That was very cool! I had a photographer friend (RIP) who incorporated very subtle light painting into some of his work. I've loved this and wanted to do this ever since I discovered its existence. Can hardly wait to get a new camera since I lost mine in the cockpit of a plane. Thanks for sharing! :-) :-)

Excelente video amigo!
It would definitely come out cool, I made a Tutorial about Light Painting with the Polaroid One Step + check it out here: ruclips.net/video/0BQww8l3SN0/видео.html

I am not sure what you mean by 2nd exposure? The images at the end are all about the same settings, some are shorter or longer exposures and different amounts of ambient light from the moon can effect the way they look.
Thank you, if you increase your ISO and open up your lens a bit to allow more light onto your sensor it should help as this will allow you to trace your body much more quickly and get a similar result in less time.
How do you maintain the photo result so it won't be over exposure with bulb mode? There is a possibility to make the photo over exposure if you take it too long, right?
Gurpreet Gandhi you can shoot in BULB mode with the D7200 and shoot as long as you need to by using a shutter release like these www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=nikon+d7200+shutter+release
Why a cable timer? On bulb mode, YOU are the timer. Only camera equipment that I use is a wireless remote so you don't move/shake the camera once you finish the shot.
Jason... u showed some basic wonderful technique for light painting. However, just want to know that putting the DSLR on bulb mode, did u rotate light throughout the body or something else !! pls suggest...
Ok i did this.....using my iphone but I didnt get the results you got...I just ended up being lit with a blue glow........should not my iphone give the same results..I was able to write love in air and make heart symbols but didnt get the light mesh around me like you did
The bulb function is fully manual, the shutter only stays open for as long as you have your finger on the shutter button. I would recommend a remote release button or intervalometer (specially used in time lapse).
Its because the bench is illuminated after I have moved. Think of the camera as an instrument for recording light, the camera will record what you illuminate. The leg was dark so nothing was recorded by the camera in that space on the sensor, only the traces of light around the leg. If you then illuminate that space for the camera to record it will make the leg appear hollow.

AWESOME....
Thank you for the comment, glad you enjoyed it!
What camera? The longest exposure I have is 30 seconds... been working to get into this style of photography!
This was the Canon 50D I believe. You could do it in 30 seconds, boost up your ISO to say 400 so you can more more quickly.

wooooowwww super brutal I love it! thanks my friend
Can we try this one any object also ?
Yes you can trace any object in light!
Fantastic :)))))))))))))))))))))))
Can we use this in go pro
YES, you can use ANY camera that is capable of doing a long exposure.
Thanks A lot Man You Killed it ... thanks For helping
good day are using manual focus or auto focus
Always manual in the dark. You can use auto to pull focus using a flashlight but once you get focus switch it to manual.
What did you do different with second exposure as it looks alot better
I am not sure what you mean by 2nd exposure? The images at the end are all about the same settings, some are shorter or longer exposures and different amounts of ambient light from the moon can effect the way they look.
Inçreibleeee! Gracias
You're welcome, glad you liked the video and thank you for the comment!

We love that you love it :)

amazing.how do I get the universal connector?
LightPaintingBrushes.com
LightPaintingPhoto :( 50 bucks??? :(
That is for the 3 pack. $20 for a single. :)
LightPaintingPhoto oh ok,nice. thanks. :)
This video is old but I was wandering what lens you were using?
Its a Tokina 11-16
Lovely
Thank you.
Congratulations, you now have a new subscriber : )
Thank you very much!
with a maximum longtime exposure lenght of 30 seconds on my camera, a bit difficult to realise, as time to short. But awesome!

nice tutorial! good paint a light
Thank you!
How do you maintain the photo result so it won't be over exposure with bulb mode?
There is a possibility to make the photo over exposure if you take it too long, right?
Yes as long as you shoot in a dark environment you should not have any trouble shooting at the same settings in the video.
Superb..
Which camera do you have, its exposure time is too long?
This was captured on the Canon 50D using BULB mode. however you can create light paintings on ANY camera that is capable of capturing a long exposure.
Hello Sir, Thank you for your reply. I have Nikon D7200 camera,How long can I take long exposures from this camera?
Gurpreet Gandhi you can shoot in BULB mode with the D7200 and shoot as long as you need to by using a shutter release like these
www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=nikon+d7200+shutter+release
How do you use bulb mode if your by yourself?
Use a wire or wireless shutter release.
wow that was sooo freakin cool
thank you!
That is awesome !
Thank you
LightPaintingPhoto no, thank *you*!
Awesome work! Could you do a tutorial on how to do the third to last picture in the video? looks great
is it possible to use a canon g7x and still get very good results?
Gold Coast urs
This is so cool ! Thanks...
Is their Any disadvantages with bulb mode ?
Nope there really aren't. :)
Nice.
How do you get the exposure so long?
Shooting in BULB mode.
LightPaintingPhoto and someone holding the shutter?
LightPaintingPhoto with a remote? So it doesn't get shaky?
You can use a remote or an intervalometer
May I ask where do the light from the background came from? just from the light of colour filter?
Yes just light from the color filter. The far background is ambient light from a distant city.
Could I do this on my phone??
Yep you can Light Paint using a Long Exposure App.
I lov it video bro.... Keep it up
Thank you! More videos are coming!
dude thx so uch , i cant belive how easy it is , hardest part is just having the right torch and cable timer
Why a cable timer? On bulb mode, YOU are the timer. Only camera equipment that I use is a wireless remote so you don't move/shake the camera once you finish the shot.
How to buy these torched for light painting ????
lightpaintingbrushes.com
Sir please make a video tutorial to keep shutter open manually
As you did for around 2 minutes
I will be making a beginner Light Painting Tutorial very soon that will go over this topic.
@@LightPaintingPhotography thank you very much sir
@@_SYBMSB_HarvilGada You're Welcome :)
Does this work on a 70D?
Yes, any camera capable of Long Exposures. You can even do it on a phone.
what phones that
i have a d3200 but i have no trigger thing
light man is lit
Andy Rantuccio hahaha
that pun isn't very bright...
Được đấy Anh ạ
Where can I purchase the light paint brush set?
Austin Appiah i have also same question...did u get that???
Rajiv Ranjan nope
Still waiting
Austin Appiah waiting of searching???
Rajiv Ranjan haha searching. my last option would be to buy it online if I don't get it in stores around me
Austin Appiah okay whenever u will get that inform me...thank you
master
Its impossible to master light painting. :)
Never mind. Saw the exposure time.
Jason... u showed some basic wonderful technique for light painting. However, just want to know that putting the DSLR on bulb mode, did u rotate light throughout the body or something else !! pls suggest...
Yes you wrap the light around your body during the exposure, this leaves traces of light in your image.
Noob question but how are you able to walk around in front of the camera to add that yellow lighting without the camera picking you up in the pic?
Your camera can only record what you allow it to see. If you wear dark clothing and move around you will not be seen.
neat!
Ok i did this.....using my iphone but I didnt get the results you got...I just ended up being lit with a blue glow........should not my iphone give the same results..I was able to write love in air and make heart symbols but didnt get the light mesh around me like you did
how to set such a long time
i have only 30 sec on my camera? can i set more than that?
Pradip Basnet bulb mode?
Use bulb mode. You'll even require a remote sensor
song?
how you can set exposure time over than 30 second ?
Guntur Tutun use the bulb setting
The bulb function is fully manual, the shutter only stays open for as long as you have your finger on the shutter button. I would recommend a remote release button or intervalometer (specially used in time lapse).
Use a trigger like triggertrap
My camera has upto 21 minutes of exposure time
if you have magic lantern you can turn on bulb mode and put exposure more than 30 second and in this case, is no necessary hold the shutter button
wow
1mtotry tonight excellent
Cool please share your results! instagram.com/jasondpage_lightpainter/
F. 5.6 is available only on DSLR not in smartphones
Generally speaking that is correct, hopefully we will do a smart phone specific tutorial in the future.
cool,ths
Thank you!
Gasp!!!!!! OMG.
🙃😊
:)
Ok
OK
I would not set the aperture so low...
still dont get it..why the camera didn't capture the human body ? :P slow learner sry.
Its because I am wearing dark clothing. The camera will only record the light that it sees.
5:45 but your body(ie. leg) was hollow :P it should be dark clothing, right?
Its because the bench is illuminated after I have moved. Think of the camera as an instrument for recording light, the camera will record what you illuminate. The leg was dark so nothing was recorded by the camera in that space on the sensor, only the traces of light around the leg. If you then illuminate that space for the camera to record it will make the leg appear hollow.
Lets be honest, your all here to see to the result.
:)
