  • Ear plugs were essential while standing next to the cement fence on Chuckwalla Valley Raceway’s front straight while our resident fast guy, Troy Siahaan, put down laps for our latest middleweight naked comparo (www.motorcycle.... With amateur and pro racers sharing the track on their purpose-built machines, the difference between the decibels varied from ear-shattering to Euro 5 compliant. Being able to switch between 25 dB of attenuation at the turn of a dial, to 17 dB which allowed for discussion with the folks at track direction made a world of difference - and had me sold on the idea behind the Loop Switch ear plugs.

I use them for shows, on stage and off. I’m a believer.
I’ve even had to use the Sleep buds alone for deployments, neither have let me down. Good to see more light is being shown on Loop!

So, all of the advantages these give you, don't apply to riding. Can't change setting while riding, can't change while wearing gloves, extra settings don't really matter, you'll just pick one. They're often too fiddly to change without removing from the ears.
I've had these kind of ear plugs for wood cutting, shooting, and work. This style just never works well. For most activities I prefer electronic earmuffs, they block sound, but have a mic on the outside and speaker on the inside, and let you hear what's going on but don't allow harmful sound pressure. While these aren't going to fit under your helmet, there are in ear electronics, they're just more expensive (but are coming down).
For riding, I just use a pair of $10 three flange ear plugs, and keep the case in my jacket. Any advantages these kinds of earpro offer are generally lost on riding. In my experience wearing earplugs has never caused a danger, i.e. I've never heard a problem before seeing it that earplugs would block. Motorcycles are loud, riding is loud. You can't hear shit.
I often hear people saying to get some cheap noise cancelling earbuds. Don't do this. In general they do not offer sufficient sound level protection. There are specialty made hearing pro with ANC and sound passthroughs, but again, they are expensive.

A joke at this price. Nowadays one can get functional ANC earbuds for this price. Infact any spare in-ear headphones will do. Or use foam noise reduction ear plugs of varying size and hardness. Or jerry rig silicone ear tips with said ear foam for a comfortable, secure, sealed-in fit. It would have cost the manufacturer peanuts to make this glorified silicone tip with plastic body. At 6 dollars, this would have been fine. This feels like those dumbed down, monochrome android smartphones in the market that lets the user to 'disconnect' from social media while costing the same. Gimmick at best.

For this kind of price I expected active electronic hearing protection, not a piece of dumb plastic...

Blah Blah Blah Blah, B roll footage left n right and NEVER SHOW putting them INTO your ear or any of that stuff! Terribad video. I learned nothing about this product and I will continue to use the good old orange cone shaped FOAM earplugs for my street and track use!!!
