Bears are incredible. I saw a kayak hatch cover lid that a black bear punched his claw through! It was one of those thick rubber lids that you couldn't put a knife through. Bears are incredible animals.

My buddy and I also hiked the SHT over Memorial Day. We traveled up from Des Moines, IA. After watching this entire vid, I realized that we actually were at West Kennedy & Bear Lake camp sites the same nights you were! Both East/West Kennedy were packed when we arrived so we had to camp off in the woods around there but we did manage to get a spot next to you at Bear Lake. We were the ones with the bright orange tent and the boy scout green color A-frame tent. Small world! Also, I recognize Rob and Cass from a Eagle Rock loop vid I watched one time on RUclips. I plan on hiking that loop in October. Keep making these midwest vids! You should try a place in Iowa just for giggles!

Cool. Heading to Colorado for 6 days later this fall. Any Iowa location ideas? My daughter might go to ISU.

I'm an Iowa State grad myself. She would love it there! Iowa has a bunch of state parks but lacks some long mileage. I've backpacked Loess Hills over by Omaha & Yellow River State Forest up in northeast corner of state. Both are more so walking trails then actual hiking trails. Still a good time though.

Just going by the video you should try the Canadian superior trail. Canadian side looks way nicer! Try and go whenever I can

I enjoyed your video. The scenery and music was the highlight for me! I would like more camping and cooking highlights.

I enjoy all of your vids. Inspiring. I will be on the trail from Martin road to split rock in the last week of June. Hope the trail is as beautiful as your footage.

Thanks for sharing your hike, great video. I just hiked Crosby Manitou to Tettagouche 2 weeks back. I'm glad we didn't know about the bear incident.

Great video! I don’t think you would/should get a replacement Ursack. NEVER should that bag be hung lower than 10 feet off the ground. 5 feet is worse than on the ground, as it will lure the bear to your site. You are very lucky that bear decided to leave.
Outside of that, very nice video! I am looking to hike the whole trail this fall.

Quite the adventure, cool moose sighting. I had an Ursack, but after several reports like yours I traded it in for a kit similar to the Z-Packs CF hanging kit. IMO the concept is good but the reality isn't that great, and I just got mine from a sense of laziness, not wanting to go through the trouble of finding a good place to hang my stuff. At least yours didn't fail entirely, like some have recently. All part of the adventure, at least you had a solid option to resupply and stay on trail! Nice video!

I’m curious about what gear you’re using. Especially the bottle holders on the front of your pack and your hammock?

Shawn Beck I just made a pack load our video that shows all of that and the notes list links to all the gear. Thanks for watching.

Hey Jeremy! I didn't realize it was you when we ran into you on the trail when you were having food dropped for you! When you see names on Facebook, you don't necessarily put a face to a name. Great video!

You were waiting for your new food to get dropped at the Beaver Bay parking lot. It was a short interaction. We were packing into our car and heading out. I shared your video with the girl I was camping with. beautiful video

Sorry to hear about your ursack. I’m sure they’ll exchange it. It has a lifetime warranty. I have never had any issues with mine. Glad it didn’t ruin your trip. 😊

Always enjoy your videos. Have you contacted Ursack about the bear encounter? I use my Ursack when hiking and canoeing and, so far, no encounters.

"gudmor" is "godmother" in Swedish. I had to look it up but I recognized the spelling/word to be a Swedish word as my mother is Swedish and I know there are a lot of Swedes in northern Minnesota!!!..

Sarah Green Very interesting and bit creepy. Whole wasn’t big enough for a body. Maybe they buried some ashes there?
