I only had the demo when I was younger, but since I didn't understand a thing, I didn't know how to play and thought it was the entire game. I remember that the demo was this lvl 10:43... It was good old times
This is leaked to be released on PS4 soon can't wait to play it in HD and trophies and also now many people who overlooked it will buy this awesome game :)
Thank you. That's really incredible. Now that I have watched your entire run I definitely want to do this. I've played this game so many times just by watching this video I figured out a few paths that would be a little bit faster than what you showed. Can't wait to do this run, and thank you for the help!
Honestly, if I was Specter, I'd just completely give up at this point. His empire of monkeys and his plan to cleave the earth in two was completely and utterly foiled by a 12 year old within the space of 2 hours.
Rohaniswatto Kei and the girl is in 4th grade, meaning he's 9 or 10. When I played this as a 4th grader, I got so excited. In retrospect, the do look more like 6th or 7th graders, no?
I'm glad to have helped. I would LOVE to be able to race this game, but unfortunately it may have to wait a while (I'm about to move and I don't exactly have a new place to go yet if you get my drift).
Geez, I can barely imagine this from Specter's perspective. Losing a large portion of his army, and his generals, in just over an hour.... to one kid. Even I would give up at that point.
If you run this again, you can skip the studio 1 room and just head straight to the pole using the cyber ace dash and you can skip studio 2 using the platform that takes you near studio 3 then skip studio 3 by entering the room next door and then studio 4 by clipping through the glass if you keep shooting the beam to float with the cyber ace
I think I would probably agree that 1 has the best environments, but 3's is pretty nice as well. Some levels like Eversummer Island are just fantastic.
Irenember that when i was 9 years old how much i wanted to be a ninja just for do what he do on the ninja animation, man i finished this game so many times
A new trick was found recently that skips almost all of the final level, which saves over 4 minutes, so beating this time wouldn't be too hard. I've since beaten this time, but I haven't gotten around to getting a good run with that skip. I hope you have fun running this game, and good luck!
The original Ape Escape was way better than the second and the third one IMO, time travel setting was a lot more interesting than world travel or movies. I also found the levels to be more unique and wtf-like in the first one. But I guess this is because of nostalgia.
13:42 ugh, that *elephant* bot was a jerkish boss, I was lucky to manipulate a bug that caused me to be on the fence and use the slingshot to attack safely at a distance without harm, go me! tl;dr: it's a noobish thing, I know what your gonna say but don't worry posting about me being a noob!
Hello Surreal _, I've been speaking with people on multiple websites and there is a good demand for this run to make it into the next GDQ, I have spoken briefly with the current owners of GDQ and informed them that the community wants new, fresh games and your run is fantastic and people are excited to see it live. Please consider submitting your run to GDQ for the next season if you would like to, and if you already have then please keep doing so as we ask the moderators there to consider your submission more seriously. Thanks for reading this and good luck on the submission if you go for it, I love this series and it is seriously underrated in the SR community.
Honest question. Does the gameplay outweigh how childish the game feels? I remember playing the first ape escape for the ps1 and really loving it but the new games feel a little kiddy. I'm not trying to offend, I'm just wondering.
I think it's a very solid game in terms of its gameplay. I'd rather look at the game as wacky rather than childish, but it's a very fun game regardless.
+Jeff Cline ok thanks. I heard that this game is going to be rereleased on the psn for the ps4 soon and I was debating if I should invest in it. It does look really fun. I appreciate the comment :) thank you
Well, that's the problem with Sony games in the PS2 era from Japan. They were either average or kiddy. And that led to a non-existent studio in the PS3 era right after with so many failures. All efforts went to PSP in the early life of PS2. The Legend of Dragoon 2 for PS2 got cancelled in favor to small projects for PSP. Everything became smaller and niche as they never saw the same success they had with PS1. The reason for that was huge third party support they took for granted and never put any effort into the PS2 titles. Ape Escape was one of the victims as they relied on Toyama's niche Siren games and Ueda's artsy games. Parappa the Rapper 2 came out too early and should have spent more time in development. People mention Level-5 games from the PS2 era, but that's simply not good enough. They are mediocre and you need something that stands far above them in terms of quality. The maturity of Japan Studio's titles, whether it's in-house or external, got lost after the PS1 era. So you're not alone to feel that. But right now they are building upon that again. If Soul Sacrifice and Bloodborne are to go from then I have faith in a better Wild Arms that can return to its roots of the first game. It's good they are breaking away from the average and kiddy route when Allan Becker is the studio director. You can be successful worldwide even with art house type games. I can see them revive Ape Escape for a better one when Yoshida had a dinner with the original team last year. Ape Escape 1 appealed more to the world than 2 and 3 did.
Probably in normal levels but I think pink monkey is more aggressive since she sees you as a rival, guessing the time difference isn't worth it if there's a chance of losing a life and doing the boss again.
I'm currently trying to get down the boost jump for Monbolo, knowing me it's exactly like in Wind Waker's "dry storage", it's going to take me ages to get it right the first time and then I can do it easily afterwards. Your tutorial did help a lot though. I've got the timing down for the super hoop but not the net.
Interesting, I think I will look into that, thank you. It might be a little bit, i'm got two speedruns down I just have to actually record them right now.
You just swim faster when underwater. The only slight trick I do is ground pounding to instantly go underwater when I dive in instead of jumping in and diving.
fuck when i was like 10 i got stuck on the cloud parts around 1h16min, i wish i knew how close i was to finishing the game so i wouldn't ragequit forever
Pal version dub is better by miles, first obvious one is like the other Pal versions right off the bat it's closer to the original script. The kids in version both sound like they could be put on the other and you'd not be able to tell while the Pal and Japanese dubs distinctly get a boy and girl sounding actor, and when Satoru is meant to be the boy character for the boys having him sound like a girl is a massive flaw for this dub which isn't present in the other versions. Specter and the Doctor both sound way too high pitch to have bad guys roles, a joke with Ape Escapes writing is under the cozy levels and other dialogue, Specter never hides he essentially wants genocide which is a thing majorly lost in both his speaking voice and script in the NTSC version. The American dub is like the 4Kids rewrite and recast and PAL is the actual adaptation.
AndrewAdvanced5000 IKR, I think it was supposed to only play when 1 remains, but says "Just 1 more!" instead, for some odd reason, "1 more!" is one of his lines when he catches an ape and there's like more than 1.
My childhood just flashed before my eyes.
Noah tell me about it
Same
South Ozone Park this game is my favorite game on ps2 alongside ratchet and clank. Bring back memories.
I only had the demo when I was younger, but since I didn't understand a thing, I didn't know how to play and thought it was the entire game. I remember that the demo was this lvl 10:43... It was good old times
1:21 Switchin his weapons to da beat of da song LMFAO!!
that was one of the best PS2 games, many overlooked it. Indeed pretty much still underrated game :)
This is leaked to be released on PS4 soon can't wait to play it in HD and trophies and also now many people who overlooked it will buy this awesome game :)
@@graham4809, 3 years later... I've found no trace of it, this is so sad. Alexa, play despacito.
I felt so nostalgic watching this. I haven't played this game for almost a decade now. Ape Escape 3 and Little Big Planet were my frickin' childhood.
Tell me about it just finished watching the first Ape Esc run. played it when I was 10...the memories. p.s. whatever happened to Spike?
It's been so long that I can't even remember who Spike is and now I feel guilty T^T
+OtakuAspie lol
man i remember being excited about a new ape escape in 2006...time flies too quickly : (
Amazing run for an underrated gem with an underrated OST.
Ape escape always been my favourite childhood game. :)
mine too :)
+PredFailsAtTF2 I have the 1st game.
Thank you. That's really incredible. Now that I have watched your entire run I definitely want to do this. I've played this game so many times just by watching this video I figured out a few paths that would be a little bit faster than what you showed. Can't wait to do this run, and thank you for the help!
Watching this in 2019 because I miss this game that much. Wish they had a remastered for Next Gen Consoles.
I'm Not Here i cried before this video
If u have a decent pc you can download Pcsx2 ( a ps2 emulator ) its pretty easy just takes a little while to set it up though
Honestly, if I was Specter, I'd just completely give up at this point.
His empire of monkeys and his plan to cleave the earth in two was completely and utterly foiled by a 12 year old within the space of 2 hours.
lol ikr
he did... no ape ecape game has been released since...
Cameron George :'(
Don't remind me
Rohaniswatto
Kei and the girl is in 4th grade, meaning he's 9 or 10. When I played this as a 4th grader, I got so excited. In retrospect, the do look more like 6th or 7th graders, no?
if they would remaster Ctr and Ape Escape 3 my life would be complete
1 down and 1 to go.
I'll be here waiting with y'all
I don't think ape escape 3 needs a remaster
I find the fact that they switched weapons to the beat of the music very amusing
I know right? I was just about to comment that xD
I never get tired replaying this game. It's sooo fun!

I remember playing this game, the nostalgia is intense lmao.
Awesome, I look forward to seeing your progress. It's a great game to run =]
100 monkeys speed run with kei
It's one of those tricks that once you figure it out, it's really consistent.
I think I would probably agree that 1 has the best environments, but 3's is pretty nice as well. Some levels like Eversummer Island are just fantastic.
Irenember that when i was 9 years old how much i wanted to be a ninja just for do what he do on the ninja animation, man i finished this game so many times
This was fun game and I can’t stop playing this over and over i think they are coming with ape escape 4!!!
I MISS THIS GAME ~____~
A new trick was found recently that skips almost all of the final level, which saves over 4 minutes, so beating this time wouldn't be too hard. I've since beaten this time, but I haven't gotten around to getting a good run with that skip. I hope you have fun running this game, and good luck!
My childhood in a video

polkadotocean4000 same
I hope you did good on your final
2 years later and here I am doing the same thing lmao
So glad I grew up with this...
yeah... so glad
I miss playing that in my childhood daysss back then
Such heartwarming credits song :')
The original Ape Escape was way better than the second and the third one IMO, time travel setting was a lot more interesting than world travel or movies. I also found the levels to be more unique and wtf-like in the first one. But I guess this is because of nostalgia.
Also even though Kei is a main character in this game, the main character is Yumi since the setting is focused on TV
Nostalgic game.
Oh my god, first time hearing this game with American voices and it is freaky D:
Dude I honestly thought when I was in 2nd grade that those coins were really cheese nips and wanted to eat them lol
I thought they were cookies ahaha
Bennett Garfield Same xDD
13:42 ugh, that *elephant* bot was a jerkish boss, I was lucky to manipulate a bug that caused me to be on the fence and use the slingshot to attack safely at a distance without harm, go me!
tl;dr: it's a noobish thing, I know what your gonna say but don't worry posting about me being a noob!
*Nostalgia.* I remember when i was like 3-4yo i played this game everyday :D
From 1:00 to 2:00 this reminds me of windmill isle from Sonic Unleashed

Ah, alright. I will keep trying then! (As soon as i'm actually back home). You can probably expect the run between now and the end of summer.
Great run, it was really enjoyable to watch.
Ah man listening to the mount amazing music again is so good😭
How is the boys name kei? Mine is satoru, or can u name them i last played this 2yrs ago
I actually saw a lot more of your video now and you do use your morphs so good job bro
Like how you were playing the song by switching the weapons
me encanta como atrapa los monos, ahora los movimientos son más frescos y más reales que en el 1
It is awesome!
This video made me remember my childhood.
Just wish they would've kept the OST and level design types of the first game....
+justin2griffin what level design types ?

No one will answer, but: Shouldn't the girl be faster, since she "freezes" some monkeys with her presence?
Probably in normal levels but I think pink monkey is more aggressive since she sees you as a rival, guessing the time difference isn't worth it if there's a chance of losing a life and doing the boss again.
these are diff characters then 2 at begin monkeys make tv show that controls minds and the characters from 2 watched it
how many movie references where there lol so many
i had this game when i was 13 on the ps2 i still remeber the wierd noises they made when they jumped
I love how you press buttons along with the music. Nice run! I want to attempt to run this game too, I will tell you if I beat your time =P.
Pressing buttons along the music lmao

Best scenes 26:20 30:44 47:34 1:00:08 !
Used to love this game lol ❤ the memories
+Cendra With A C you can buy it on Amazon or ebay
The boy and girl have different names in different region versions. You're likely playing on PAL (Europe/Australia).
I miss this game.
I could never do this.
I love this game to death but I am not skilled at it.
I can see why people wouldn't run this. The random missing seems annoying.
Uno de los mejores juegos
es legendario
Interesting, I think I will look into that, thank you. It might be a little bit, i'm got two speedruns down I just have to actually record them right now.
You just swim faster when underwater. The only slight trick I do is ground pounding to instantly go underwater when I dive in instead of jumping in and diving.
I love how you named it Dabes😂
My god I miss this game.
Squid riggity=rekt this run xD
Also I finished the game 3 times in a row, I was so tired it was fricken 3am that time
First game I ever played
True
When do you start the timer for ape escape 3? I want to start running it. Is it when you pick character?
Oh nvm I found one your twitch streams :p
fuck when i was like 10 i got stuck on the cloud parts around 1h16min, i wish i knew how close i was to finishing the game so i wouldn't ragequit forever
Anyone else actually think monkey pink's song is better than yumi's?
Wait did Sega ripoff the second stage of this game when making sonic unleashed?
Is this the same Dabes that was on Classic Mixup?
I peeped that music at 1:20
The nostalgia
14:00 sweet a digimon.
+Joe Yabuki LOL I get it
I would have picked Yumi just for the sake of it being slightly easier :3
1:08:30 i didnt even know that was possible damn
Hey surreal I've been practicing this game and this gave me help, I would ove to race oh someday on SRL -BmanRulesYou21
tomuki? is the hero? SAY WHAT!??!?!?!??!?!?!?!?
Damn the Satoru voices in this version are awful.
Like the European dub is any better. :P

Just a shame that this is the only game that has a European dub and an american dub. All other games force us to have the terrible US one
Stfu
Juegas en PC o en Ps2?
0:1:23 lol
You didnt finish it. after the end credits you have to get the rest of the monkeys and kill specter again.
This is any%
REDFOXstudios and your talking about 100%! not any!
well future hero is one story, but the others is another...
+bombermanx0 gamma That still wouldn't be 100%, at least not in the game itself
To get 100% on your save file you have to do the time attacks etc.
Thanks! I love this game a lot too =]
Why does he say 'One more!' when there's actually like 8 more?
AndrewAdvanced5000 IKR, I think it was supposed to only play when 1 remains, but says "Just 1 more!" instead, for some odd reason, "1 more!" is one of his lines when he catches an ape and there's like more than 1.
AndrewAdvanced5000 Because he just caught one more... Like yes another.
+dirtbikerdann this
Yeah I get it what's your twitch name?
15:05 lol
9:29 you wasted time. In the left corner you can glitch over
This run was made in 2012, years before the various wall clip skips were found...
サトルを選ぶとは…

Why u pick the guy?!?

BGMにあわせてガチャメカかえるのよくやったわww
There's little difference between the boy and the girl. The boy is less annoying.
