Mavic AIr 3 cell replace.
Orig cells bloated/stuffed ? Try this, works well for me and clips back into orig position.
If you don't understand the following then dont bother wasting your time.
Use 3 (not4) 18650 Tesla cells (approx 3500mah)
Completed pack 167 grams orig pack 139 grams.
Tear off your old cells from BMS board.
Desolder (strong hot iron) 4 tab plates on BMS board - will leave square hole when done.
Cut out 18mm x 65mm section (centered) from top of batt housing.
Remove case switches and solder 2 pins on BMS as a short.
Glue 2 batts side by side.
Glue third batt on top of them (triangle format) - top batt sticks 7mm out of cut out.
All batts have button facing BMS board.
Top batt is approx 7mm closer to BMS than bottom 2.
Rough up batt case end near +ve button which allows solder for -ve connections
Rough up button for easy solder of +ve connections.
Make sure batts at least half to full charge.
Flexible short connections as follows.
Use 4mm solder braid cut into 20mm lengths - 6 pieces
Use 6 x 15mm heatshrink tube and centre then heat shrink onto solder braid lengths.
Work out your wiring connections.
Quickly tin 12 tips of the 6 connectors made above.
QUICKLY 2 sec max ( use STRONG IRON !!) tin the 3 cell buttons and case connects.
Connect 6 links to BMS board first.
Solder links to cells and insert temperature sensor into center area of the 3 cells.
Battery pack/BMS board is now in SLEEP mode.
Hook up to charger for a minute to bring out of sleep mode but lights will not work yet.
If you dont do the above then killer program will come back with error message.
Get a CP2112 from ebay or aliexpress.
Get free DJIbatterykiller program.
Run program to unlock BMS
You are ready to fly with a modded batt that safely locks in

Max I got though was 20 minutes since BMS program wont allow 18650 to discharge to the 2.5v that tesla cells are rated to.
..
4 cells would give the 30 mins but the extra weight makes the MAVIC AIR work harder.

If the above is confusing to you then you are better off leaving it and just buying a new batt.

How mavic can support 16V instead of 12? Other modify on BMS or... who care?
what is the max volts that can we put in our mavic air 1 ? (safe) is 14.8v overcurent ? or its safe
Damn man! You wouldn't happen to have any pictures or a thread would ya? I gather all of it just curious to see exact pinout and what pins on the BMS need shorting while doing it things like that. You're talking about exactly what I've been searching the web for though.
Please help us by showing pics of the various steps involved in the mod..please

I did 3 18650 Samsung 3500 cells. First couple flights it's flight time was same as original battery. I though this is great, then each couple flights it got worse . Now with about 10 flights on the 18650's , my flight time is only 12mins.. Another thing, I had to wrap the 18650's with aluminum foil to stop the compass error warnings, that worked though. I'm now looking for a better battery to solder onto the BMS.
I was hoping someone had done some bigger cells than original from like aloexpress that were the polymer batteries so they would last. Where did you find a tutorial? Did you just reset with a cp2112 or ev2300? Thanks!

Hi, I would like to ask, if we can use 20700 or 21700 instead of 18650 and how to you charge the new battery with a balanced charger - as LiPo or as Li-Ion as it is charged over the electronics?

Very cool. I'm looking to modify my batteries as DJI have discontinued the Mavic Air 1 and components. Apparently you can still source batteries through DJI if you raise a support ticket, however a limited number are available per a customer (2 batteries).
My question is those reported cell voltages. Are you using a resistor divider network for the 3S cell monitoring connection? Can't quite get my head around it. I am very surprised that the BMS doesn't lockout due to the high cell voltages it measures.

Despite holding a degree in Electronics Engineering, I would be very reluctant to try this battery modification because with my clumsy hands I'd probably wind up shorting out a battery and blowing myself up as a result. The first inventor that comes up with extra-capacity batteries that simply replace the stock batteries for the Mavic Pro and Mavic Air with no additional wiring, will make a tidy fortune selling such enhanced-flight-time batteries to punters like me who are too chicken to try the mod themselves.
Easy mod for most hackers. I mean real hackers, that means you feel comfortable holding a real soldering iron, real nickel lead solder and a steady hand . It means you have already moded radios, tvs, lcds, and probably run Linux as a desktop . I wonder sometimes how Murican's get thru 'SKOOL' in electronics Engineering and can't even solder together 4 batteries. WoW . No wonder you all are homeless
