Just yesterday my coworker and I were talking about how much better looking the first 63 is compared to the new one and how it was a more timeless, better combination of elegance and sportiness! I do agree though, the last gen before this 2021 model looks so good! Personally I think MB is a little lost design-wise right now. I just cleaned up a 2014 C250 and it looks so much better than the current gen.
I love the Bruno Sacco era e class!!! Seeing all of the generations lined up, I agree the 2017 is the very close second best…. Now let’s get that redesigned r129 !!!
I wouldn't really say that for the new Renault 5 , it's kinda way off the initial design, however the new Honda E is a proper homage to old cars. It has beautiful lines that were on the 1975 Civic and seeing it on the road is really amazing.

Any modern redesign isn’t going to be too similar given the designers need to account for the increase in car size over the decades and the need to gain a 5 star safety rating. One generation you forgot is the facelift version of the 2010 E63, which was build from 2013 to 2016. Fixes the issues the 2010 model has in the front while keeping the simple classic shape and styling of the car. Probably my second favourite E-Class, after the 500E.

Mine is eurocharged and makes 540hp. I will post a picture when the grille is on

ive been waiting for a video displaying the generations of the eclass. i loved the facelift e55, i think it looks just as good as the 2006 e63, just more reliable. not to mention it was the sedan to start the trend of putting high hp numbers in a sedan.
It’s beautiful. I like the modern aggressive Mercedes look but it’s better for the sportier vehicles. This E class retro look is way better for the estate/luxury feel.

Your version looks good but I think you needed to do more with the grille, perhaps made the top level with the top of the headlights and tried to get it to integrate a little better.

It has the boxy taillights from the 2012 E class, but the front of the CL from that generation. i'd love to see this in real life. they did the same thing with the 4 door sedan (the Schafter), but i think the combination works better on a coupe.

The redesign really give me Chrysler 300c vibes, think its the overall proportions and blocky shape. The bumper and wheel clearly differentiate it though.
In my opinion, you can't just smash modern day rounded car graphics (be it air intakes, headlight design or what so ever) on an old boxy icon like the W124 and call it "modernized". You're missing the whole essence of a 124. To me these kind of approaches always end up looking like cheap tuning projects.
My complaint is maybe make the vents from the front bumper smaller? Like they look like someone smiling with their teeth all exposed…..something more subtle?anybody agree? Like it’s alright I GUESS but the end result just had me saying fuck go back 😂🤷🏻♂️but it’s alright tho I can see where it was going
keeping it trully to original body with just some drls is not always the best way to modernize a car sketch's "redesigns" are more of just virtual tuning the car with models If it were an actual redesign It would keep the original general lines but be much different thats what should've happened in most of Monkey's redesigns and not just drls an deforming bits of it the z32 for example would've needed a lot more of changes either if it was a redesign in early 2000s or 2010 or nowdays Maybe Sketch is really scared of making actual redesigns?

You missed the W212 2015 E63 AMG. The face-lift and buttlift they performed on this model was really solid. It is probably my favorite E63 AMG.
5:12 the pre-facelift E-class actually had the 6.3 liter V8 as well, only after the facelift it got the 5.5 twin-turbo V8.
I absolutely love this rendering. The only thing I'd change is making the lower grille a bit less curvy to match the squareness of the top half.

The new electric Renault 5 is one of those brands bringing back the old school style and it looks epic!

Couldn’t agree more. Late 80’s and 90’s had some really cool designs for CERTAIN cars. The 500 and 190 were great cars.
