In this video we take a look at the Glock 17L. The 17L is a Gen 3 longslide variant of the standard 17 built on a full size frame but with a 6.02" barrel, elongated slide and huge 8.07" sight radius. You're halfway to the target before you even pull the trigger. These are produced in small numbers every few years so they aren't in abundance on dealer shelves as some other models, but are very interesting, accurate and reliable handguns overall. Hope you enjoy the video, many more on the way.

You know what I love? He just starts right away with the shooting instead of talking for 3 hours.
😂😂😂😂
Why? I know what guns look like shooting. The talking is why I'm here, not to see him shooting at targets. That's just a waste of time for the viewer unless demonstrating something in particular
demolition ranch 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If there was ever a Glock to tart up to look like a Nintendo Zapper, it's this one. The 17L is perfect haha.
FV4030 look online, ive seen a few actually done up that way
I never saw any 17L's, just standard length 17's and such. Really is a great/fun looking mod.

Love it !
You're killin' those iron plates!
I really love my G-17L; also have the longslide .40 cal G-24; had that for years.
Really love them both!
They're so easy to shoot accurately.
Would you consider selling the 24?
Love the 17L; wish they'd make them more availble. Thanks, fun video; you guys are great!
True that’s why I’m gonna build one myself
I bought 3
the glock that ive always wanted
Robin Tammik Yeah, or a G24 too. Sadly none of my local gun shops have either. :(

losi8ightyew can't you tell your local gun shop to order one I didn't even know they made this gun
It was the first handgun I wanted, but then I discovered CZ.
I remember reading an article about the 17L in one of the gun magazines and it made me want a 17L. Just a month or two later, I read where Glock was discontinuing the 17L for the U.S. market because of the new box rule in (I believe that it was) IPSC. So I called a dealer and told him I wanted one. He said that he did not have one in stock, but that he would contact Glock and see if they had any more available. He called me back and told me that Glock in Smyrna, GA had two 17L's left. I bought one of them. It is a 2nd Gen model. I do not think that I will ever get rid of that pistol. It even makes me look like a decent pistol shot. I would advise anyone to get one if you can and see what they have to offer. I really don't think that any American hand-gunner would regret buying a 17L.
As an real Austrian I own all glocks and also 3xGlock17 L - i just love them !!! They get the maximum power out of all Glocks because of their long barrel and my results are better than with shorter one -maybe because of the balance and the wider space between the ironsights. Dunno why they are not any longer produced but you still can buy new Glock17 L Slide and an 17L barrel from Glock- but not the whole gun- but who cares you can use any glock17grip to complete the 17L.
Is this a Hickok45 video in disguise?
Glad I wasn't the only one getting that vibe. lol
No, Hickok45 rarely misses. :)
would be funny if hickok45 was missing his table in his next video.
Exactly, this guy missed sooo many shots.. but the gun "shot high". Riiiiight.....
David Ray hickok never misses
Man I need to move to the South

Jimmy Harry fun fact, what is conventionally referred to as the north is actually the south based on magnetic fields. so technically you should come north partner
ዮናታነ ጊዛሂ This is true, except for the head north bit. Head whatever direction Texas is.
looks like they used a few too many Lego bricks on that one
Just a suggestion, maybe give it a louder trigger reset

Good vid guys. I've had my 17L for about 2 1/2 years and LOVE IT! But, you're right Eric, you still need to aim the pistol for accuracy. Every time I take mine to a range around here, guys come out of the woodwork asking "WTF kind of gun is that?" So I oblige them with a brief history and pass along that I learned Glock makes a run of these pistols every couple years, but you have to be lucky enough to find the dealers to which they are sent. I absolutely love my long slides (Glock 17L, 35, and 40 MOS) and am seriously considering a Dan Wesson Bruin Bronze Pistol in 10mm to sustain my addiction. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Great video as always. I haven't got the chance to shoot a 17L yet, but I loved shooting the 34 and even the 40 in 10mm. my Gen4 17 is my go to when I want to drive tacks with 9mm.

Nice looking piece of kit. I could have hours of fun with this...if they were still legally available in the U.K.

Dr Oetker the same thing happened in 1987 with the Hungerford shooting when they banned centrefire semiautomatic rifles. The EU is trying to pass more gun control laws for the Eastern European members after the Isis shooting in Paris because the guns supposedly came from there but you don't hear them saying we need truck control.
The first ones came out in 1988. There were 2 versions, first was a non-compensated-barrel. 2nd was had ports in the barrel, 4 holes to vent out the gas-pressure from the exploding cartridge. A few years later, the compensated version was discontinued. After so, the non-compensated version was also dropped from the Glock line. In favor for the Glock-34 and 35, 9mm and 40 S& W. Started in early 1999. Note: Mine is a Gen. 2 17L, made in 1996.
Just bought one 2 days ago and can’t wait to dominate my range league. Lol. Those old men are gonna be pissed
How did that go??
Demons come in all forms
I think Eric might do a touch better with the G34. It is the sweet spot for destroying steel on the range, even at 50+yards. Plus if you get a Gen4 in FDE it adds +10 accuracy ; )
The last time Glock had a limited run of 17L, was in 2005. It's no longer in their catalog. But from time to time, they will make a special run, usually about 1,000 17L's.

I didn't know they still made these either. That slide is so long it's almost comic, I want one.
I really really really love the way this gun looks!
Bought mine 2 weeks ago so good timing on the video. Thing is a freakin laser beam
About time the industry got its head out of its ass. AMT Hardballer Longslide's been lonely.
Seeing this brought up memory of an argument I had a while back. Everyone knows that in general, short barreled (think sub compact/snubby revolvers) are less accurate than full size handguns. The argument was if you could artificially extend the sight radius if that would make it more accurate. Seems like it would be fairly straight forward to test, take two identical snubby revolvers, put a long rail on one that extends the front sight out a long ways, and compare them.
I would very much like to see a velocity test between this and 17 and 34.
Good god must need a special holster for that bad boy
I've always wondered what the difference was between the 17l and the 34... thanks for the explanation
I've been waiting for this for so long, even messaged a few youtubers and finally someone delivers
That's why I like the G41 over the G21, that longer slide does wonders for accuracy and stability. But obviously not as long as the 17L.
aren't those hickok's 2 liters?
Omer Magen Must've snuck onto hickock's range while he was grocery shopping
Omer Magen last place you want to be caught stealing from.
looks like they swiped his table too.
Gregor in the movie RONIN uses one in several scenes, glad to know they are still available.
I saw one at my local gun store brand new 2 years ago. I kick myself to this day for not buying it.
But when I saw a brand new glock 23 gen3 with that old frying pan finish a few months later.. you know what I did.
I've had my eye on one at a local retailer thanks for the review guys I'll pick it up when money allows
i remember having this one as an airsoft version when i was a kid. everyone just said it was ugly but i thought it looked cool af
Great video, but Tenifer is a metal treatment, not a coating. It actually extends 3-5 microns deep into the steel and it'l continue to protect the firearm even it all of the finish is worn off.
Just bought one for my bedside gun along with a 33rd block mag. Loving it!
hickok45 inspired range?
My gen 4 makes me look better than I am. Took a while to get it adjusted, am left handed and right eye dominant, trial and error to get the sights adjusted.
My parlor trick with this, and my Ruger P 90, is hitting clays on the backstop, at 115 yards. About 20, 25 percent, not most of the time.
With both, if I take my time, do the fundamentals, and follow through, both handguns will reliably do their jobs. The misses are usually pretty close.
I'm not a great shot, but with 40 years as a land surveyor, have a great eye, can dial right in.
Love you guys, i have been subscribed since 500,000 subs, Cheers to another 1.3 MIL
Nice glock, damm I wish it was easier to get pistols in Australia...Cheers, good video 👍
I'm curious how it aims compared to the H&K Mark 23.
@8:56 Empty Soda Bottles, Chad didn't leave you any Soda to shoot. LOL awesome play.
This is literally the Alucard’s Jackal. Awesome!
thanks for the Vid. There are not many RUclips videos on this gun.
Great review gentlemen. Thank you for taking the time to share.
5:53 - the oooold IV8888 look back move. Panty dropper right there.
cool video! Hitting the liter bottles was fun to watch.
I used to have one. It was interesting shooting light range ammo out of it. The empty cases would barely pop out of the ejection port.
For those of you that wondered if Glocks can possibly get uglier. The resounding answer is yes.
Brian Jacobson what the fuck is ugly about them?
The Real Zellex yes sir
Really? You can't be serious.
Brian Jacobson What? Are your hemorrhoids acting up grandpa? lmao
Let me guess you think most women would be better looking if only their nose were a little bit longer and that the Pontiac Aztek was a beautiful automobile.

I'd love one in 1Omm
Stephen Keeler look at the glock 40 mos
Love my 20l
Awsome firearm. I really like your range. Wish I had a place like it.
I want every 9mm model glock has made in my collection. I used to hate on glocks. Said they where overrated. I guess I came over to the darkside. 43,26,19,17,34,17l. Don't care for the c models etc and can't afford an 18 lol.
Turns out the secret to a great gun video is a rustic table at the bottom right corner of the frame, lots of steel and 2 liters.
At 2:00 minutes, with Chad's arm covering his chin he looks 100% Law Enforcement!
I wish Glock still made the model 24. Would love to have a 6 inch 40 cal.
they make the G24 and G17L my LGS has both in gen 4 super rare
flattsrocker15 have a name or number for your LGS?
I just bought a G 17L gen 3, and they had 2 model 24's gen 3's in .40 cal, all NIB

so would you pick a glock or a 9mm Sig Sauer? which would you recommend more?
ive been looking for a 17 L 1st gen for 3 years now . Everytime I get out bid or its gone before I get there

I WILL BUY THIS, i remember looking at glocks and not liking the length but that is over
i need this
Here since the Gen 5 was announced. 🤘
G34's are everywhere & work just fine. Replace the bbl & do the trigger, you will have a nice gun that'll shoot less than an inch @ 25 yds.
Glock 17L is far from a unicorn. In Milwaukee they recently had a deal on a pair of them for $800 for BOTH. They collect a lot of dust of Milwaukee gun store shelves. Now anything Kel-Tec makes are UNICORN guns
Love the fun guns. That one was on my list but ran into a great deal on a 34 g4 and could not pass it up. I love it. loads of fun.
I've never shot anything with a slide this long. How does that effect how it feels? On one hand a longer slide/barrel seems like more weight which should help control muzzle flip/recoil, but on the other hand that slide is moving so it's also more mass flipping around. If it were a longer barrel revolver then I understand more weight/longer barrel equals a softer shooting gun, but how does the extra length effect a semi auto?
I have one of these and I love it.
Glock: We have made the ugliest pistol on Earth.
Glock to Glock: Let us make it uglier.
This is how the 17L was birthed.
lol
So just order this slide assembly and slap it on your 17. Sweet!
I think they produce a small run ever few years. I saw both the 9mm 17L and the 40 cal. version this weekend at a gun show. So they appear to be available now. I use to own a Gen2 17L.
what i dont get is the glock 34 is just a long 17, so why is the 17l not a 34l
17L came out long before the 34
Still have my 17L. Great gun to shoot, but the angle of the factory port job blacks out the tritium(If you upgraded) front site.
Perfect for a Glock carbine.
Yep but would it be put in a plastic housing or just a stock on the original gun
Double tap at 35 seconds is beautiful. No, I don't know how to put the time in the comments section so it turns blue and you can click on it.
Just put the 00: in there and it aromatically does it
I would wager the Glock 24 is even more of a unicorn.
N O I C E ! Great review guys.
they sell the 17L slide which presumably can be put on the 17 frame, can you confirm that ?
Why didn't I know this existed? I want one of these now to compliment my Glock 17! And $600 on budsgunshop ain't to shabby either..
I'll buy one on the spot if they brought them back
Did you buy one?

6 inch barrel, good for measuring up!
I miss my 17L. I carried it for a year straight with a TLR-1 and some Triji HD's. Stupid move to sell the pistol on my part. I hope to catch another batch of them.
DTKT Defensive Concepts you carried this monster? how?
Comp-tac makes an excellent rig. Also I picked up a Redline concealment holster for a 34 with TLR-1.
I started carrying one again, with a TLR-1 on it. :] CNC Holsters will make ya a holster. My 19 is in evidence atm so I had to buy a new primary, seized the day. Was really looking for a Gen 3 34 though.
What is everyone's opinion on building long-slide Glocks? (like a 17 slide on a 19 for a newer "17L", a 34 on a 19 for an "XL", etc., mainly done to fit smaller hands but keep the longer sight radius)
Does the grass even grow under the bottle rack any more?
First I ever owned and the best still. It's a tack driver.
You really got the Father Mustache going there.
Eric your a champ stop being self deprecating.
I really wanted one of these but couldnt get one, so i settled for a 41 pretty nice so far!
Talk about putting rounds on target man!!!! Awesome rig!!!!
at risk of sounding like a novice, do you always hold aim on exactly where you intend the round to hit or hold over with experience. i find that when i shoot my G22 40cal at the range i never aim directly center mass but instead hold low and left to hit where i intend to. i usually use white box or self loaded match grade to practice and sometimes cheaper ammo. all that being said i think a pov of the hold would increase the value of the content you guys offer.
nicksfix8609 Usually at normal ranges ~25 yards if the sights are aligned correctly your point of aim should be your point of impact. This will vary slightly depending on the ammunition used but not much at 25 yards. Usually pistols with non-adjustable sights will come properly aligned from the factory. If the sights are adjustable on yours you can probably take care of it. If they are not you may need to take it to a gunsmith. Double check your sight alignment though.
Damn, First time i saw one of these was in a Tv show called Black Lagoon.
Great Show. One day I'd love to have one of these.
Moss Pawn has 3 in stock as of Dec 1 2018.
Great gun and all but word of advice if used with limp wrist or weak spring it will jam
