    Jason, I don’t have a Yaesu radio and didn’t even know what CAT control was, but I found this video very educational. There are so many things we can do with ham radio, and being a long haul truck driver it is amazing to contemplate all the uses radio and Pi sbc’s can be put to. Thank you for all of your videos, each and everyone is a gem.

    Thanks, Jason. I ordered my bluetooth cat control right after you published this video and it finally arrived. Note that it shows up as "BT04-A" for me.

      I had a couple more arrive since the video and they are different than my original and yours. The script was modified to handle the various names :-)

    I installed it this morning and it works. I had a little trouble installing it and I need to uninstall the script and reinstall it because of my error, I have to manually start the connection each time before I can use it. I wish everyone’s videos were clear and concise as yours are. Sometimes I’m just not as good at following precise directions as I should be. :-)

    I enjoyed the video. Have you done one on how to set up a SignaLink with the Yaesu 857-D and use WinLink? I also just got my Pi. Do you have a view list that would be the best order to watch and learn what to do and how to do it with a Pi and 857D? Thanks

    Thanks, Jason, for the tutorial and the information. I'm wondering if you could give a little more detail about the hardware part of this install. Does the BT interface plug into the CAT port of the radio or is it an internal install?

    • @KM4ACK
      @KM4ACK  3 года назад

      It plugs right into the back of the radio where the CAT cable would normally connect.

    Your videos are excellent. Please keep them coming. Quick question- does this Bluetooth procedure work with a Yaesu FT-891. I assume so since it’s in the same family of radios.

    • @KM4ACK

      Won't work with the 891 as the 891 uses a different style CAT port.

    I gather the Bluetooth transceiver obtain power from the 817. How much does this reduce operating time with 817 internal battery? If at all.
    If already having R-Pi close to radio, Would hard cable link from 817 to R-Pi use less power?
    Thanks for everything you do.

    I've been able to get my 897 connected to my Debian 10 workstation. Receiving works well, however I can't seem to get the output sound through the bluetooth dongle. The 897 is put in send mode, but there's no signal going out. Any idea on how I could fix that?

      @@KM4ACK Thanks for getting back so soon Jason. Strange thing is, receiving audio and thus decoding digital, .e.g. FT8, works well when just using the dongle. Anyway, I've managed to direct the output audio through the data port of the 897 and that seems to do the trick.
      Thanks again. 73's!
