- Cover of Duane Allman’s Little Martha (originally a dobro/guitar duet with Dicky Betts on the LP "Eat A Peach") which Jerry Douglas has brilliantly expanded and covered on a squareneck. I’ve tried to follow here the original shorter structure using the main sections of Jerry’s arrangement. Duane and Jerry are both in my book the all-time GOATs of their respective instruments, and just getting through this tune has been one of my milestone goals as I’m working on learning dobro.
Gear: I used a pair of Rode NT5's with no effects at all pre or post, and a Rode camera accessory mic (you can see it on the stool next to me) to which I added afterwards some reverb and stereo spread. The guitar is a National-made mahogany Scheerhorn with a Hipshot Double Shot tailpiece that allowed me to drop the tuning to open D for this one. The guitar has a Fishman Nashville pickup installed, but I didn't use it here - the recording is 100% acoustic. Duane's original is in open E with identical string intervals.
