    Historically I have always wondered why concrete driveways were so expensive, but after watching your videos over the past several months I'm able to understand how much knowledge, skill and passion that goes in to your craft and now see the value. Thanks for creating such informative content.

    This turned out absolutely amazing, I love that design! You got some good guys working for you, it's so difficult to keep good help nowadays and you got the cream of the crop. Definitely helps when you can see how you all love what you do, that's also the reason I do signs. Doesn't matter if you make a little money or tons of it, but if you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life.

    It’s interesting that exposed aggregate started with broadcast rock to ordering a mix. I did some exposure aggregate in the late 70’s. We would broadcast the aggregate then tamp down with a jiderbug. After setting up we would spray off the topping with a hose.

    I watched this video today in my livingroom on the big TV. Boy I do like the aggregate! I remember the house a couple videos back, the nice house beside the modern style house. That was all aggregate and so beautiful! I'm glad to see how it's done. I was really dumbfounded until I heard it will be pressure washed, still wasn't sure cause it looked the same...until the water hit it. Boy you guys really get slammed when it rains, I felt sorry y'all had to go through the extra work. At least the plastic didn't have to be held by hand...I have seen this amazing crew do that! Awwheck Tom is back already? Just cant stay away from the artwork! Figures, how many jobs can you mess up and no repercussions? Weatherman has no fear! Very nice job, I loved the look. Time changes in a week, will not be as dark on you at 7! Really liked and appreciated this video! Bought a RCBS Rockchucker yet? Hornady has best loading manuals, I have many but I've always liked Hornady best. I have Hornady's electronic scales but everything else dad bought in the 50's. Give it a try Steve, you'll like it! Thanks for sharing your work, I'm learning new stuff w every video!👍👌😁❤

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom 3 года назад +8

      For the regular broomed concrete, we use a limestone mix. For the stamped and exposed mix, we use a p-gravel mix that is still formulated for 4000-5000 psi. In this case, for this builder, we use 5000psi concrete. Good question and thanks for watching!

    We always use sugar water and expose the same day in Seattle. Then you can slap out any edger lines or fix any flaws and just sponge it. The way you're doing it seems like way more work.... also, we sugar water any adjacent concrete or house paint or stone before we pour. Then the splater just hoses right off.

    I often wondered what was involved in doing the exposed aggregate and yes, as someone said it is very labor intensive. Extremely messy too. Once that aggregate is exposed what is the next process: allowing it to dry somewhat or entirely and then seal it or what? Some of your other driveways you have done with exposed aggregate (like the large driveway with the diamond inlay) must have been an extensive job to power wash something like that. Do you get two power wash units for that? As always, attention to detail and as always a very impressive result. Great job to everyone.
