I am hosting a KS5L with Iceriver. Overall it has been good and I can update the pool info easily. The negative has been, with the high heat in the Omaha, NE area they have to shut down for a few hours each day when the temperatures get around 100 F. They weren't great about communication when it happened the first couple of times and now they send out an email after the fact. Maybe putting a mining facility in the Midwest wasn't a great idea. They should look at Canada.
Did you get a coupon code for the KS5L that you are not going to use? If so, can I get it from you please? I want to get a hosted device and this would help me start my Kaspa journey.
@johnkavouras2355 no I don't have a coupon unfortunately. If I did i would definitely use it. FYI, You can only use the coupon from your own account, they aren't transferrable.
I didn't, but my hosted purchase was in the July batch. If they offered a smaller discount for the July batch I would probably get another KS5M. My Hosted KS5M has been down for 3-4 hours in a day , I want to say around 7, but no more than 10 days since July 26th.
I don't think I'd be able to pass up a $1,300 KS5L but I didn't buy a batch where they offered the discount. Hopefully the uptime will be better now that we are going into the fall
@@fullyelectric I agree. So many people are really frustrated with the downtime and curtailment. They should be much cheaper than shipped miners if they can't guarantee reasonable up times
@GGM wow I do not think I’ll be getting anything back since I got mine from reseller, plus did not get their hosting option, however tomorrow I’ll check my account just in case lol
😂. Instead of a refund they expect you to buy another overpriced miner even accounting for the coupon? At this late stage of kaspa adoption and network diff Everyone seems to agree it’s not wise to buy kaspa miners atm As far as their recent hosting debacles with shutdowns. Can they show the official letter from municipality. Also what are the terms of the contract. Are they allowed to do this. They should also be reimbursing the kaspa lost as well. It’s not just power and rent.
I will say that Iceriver is the only ASIC manufacturer that I've seen that at least tries to do something for customers when the rewards drop and prices drop. Also, I've seen the contracts and it does warn people of curtailment. No hosting company would reimburse for coins lost, but they are reimbursing for electricity that wasn't used etc. Hopefully they will improve their facility or look for a better one
@@GreaterGoodMining Yeah I could get a KS5L for free. KS5M for 899. But with all the hosting problems I might not. I could get 20 Ultra's. some many choices...lol
Did you receive a coupon from Iceriver? Are you planning to use it?
I didn't expect this price drop. 😮
Me neither! I wish I could snag a few $1,300 KS5L's lol

Hopefully the location will be better in the fall when its cooler. They should find a different facility that doesn't do so much curtailment

Mine was taken offline again today cause of municipality agreements to lower power consumption.
I am hearing of a lot of downtime from curtailment with the KS5L and KS5M. If sounds extremely frustrating
@@GreaterGoodMiningwow that’s crazy, in that case the hosted miners should be sold much cheaper!

I've had the resellers honor coupons in the past but so far this seems like it's specific to hosted miners from August 20th to Aug 30th
@@GreaterGoodMining wow that would be nice .. getting another KS5M for half the price!
@@fullyelectric that would be amazing for sure! It's getting harder to stack Kas with the hashrate as it is :(
I experience the same with Iceriver hosting KS5L. Have not received any coupon yet.
Was your order date in the window mentioned in the video?

No. =(
It seems like so far it's for hosted models in that specific time range
