  • The Kekekabic Trail is a rugged 39 mile trail located in the heart of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA). It is the most remote trail I have hiked. There are no nearby roads or access points in between the trailheads at either end. Due to it's remote location and the fact that it is a 3.5 hour drive between trailheads, there are very few hikers on the trail. The trail has numerous campsites located on beautiful undisturbed lakes, breathtaking overlooks, and wildlife that includes bears, moose, wolves, beavers, and grouse (lots of grouse!).
I solo hike the trail in 2.5 days in late October and have a great time.

We are a few years away from moving to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area but we cannot wait for our move. We plan to make it our forever home and to retire there. I'm 41 years old and this is something that I desperately crave in my life. I truly can't wait to enjoy the beauty Minnesota offers. Cheers!

I've been associated with the Kek since the early 90's doing trail clearing, but never had the chance to hike the whole length. You had some fantastic fall weather to hike the trail, beautiful views. Too bad the days aren't longer in the fall to enjoy the beautiful weather that we have had here in MN. Really enjoy your videos and hiking.

That was an impressive sunset with the reflection on the lake. Very cool. I also like the key exchange system. It's a good way to avoid the out and back. Cheers!

I just got back from 3 days in the Porcupine Mountains. Could not follow the trail because of a 6 inch carpet of leaves on the ground. Have you had that problem this time of the year?
