are blocked and I am shut out of two MLB markets, one for a team 200 miles away and one for a team about 500 miles away! At least YTTV does have all the ESPN stations and all the Fox Sports stations, and I subscribe to MLB TV for my favorite team (out-of-market games). My only suggestion is to get used to listening to radio broadcasts of local teams, if you can get them--not quite the same, but free.

This is a deal breaker for us. We find it useless because of this.
Honestly, because of your videos, I opted to cut the cable chord a few months ago and went with RUclips TV. Still getting used to the few additional steps needed to get to actual watching, nevertheless no regrets so far. Still lots to learn though so thank you for continuing to present these videos.
I work for att and uverse hasn't excited with att for a long time lol direct tv stream is the new one

Why they don’t have msg or yes network
I mainly use it on a Nvidia Shield.
- Without channel numbers, need a faster was to get to a channel other than scrolling
- Scheduled recordings has no real way to tell what time something is coming on or how long it is.
You sort of get that by hitting the down button 3 times. That should bring up the “TV Networks” mini guide and highlight the last channel.

The biggest downside to that is you kiss both your recordings and DVR settings bye-bye.

I like yt tv, and I plan to stay with it. My only question is, why can’t I delete content from the dvr? It would seem like an easy fix.
Take care.
Glad you signed up for those add-ons directly. As you stated, better deals when you do that.

Agree. We haven’t missed cable a bit
@@highspec_tech90 Don't forget to add what you're paying for internet service, can't run either without it.
I agree cable is trash and so is Hulu and Sling.
I looked into Sling and was shocked at how expensive it is once you choose the channels you want. So that didn't happen. Had Fubo for football last season and it was great
@@shanew7361 I liked Hulu live until they jacked up their prices. I don't watch enough live TV to justify that cost
FuboTV is way better if you use with Apple TV device. With FuboTV, you can stream 4 channels at ONCE. It’s called Multiview.
@@marketbuy if you actually like that option then that's definitely a great thing....that is not something that I am interested in and that is not gonna sway me away from RUclips TV.
I'm used to the spectrum tv app and there are things RUclips tv can emulate
The option to designate a startup station (this might exist but I'm not seeing it so far)
The ability to see an "info" page during an episode or movie, which tells me things like cast, all air times, etc.
Using the left and right arrow (on roku remote) separate functions instead of rewinding and fast forwarding
Setting favorites on tv instead of on mobile or laptop
RUclips tv seems to require few more clicks to get to where you want to be compared to the spectrum app.
Definitely a great channel line up! I just want jump to day!
The other option, even though we can have severe weather any month of they year, would be to just subscribe during "storm season."
The only thing I wish RUclips TV had that it doesn't is the History Channel.
@@MichaelSaves thanks for that tip.
Thanks for the video. 🙏🎅
Great video.. I do wish RUclips TV had the History Channel and it will be missed !
I prefer the old guide over the new one. One nice thing about my Apple TV is they still have the old guid. Hope it never changes.
Nice. Glad you're liking the Chromecast w/ Google TV!
I switched from cable to YTTV and love it. Is it perfect, no but I get almost all the channels I want at cheaper costs. One issue is the clock. I read they put a clock on the guide but so far it has not shown up on mine. I do have the new guide which is much better.
I don't have the clock yet either. It's coming
I got the clock on my fire sticks but not my Apple tv
I tried Fubo, RUclips TV, Philo and Sling (the Blue package). RUclips TV was definitely my favorite but I ended up sticking with Sling due to the cheaper price. Instead of a month to month plan, I wish these cable alternative services offered the option of annual plans.
I had RUclips tv also
It was a good deal for 50 a month plus I got the Yankees
They got rid of the Yankees and started jacking up the price
I got rid of it and got sling tv instead
Works fine and I don’t miss not seeing Yankees games
I like RUclips TV better than any others on the market, but I do wish they would get rid of that obnoxious sound when the app is loading.
Take care.
Even when you drop the internet service, you get to keep the email address.
I'm new to the channel and never watched any of your videos but this seems more of a ad than a unbiased review.🤷🏽♂️
(I miss the Olympic Channel, which has been discontinued.)
The main reasons I chose YTTV in the first place (when my OTA reception was lost because a massive new building went up next door that blocked the signals) was the choice of channels.
That's so right. They don't need to give offers to fish they've already caught. They need to put out bait to get new bites.
I have had RUclips TV since June. I just now got the new channel guide look.
I like this take!
@@MichaelSaves
Another controversial take if you are a die hard sports fan, cable/sat is still your best bet.
The DVR things you mentioned are why I am still using Hulu Live TV. That’s a deal breaker for me
My only complaint with RUclips tv is the absence of a guide button on the remote.
Yes, I hear this a lot. RUclips shrunk the text when it added the show descriptions that many people begged for.
Is there a recall option, to toggle between the last 2 channels viewed?
Arrow down a few times for the mini guide. The last channel will appear first.
Old timers like me would like a live guide to open on boot up. The ribbons don't give me what I'm looking for right now.
Is there a way to make youtube tv to return to channel watching when turned youtube tv off?
I have RUclips TV and it can be quite clunky. Unfortunately it seems all the streaming services are more concerned with NOT mimicking the classic cable/satellite box than they are making a simple/functional experience.
Glad to see this. I was going to try this but when they dropped things like the Tennis Channel I did not switch. If I want to watch local channels, I use the antenna. I pay for Philo but mainly watch Pluto TV.
Yeah my big complaint is not being able to record new episodes only cause with a show that has been on 20 years that's a lot of shows to mark as watched and delete.
It works for me 👍🏾
We had RUclips TV for about two years...when they went up the third time in less than two years I cancelled it!
Have you tried accessing the guide using the arrows on your remote, rather than the button on your remote that says guide? ruclips.net/video/1U-c_ujSJ2c/видео.html. Glad to see others think 4k should be free
There is phone support but they call you back. You start with an online questionnaire.
@@MichaelSaves - Good to know for future reference but I already dropped them like a hot potato. 🥔
I've heard more about out of sync audio lately. It's not been an issue for me, but I am hearing more about this than in the past.
RUclips TV will extend recordings automatically. There is no manual way to control this
@@MichaelSaves thank you. I'm putting it to the test tomorrow. I'm recording two races.
In the settings menu can I set this service to Standard HD so I don't burn through a lot of data while I'm using a hot spot camping on the weekends ?
I show how to change streaming quality in this related article/video: michaelsaves.com/streaming/change-youtube-tv-settings/#videoquality
I love RUclips tv... Has all the channels I watch (except history channel but I have the app for that).. only gripe I have is they need major work on the DVR
I think the dvr is a deal breaker. Currently have a trial to RUclips tv and directv stream. Directv has a way better dvr
My number 1 complaint is that RUclips Live TV has a huge lag... I understand may be a 10 sec lag but ~ +- 40 second lag is just too much!
Let me know
@@MichaelSaves Dude thank you! I'm passing this info on to my adult kids lol
Yes you can DVR as many as you want, even simultaneously and while watching something else.
What about the local channels for local news does RUclips TV have those options available?
Yes you get locals
I SPORTS BET so I was wondering if I was to get RUclips TV paired with high speed internet connection which would lag more spectrum cable or youtube tv?
RUclips TV’s delay will still be a few seconds longer in than cable I think. But check my most recent video - YTTV added a feature to reduce the delay.
if you already have high speed, high bandwidth Internet just watch free online! No need to pay for low quality stream
Do you have watch history paused with RUclips TV?
Please remind me again that process procedure.
@@jimdunlop4427 I explain in #7: michaelsaves.com/streaming/change-youtube-tv-settings/ If you pause history, mark as watched won't work properly. Otherwise, you may want to contact support.
How long is current you tube free trial?
BEWARE Google has illegal practices. I cancelled a NFL Ticket and changed the debit card I used and still kept my you tube tv account with another debit card number. August 12 2024 you tube tv (google) charged me $349 on a debit card that wasn’t used for the initial NFL Season ticket. This should be illegal. This is a scumbag move and I
Will never use their services again
YTTV app for my Samsung tablet is buggy and hard to use when in landscape mode. But so are many other apps on the tablet.
@@MichaelSaves Thank you!
Read FuboTV recent news. They just signed up Bally Sports Networks!
