I had this camera since it came out in 2007 and i still use it as a main livestream master cam with hdmi output amazing build quality to have be working over 10 years now 😊
yes, i would think it would be. but the only thing about fast moving things are the interlaced frames. if u dont know what that is look it up. but anyways, if u can convert it to progressive, motion is nothing to worry about. i may do a review of mine later and how to tell the difference of interlaced and progressive frames
Nice video, thank you! I wonder if there is a white balance button and if you can save more white balance presets. Sorry if you saw that but I'm not native English and have difficult to understand the spoken language. Thank you Fabio (Italy)
@poshko41 if you watch interlaced footage you will see interlacing basically it looks like a bunch of rectangles at time. progressive looks smoother. i own this camera now and love it, however it is NOT as smooth at 1080p
@hattrickhero378 Is there a big difference between 1080i and 1080p? As far as I know, Sony has adopted the interlaced format for their entire line of products.
@TheLeboAussie nice do you have any equiment if so what kind because i need to upgrade i still use 8mm, betamax, vhs, and dvd but i use a bit of blu ray for hd
@StormbringerStudios (PART 2) You won't want this huge shoulder-mounted camera at events where you need to move around quickly. Also, for weddings or similar high-priority events, this would be an amazing main camera! But ALL cameras eventually fail, so a decent backup camera (can be a little handheld or something larger) is always a good choice.
Is there a way to disable the shotgun mic? And is there an audio input so that I can come directly off of a sound board? I have to record a conference, trying to figure out what camera to get, and I can't spend over $1,600. Thanks, Jeremy
Do you know if the HVR-HD1000U has Cinematic Mode. The reason I ask is if it dose it would appear to be the HDR-HC9 or at least thats what it looks like on paper.
I think this is the camera for me. I was looking at canon but Im now thinking about blowing them off. Here's my question though: this sony looks way big. Is it just a hollow body? Hows the weight? Balance?
I had no idea this thing has been around so long. I'm thinking of buying this to launch my videography business. Would this be a wise purchase or would I be better off going for a newer, high end consumer cam? I like this one because it has all the features and price of a high end consumer, but the look of a professional. Appearances (i.e., looking like you know what you're doing) are pretty important in the business. :) Is this camera pretty outdated though?
Hi!sorry for my english! i have a 3ccd camera Panasonic agdvc 20 1/6" but i want to buy this sony, it`s better the quality of video with one cmos chip???? and are accesible the w/b settings? Thanks dude.
I've heard and read that this camera has focusing problems. That you can not tell very easy if you have it in focus. Also the ring control for focus and zoom are a pain. When you want to switch from zoom to focus, you have to go through a menu on the LCD.
Is it a good camera? can you plug in an microfon? Do you get good shots with it? Is it something you would like to buy if you likes to shoot movies and are interested in get a good quality?
That was a really stupid question, already watched another video that showed the camera on a tripod, i was just having doubts cause you didn't mention that ;) nice video anyway
@agaen96 i also have that camera and its very good but also a nice camera, yes you can plug a microfoon on it. you can also put other microfoons on it or put a long wire between the microfoon and the camera, shots are also great!! and the anwser to your last question is: yes, i allready did buy it for shooting movies. there is one thing that you maby dont know yet......you film on mini tapes and not on memory, if you want more information , mail me
This camera is really great for either a student, or someone who is starting out a videography business. But don't dog this camera. It's meant to do exactly what it was put on the market for. Sony also has cameras such as the Z5U and the EX1 or the NX5U for those who have a little extra money. If I started out a business I would perfect my style with this camera cause its cheap and because it "LOOKS" professional and to the general public thats' good enough. Try explaining 24p to a bride. Thanks
@poshko41 I don't know if this will still help you now, but I'll post my opinion anyway. If you can afford this one (plus accessories like a bag, tripod, etc) and good editing software to go with you films, this is definitely the camera of choice. The camera itself will not be outdated for several more years, so its a good buy. As for the appearance, yes. If you can, you should also get a smaller hd camera that you can take to smaller events. (PART 1)
well, i bouhgt a HD mini tape (16,50 euros) wich is beter quallity than the normal cheap one(arround 4 euros) , but when you captured the video to your computer you can overwrite that part of the tape again. after 20 times doing that you maby need an other tape because it will be to much used by then, (the tape that i use is 85 minutes)
hey im a filmmaker who is looking for a profesional HD camera im just wondering why is this model so much more inexpensive than some of the other HD cameras on the market
no it isnt, there are quite a bit DSLR's out there that has the same manual controls and some of them records in a higher resolution 1080p,, like my Panasonic GH2. I'm 16 years old ;)
I have one of those, and I have to say it's a nice toy camera. Even the S270 is kind of a toy, too, but not as much as the HD1000. What I like about the HD1000 is quite a few things though. The image quality and the mic preamps are not good. But the camera can take steady pictures from the shoulder, it balances nicely on the tripod, and the large manual ring is fantastic to block that dreaded auto gain in low light. All in all, I don't regret the purchase at all.
uhmmmmm most 1080 cameras shouldnt have a problem really shooting anything. BUT, being that its HD, youre going to have to find a video editing program that can handle it. the sony vegas program has lagging problems so i would definately not recomend that. the website that i buy all my video stuff is bhphotovideo (.) com..... they sell alot of shit at a discounted price and you can see what other people thought about the product..hope that helps
For any of you who are wondering if this is a good camera for filmmaking, Type in rosenchuck1 on youtube and watch his film Hollow and you can be the judge
Congratulations, and you are among the first to show this team what we have here in india in mid-January and we can prove it.
thanks for all the post on the hd-1000, i had trouble finding decent info and reviews on the web since it is still pretty new.
I had this camera since it came out in 2007 and i still use it as a main livestream master cam with hdmi output amazing build quality to have be working over 10 years now 😊
is it still worth it in 2024 !
I got mine yesterday and love it.
Great review for this model. Thanks
Thanks! i buy this camera now. This information is very important because is the user, not the company!
yes, i would think it would be. but the only thing about fast moving things are the interlaced frames. if u dont know what that is look it up. but anyways, if u can convert it to progressive, motion is nothing to worry about. i may do a review of mine later and how to tell the difference of interlaced and progressive frames
nice - i am goin to pick 1 up hopefully
Very nice review.
Thx for the info. This changed my thought from the vx2100 to this one. Lower price and better stats.
thanks for the demo....I'll probally get one, the smaller hand helds are just too shakey for me.
Great video! Thanks! Very helpful. One think most important that's missing from this camera is XLR audio inputs. That's a shame.
Nice video, thank you!
I wonder if there is a white balance button and if you can save more white balance presets. Sorry if you saw that but I'm not native English and have difficult to understand the spoken language. Thank you
Fabio (Italy)
Nice review is there a difference
between sony HD1000u
and sony HD1000N
thanks
What type of head cleaning tape could I use. Haven't found one that fits yet
@poshko41 if you watch interlaced footage you will see interlacing basically it looks like a bunch of rectangles at time. progressive looks smoother. i own this camera now and love it, however it is NOT as smooth at 1080p

have you ever had problems with the sound levels
it goes to the top?
its hard to fix after
It is possible to control both iris and focus manually at the same time?
Thank you VPP and regards!!
@StormbringerStudios (PART 2)

nice I like that camera how come dosend have
lots of buttons?
cause the canon xl1 and xl2 have lots of buttons
Can you record 1080i video to MiniDV tape on this camera, and then capture using firewire?
does it have a manual zoom ring on the lens???
Do you know if the HVR-HD1000U has Cinematic Mode. The reason I ask is if it dose it would appear to be the HDR-HC9 or at least thats what it looks like on paper.
thank you so much!!!
@MegaGuitarman666 or for the same price, there is the cone fx7
hey how do you connect the camera to the computer so that you can edit the footage?
I think this is the camera for me. I was looking at canon but Im now thinking about blowing them off. Here's my question though: this sony looks way big. Is it just a hollow body? Hows the weight? Balance?
how is the manuel focus on that camera?
I just purchased this camera and It didn't come with a manual. How do you turn on the white light?
I read something that said this only outputs in standard definition. What Exactly does that mean?
can the HDMI cable also be used for capturing?
is there any difference between the 1000u and the 1000e?
cool I use to have the hd1000n can you upscale to HD
I had no idea this thing has been around so long. I'm thinking of buying this to launch my videography business. Would this be a wise purchase or would I be better off going for a newer, high end consumer cam?

Is this camera pretty outdated though?
Im buying this is there anything I should know?
which should i get ? hdr-fx7 or this camera
Hey does anyone know if this camera records true 24p?
has anyone ever tried a 35mm adapter with this camera
I guess this may be a stupid question, but i'm kinda of a newbie in these things, can you use a camera tripod with that?
do the pro duo record video too or only still image?
My type of camera!

When you want to switch from zoom to focus, you have to go through a menu on the LCD.
does it have a mic port!?
@TheLeboAussie i can not find it and i ment for edditing equiment and recording equiment
Is it a good camera?
can you plug in an microfon?
Do you get good shots with it?
Is it something you would like to buy if you likes to shoot movies and are interested in get a good quality?
@sjoerdgames4 yeah buts that for taking still pictures not recording.
That was a really stupid question, already watched another video that showed the camera on a tripod, i was just having doubts cause you didn't mention that ;) nice video anyway
thanks
if your still wondering which one is better, this one is because the AG DVC20 isn't even HD and only has 10 optical while this one has 20.
can it shoot 25 fps?
my videos are all done with little light now I'm gearing up with LED lights to enhance the shooting I love this camera

@ConnorMerrisonTV Thank you
@agaen96 i also have that camera and its very good but also a nice camera, yes you can plug a microfoon on it. you can also put other microfoons on it or put a long wire between the microfoon and the camera, shots are also great!! and the anwser to your last question is: yes, i allready did buy it for shooting movies. there is one thing that you maby dont know yet......you film on mini tapes and not on memory, if you want more information , mail me
Man I remember when I was younger I always wanted this camera, looking back on it today.... well... now I'm embarrassed.
I already ordered it for 1610.75 euros I really hope its worth.. But it seems very good for that price
@mwmatthewkc51 I just use a tripod, camera, mircrophone on top and thats it
This camera is really great for either a student, or someone who is starting out a videography business. But don't dog this camera. It's meant to do exactly what it was put on the market for.
