Display and CAT control for the FT-817/FT-818

In this video an ESP32 microcontroller is used to control the Yaesu FT-817 resp. FT-818 transceiver via TFT display and CAT interface. The software development is still in progress and bugs still exist.

Wichtig sind große Anzeigen und mir persönlich für den Portabelbetrieb im Sonnenschein gut ablesbare Displays. Favorit in dieser Kategorie ist bei mir der x5105. Großes LCD mit dimmbarer Beleuchtung, leider eher weiß, eine gelbliche Beleuchtung wäre für Betrieb im Dunklen etwas angenehmer. Bin gespannt auf den KX2 in dieser Hinsicht, muss leider noch etwas warten….
Aber gut, dass es für fast jeden Bedarf etwas geeignetes gibt. Bis auf die Notwendigkeit einer Lesebrille im Nahbereich geht es mit meinen Augen noch ganz gut, da kann ich Wert auf andere Dinge legen. Den FT818 hänge ich aber daheim auch gerne an den Monitor, das Display ist wirklich arg reduziert!

great job. i would really like something like this but include rotary encoders for frequency and memory and bluetooth connection to rig. reason being is working satellites where the control display could be mounted on the antenna instead of juggling rig, antenna, microphone, reading glasses, and operating for doppler shift

Hi great job! Do you have a few questions, is it also suitable for the 857 because in my opinion it is the same operating system on the device... and is it possible with any Android software? Windows? Is it already possible to install without bugs? And how do you get the software and operating instructions. Thanks

Regarding the support for the 857, there is a related library on github from Pavel Milanes (github.com/pavelmc/FT857d), who also wrote the 817 library which I am using in the project. So I would recommend to compare both libraries and (may be) to adapt the 857 library so that it can be used for my software,

Vielen Dank. Eine Wasserfall-Anzeige wie bei den modernen SDR-Geräten ist meines Wissens beim FT-817/818 nicht möglich.

Einen Schaltplan und eine deutsche Übersetzung gibt es nicht. Auf meiner Github-Seite (s. Link oben) findest du das Pin-Mapping zwischen ESP32 und Display, außerdem zwei Fotos von der Verkabelung.
