Do you still have all the packing materials and box? I ask because i am interested in possibly taking this unit off your hands if you dont have to send it back. Would like to try to repair it. So if your grandma does not want it, please get in touch with me. Thanks
Also this unit may be just way too big for your room. Its short cycling because its too big, and the unit is cooling off too fast shutting off before it gets a chance to really dehumidify
I'm currently in the process of bringing this unit to the relatives house. i just need to take some measurements. but we do need a unit at the relative room. thanks for the offer.
the unit still seems to have a decent charge but it could be a pin hole near the rusted slot. the unit was also short cycling due to thermostat or thermal overload. thanks for you input.
i love the U shape in how this is shaped but it seems to have quality issues.

It’s a GE and it’s designed to fail
Sounds like it lost its charge somewhat, among other things. Send it back.
