Top drawer this episode Adam! Passionford is full of great stories, builds and people that social media just doesn’t have. It’s a shame it’s a quiet forum nowadays, back then you could post up something and totally lose the post in minutes it was that busy! Awesome car back in the day and looks like it still is… Please please cover more passionford cars such as F55 SOY, Sunny Khalsa’s RS Fiesta and Christian’s Escort RS Turbo. Those groundbreaking cars are what got us oldies hooked in the first place! 😊
Ive seen this car in action on Knockhill a few years back, total weapon. AG is also a bit of a legend up here with his Ford builds and driving skills at Knockhill!
Made my day this video, was subbed to fast ford magazine when the Reyland escort was featured and spent many hours scrolling through the passion ford forum back in the day
You might want to take look at Stian Hafsengen and his Escort Cossie as well. An ex-Carlos Sainz WRC car rebuilt and customized into a plaything, show car and part time hillclimb monster. He was pretty early to take part in little drift events and definitely among the first worldwide to go drifting in a 4WD car. Drifting here is basically divided by "before and after Hafsengen" and his Escort. He set a new standard for things to come. Just searching YT for his name will almost immediately give you a few results of his blue Cossie. It was crashed pretty hard once in his ownership but it was put back together. However it was sold without the driveline and a lot of WRC bodyparts. Apparently the shell sat rotting away in poor condition for a while but it supposedly rebuilt to its former glory now.
The Gatebil Escort Cosworth was probably the best private Cosworth and driver match up there's ever been - incredible car build with an incredible driver to match it!
He has a new car now. It's mk5 fiesta with a wrc kit and a volvo 2.5 turbocharged inline 5. It has an Selholm 4WD sequential gearbox and makes 1000hp. It's on the youtube channel Hillclimb Monsters.
Now that video took me back,I was on Passionford every day and very into attending the RS owner's trackdays at Croft,Combe and Donington. Thanks for the video its brought back great memory's
Good times! That's my voice in the car as Martin overtakes us with the caravan on the back, some great memories - Thanks for the video, good to know more about it now.
This video has made my day! Always loved this car and it's a must build on every Forza game I get! There are so many cars from that era that I'd love to know where they are now
Absolutely amazing Adam I used to live in Birmingham and I used to see Martin hadland driving around in the original reyland escort cossie and I was about 13 years old and I used to go crazy for him to get it sideways up the road 😂😂😂😂I’m buzzing the 2nd is still driving around I seen him in that car too a couple of times ❤❤❤❤
I remember Martin hadland when he had his unit on weatheroak Road sparkhill he used to drive the cossie powered mk 1 4x4 mondeo it was Green and fast do you remember that. ❤Martin does big brake kits now based up in stirclhley
@ he he he I know he definitely drove them properly and I last saw him driving a Lamborghini murcherlago I’m pretty sure he lives in Ireland now but I’m not 100 percent certain??
I live down the road from Martin im 44 now & when I was 15-16 me & my pals used to see him blowing around in his first escort & he built a MK1 Mondeo pepper mint green on white Mo's with full 4b cos running gear & that was running 380-400bhp in the middle 90's then I started going down to his unit when i needed parts or advice for me cossies. He was the first person to put a ball bearing GT series turbo on a cossie also the first person to 4b a 3 door which was black 350bhp & it hit 60 in 3.5secs I told him you should never ever ever 4b a 3 door. His first escort when it was 620ish bhp was actually running a millington donkey. His second cossie he actually had a block cast that was a inch taller than a standard cossie block so it had inch longer rods & all the other stuff if my memory is correct he had to run a Citroen xm cambelt the front wings on it as well the lip on the wings were stretched a extra inch because the front widetrack the man is a wealth of knowledge. The business name came about from him & then his partner Rey was a part of his partners name & land obviously a part of martins name.
had the pleasure of knowing martin via passion ford and was privileged to get out as a passenger for a session at Silverstone with him at ford fair in late 2000's , the car was brutally fast and lapped pretty much everything on track that day
The good old days of Passionford! Remember this, with Porkie in the Reyland coloured 3dr, and Sean Bicknel in his Esc Cos. Great memories! (I was Ian3dr on there at the time)
Me and my brother had the pleasure of prepping and spraying both martins green mondeo cosworth and the second escort cosworth shell lot of love went into that car 👌
Wow. Bought back some memories. Loved passionford, cant stand modern social media. I was on holiday in tenerife when the gumball crash happened and watched it unfold in an internet cafe! Awesome car, this and the gaitbill cossie were iconic. Brilliant vid. Miss those days. Was on track in a zetec turbo fiesta at Bedford back in the day when the reyland metro was ripping it up!
I’ve dealt with Martin a few times over the years. He is a really busy person BUT the few times I’ve needed his help, he’s always found the time. Genuine fan of Martin Hadland and Reyland in general 🙌
900 bhp, that's mental! My dream car is an ESCOS with a Smith & Jones, 2.2 liter long rod block, EFR turbo, TurboSmart electronic wastegate, some sort of helical-gears sequential gearbox, and all that controlled by a FuelTech ECU.
Mate you need to see him drive on track. His old time attack car was ahead of its time that his pall now owns. You need to do a full episode on that car
Martin used to being his Green 4x4 Mondeo with the cosworth engine to the Birmingham "tracks' back in the late 90s until the local media made a big fuss about the racing going on until the early hours. Great times
1st time ive seen u not tap out mate, Sick sick car. rember all the fast Ford features on Rayland cosworths & Rod Tarry true pioneers of cosworths for me as a 20 something bk then. Rip Rod Tarry😎👊✌
I remeber watching this when it happened and flowed the whole build process of the new one, even remember that plate they had machined to fit between the head and block
Going back to 2010ish. The remains of the shell was hanging from roof in his unit in Birmingham. Martin also had a Metro 1.8 VVC in the same orange colour around the same time.
awesome, can remember being on passionford when he was building this, nice to see it still about is this the guy who had the crazy blue focus? that thing was nuts wonder if Stian Hafsengen`s old escort is still about, probably one of if not the best fast ford ever imo

Seem to remember a clip of Martin just after the crash. Think he was wearing a neck brace and mentioned that the back end went really light. Can't seem to find it on YT so maybe it was on one of the forums back in the day.
It's mad, just 2 days ago I watched a video that popped up from the cosworth chronicles and the original car featured in that and then you upload this...coincidentally. Did you speak with Andrew about the focus whilst you were there?
I remember you ringing me like an excitable child after been in that silver escort! 🤣
😂 I really was buzzing!!
Mr Smith, have you thought about contacting Martin Hadland and ask to do a sit down interview with him to chat about this legendary Cossie!?
I did reach out to Martin but he’s super busy with work at the moment
Whilst youre there, ask him about the Norwegian cars which had parts robbed off them at RSOC National Day from the pit garages at night.
You Mean Martin Hadland?
@@superbrit3845 What, THE Martin Hadland?
@ Is that really your name? If so we both have the same name lol
