- In this episode we are going to start framing walls inside while the weather outside is crummy. Framing Walls inside a post frame are not like a standard stick frame structures walls would be framed, and that is a good thing I think! Stay tuned to learn how we are able to frame all these walls and have no electrical or plumbing/mechanicals installed yet.

No regrets. 😂 Wood generally will bow or twist right at the knots in the wood. Less knots generally mean straighter wood. It also cups when the tree lines are farther apart.

There's a really good This Old House Pro2Pro on RUclips with Christine Williamson talking about the detail for the bottom of the window. Instead of using spray foam, use backer rod, sealed with caulking to allow water to still seep out.
rumor has it, off camera, he went back and insulated the insulation that was insulating the initial insulation.
Hey Kyle, have you looked into fabric ductwork? It's a pretty clever technology, great for big open spaces like you've got there, and a whole lot cheaper than sheet metal for both time and materials. Other advantages are it's inherently quiet, and you can unzip it and throw it in a washing machine if it gets dirty.

Kyle, for your wash bay area, you should check out the Obsessed Garage power washing solutions. They're pricey but pretty nice. There's a lot of cost with the water lines, so you could sub in pex vs the fancy stuff. Would cut the cost in half.

It’s not a hole in the air barrier unless you remove the fastener. Nice to see how strong twinet is too. That’s a lot of load on it.
The amount of money in tape alone on this building has got to be outrageously priced! Also the amount of insulation and a Raynour Garage Door?!?! Hard not to be impressed with how well the Majrex lined up with the laser beam! Unless you’ve hung a decent stretch of membrane it’s not easy to appreciate how difficult that is!
I know that you will eventually put more majrex on the ceiling, but it just seems funny to talk about perfectly sealed windows and doors when your attic soffut and ridge caps are wide open to the interior air envelope.
The Lesson here kids. Dont let your cavity get overfilled .
You know who also likes Rockwool. I built my own house and used Rockwool as insulation and small birds like to use it as a nest material. Birds come to take Rockwool from the wall in the spring to build a nest.
I wonder if some staples through the twinet would have made any difference helping keep the air barrier adhered

Please show how you address the interior side of the Magrex firestopping and draftstopping in the exterior walls. ? I am interested in the inspection process. I have always needed a mechanical inspection before insulation.

QUESTION; why are using paslode instead of Milwaukee framing nailer?? Paslode is louder and I know m18 is heavier. The shop is awesome love seeing materials you use.

What track saw are you guys using to cross cut your 2x6s? I've only ever seen the Festool that looks like that with an attached track but it didn't look like one.
First rate work, but there is more tape in this building than most other buildings have lumber. I'd lose my mind fussing over things at this level.
I used think the same before undertaking training in passivhaus methods! It’s actually more mind blowing how much energy is lost when you don’t fuss over these details…..!🤔🤯

So with the Rissan tape being put on 'backwards' is that going to cause any issues with air movement, as in is it designed to move both ways? Wouldn't want you to have an air infiltration/potential cold/warm spot for mould to form. Thoughts?
how long is the adhesive on these different types of tape you guys use meant to last? I could never trust it for a “lifetime guarantee”

You should probably varnish the wood since you are also going to get leakage through the wood grain. The varnish will prevent the leakage...

Is it possible for you to make a VIDEO with TOOL stuff like the Pencil you are using, the length and size of chain / tie-down straps and the best way to use them - like where you place them to pull the framing into place. I will be building my first "personal" Pole Barn this summer. I want to and hope to do as much as I can with the help of some friends. Thank you, Tony
May post framing builds be used in city areas like nj, nyc? Is it something that can be used for mutilfamily houses? Sorry if someone has asked before and you answered. I watched a few videos and I I haven't heard you speak on this. Just curious. TIA!

To not have the joint on the same studs.
Dosent matter a whole lot with the metal that’s going on the wall. It won’t get screwed on the individual studs, some might but most will be fastened throughout the center of the girts
It’s always best, when using double backed adhesive tapes, to use a silicone roller to install them. For some reason people think they can just rub their hands over it and get full adherence. Guess not. And as far as putting too much rock wool insulation into the wall void, why?

Is it an absolute requirement that the vent pipe MUST go through the roof? Seems like it would be a better option to dump it out under the eave (especially since there are no operable windows nearby), and not add a roof penetration after the entire roof system has been installed.

Geeze louise, You build all these huge buildings with such massive expanses. Yea, Rent those walls to the local art musium. Or get a bunch of pastel paint, wavy lines. Green on the bottom and blue on the top, fading into the white. It's the end result there. Yea, Nice space and all but man. ~. Course you could go really retro and just paint everything black and then run a club there on weekends. Make mucho $$$. Oh yea. And now you are talking about black walls. I think a nightclub. Serve beer at night lights and dancing. Build it and people will come. Mucho $$$. You got it Kyle. All good.

Good job, but it sure is putting a lot of faith in adhesive tapes that honestly are getting stuck to what is an unprepared surface in a lot of places, now if there was some sort of surface sealant/primer that promoted adhesion I might develop some faith, after all you're sticking it to timber which is just a shit load of little holes with some fibre between them and at the end of the day it will all be covered up and the client will never know when it has failed. Being that pressures could be higher and lower on either side of the membrane should it be pressure tested and vacuum tested post construction and again say 2 and 5 years down the track considering the investment in time and materials. I guess there should be some kind of standard to meet and maintain, is there one ? Too often in construction materials and methods are found to be failing once down the road, more often with the client left holding the bag and all of those materials were fit for purpose when initially installed, thinking about asbestos sheet, polybutylene fittings/tube/rings of all variations, galvanised nails in decking timber, galvanised bolts in decking timbers, multiple building and roofing papers, fibre glass and pic roofing sheets, monolithic exterior designs and material failures, compressed hardboard weather boards, sewer pipe sealing rings ... honestly the list just go's on and on. Don't get me wrong I see the effort you put in to do the best job you can and no one could ever accuse you of just thoughtlessly throwing a building up, and good on you but even from the other side of the fence you must also worry that some new product is going to bite you in the arse because they do and it's happening more and more with unproven processes and materials used to fill technical requirements.
All the methods these guys are using are pulled straight from the passivhaus standard. Manufacturers like Siga and Proclima have been producing tapes and membranes for decades now in Europe and when you measure the performance gap between passivhaus detailing and standard methods of construction it’s not even close !🤓
