63 future NFL players saw the field in this game. 63!!! That’s more talent than has ever been together in one game, or probably ever will be. That’s why the FSU-Miami rivalry in the 80’s and 90’s is STILL the rivalry all other rivalries want to be.
I like how I ended up watching 9 minutes of Deion vs. Brian Blades because the video title led me to believe I'd be seeing 9 minutes of Deion vs. Michael Irvin.
I a, an Ole Miss guy. Watched every matchup from these two for years. They defined college football through the 80s and 90s. Just awesome coaching and talent. All built by some Alabama boys. Bowden grew up in Bama. And Schnellenberger was a bear Bryant coach.
They should have just had Deion follow Irving. They didn't really do that in those days, especially not in college. They just had you play your zone, or the man across from you on your side of the field. It was some kind of philosophy about not highlighting the individual, and we're just going to play our game.
@@joebuck4496 if I recall he had already signed and was being paid on a baseball contract. At least that was the story st Bowden had the tallahassee democrat float when prime time was seen driving expensive vehicles around town.
As a bama fan who grew up in that era not taking nothing from Miami but y'all schedule sucked canes never played no one unless it was Florida st and the bowl games and it usually was Nebraska or Oklahoma y'all lost to bama in 92 it was a blow out if y'all was in the sec wouldn't be running the tables
These games were so awesome to watch. When they were both powerhouses. The Gators were good back then too. Florida college football was the best back then.
Great video. Shows Deion tackling hard. Misleading because Deion never guarded Irvin. Irvin was always in the slot or the other side of the field. Michael did catch two touchdowns on other players, but not Deion.
Yooo Lmaoo. GREAT share bro!! And those 3 point stances seem Funny and Vintage AF!! .. Until I thought about how Difficult it would be To Jam A FLORIDA Athlete off the line!!! With them leaving from a 3 point stance!! ……. Hence Irving’s Last Ridiculous Catch and Run!! 😮💨😮💨🤌🏾🤌🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Gave me goose bumps watching this again, remember watching this game in the common room in our barracks..... Imagine having a QB be call an audible vs the crap "check with me" we do now.
I’m not a fan of any teams in the south but college football was better when the three Florida schools were great like this. I remember watching these games as a kid - some of the best games I’ve ever seen. Hopefully they all get back to this.
I hate the Florida powerhouses too, but I like it when at least 1 of them are good. Same reason as you, I think CFB is better one of the powerhouses are good.
I can remember watching this game it was a battle but Miami was not throwing the ball at Deion Sanders side of the field but those were very competitive games back then
Marcus Watson they were talking about the ‘94 nfc championship game. Dallas was down and Irvin single handily brought them back ending up having like 200+ yards with Deion covering him. But this game was the same thing. Irvin was that kind of player he was a leader who was about winning. If coop was half the man he was you don’t allow someone to limit u to 2 targets.
Guru Gawd huh cool. Thanks for clearing that up lol. I just watched some highlights of the game they were actually talking about. I see what you mean! Irving is an absolute dog. Wish I could have seen guys like that play. I spend more time watching old highlights then I do watching some games now. Though their is still a lot of good football for sure. The wide receivers and RB were just so good 10+ years ago.
We owned FSU and UF. To this day we have a more titles and hold the head to head advantage against both schools. At one point in the early 2000s we won 9 straight against both of those bums.
Deon is a legend for what he did on the field…But Michael Irvin is a legend not only for what he did on the field but for what he did off the field as well lol… Deon might be “prime” but that was really just a character he played…. Michael was the real rockstar lol…
This is the comment I was coming to make. I'm like what is this, Deion Sanders making big hits! In the NFL he just made a business decision. He tackled, but he wasn't smashing into people. He'd let you run slightly by him on purpose and grab your legs so he wouldn't have to take the runner on. I guess that started when he got to the league, cause that's when I started watching him, his rookie year.
That Sanders guy ended up having a successful career in the NFL, somebody said he was a head coach at A HBCU, and turned the program around and brought national attention to the program..has anybody heard of Jackson State??? I even heard his son is the QB and another son that plays the same position as his dad....they call him coach Prime.
One huge myth about Dion is that he shy away from contact. He’s not out there like Ray Lewis or anything, but he’s definitely not and never was afraid of contact.
he made tons a biz decisions. In college he still needed to get that bag. and draft order is no joke. It legit follows players until they win a super Bowl

Those practices must have been intense!
This was a time when The FSU vs. MIAMI games were EPIC!!!!!! ✅💯🔥🎯
Wide Receivers coming out in a 3 Point stance is just wild to look at lol
All Crazy 🤪..
The face masks with the line down the middle. Aka T bar. Aka booty cage
😂😂
😂
Protection from all those collisions....this era has no shoulder pads compared to then!
Even in college Michael Irvin looked like he was 50 yrs old! He was a man among boys!
🤣😂
Right
Go look at Emmitt Smith in High school. He makes Irvin look like a baby
Cocaine is a heluva drug…
Man those Miami vs Fla St battles was must see tv.
I like how I ended up watching 9 minutes of Deion vs. Brian Blades because the video title led me to believe I'd be seeing 9 minutes of Deion vs. Michael Irvin.
Deion's going fast on the slow motion replays 😂his speed is crazy.
yeah its quite amazing how fast he looks around other top notch athletes.. even in the pros...
Sanders on those punt returns is like watching Gretzky on a break away!!
This was one of the great college football games of all time.
#1 Iowa and #2 Michigan was the greatest college football of all time.
@@Yyyyyy5Is that the 85 game with Harbaugh as the QB.

Yes sir
I remember watching this game back in '87.
Nice to see them before the NFL

Hotty Toddy brother!
Michael Irvin's mother had 17 children. Michael talks about having to fight for cereal as a kid. Amazing. 17 children.
All those great names on the same field! Irvin and Sanders two of the best ever, not just for the era.
You played DA Canes in the 80's you took an Ass whooping.
Man! Taking me back to sophomore yr in highschool. Classic game. The U & FSU had classic games
Can you remember what #game this was? Was it the opener?

I feel your pain the same could be said about my USC Trojans, but we turning it around now.
Lmao underrated?! Miami's run has been one of the most publicized and promoted in college football history😂
Brain Blades turned out to be a pretty good Seahawk.
The Canes had Irvin, Blades, and Brett Perriman as their wide outs. I believe all 3 were pro bowlers.
These games were so awesome to watch. When they were both powerhouses. The Gators were good back then too. Florida college football was the best back then.
Sanders was tougher as a Seminole than a Cowboy!
Except that Sanders actually covers Irvin in exactly none of the clips
I don't know who was responsible for the Florida State Defensive game plan but I would have made Deon Sanders Michael Irvin's shirt.
Crowd “Vibe”…priceless
WRs coming out of a stance just looks crazy

Always nice to watch my Canes when we're actually good and routinely beat up on our little brother from up north.
I believe that's the hardest hit I ever seen prime make

No one will outwork the playmaker
It's too bad this game is not what it used to be!!
Still love when Bo Jackson gave the kid who would become Prime Time, FACE TIME, with a Walter Payton-style straight arm.

Brian Blades was raw too
Michael Irvin bomb Deion Sanders on this game that day. 😲
In the time FSU and MU were powerhouses
SO, other than being on the same field at times, there was NO ACTUAL Dieon VS Michael.
So this is the game skip and shay were talking about today after Stephen Gilmore shut down amari cooper.

That first pass was a crappy throw. Why did Sanders get accolades for the incomplete pass?
Irvin won that battle by a mile
Why does the headline say d'éon vs Irvin all his touchdowns were on other people
