Deligracy has done this already, but it was pretty short and I didn’t like the rooms to be honest. If Syd does this, I hope she does it better!

I grew up in the 70's. Your retro build reminded me of the house I grew up in. The only thing missing was floor to ceiling mirrors in the living room. It was garish, but in a good way.
Such a fun concept! My theory is that the modern side is a young house designer’s first place to themselves and the retro an older Sim who lived alone. They dislike each other because the younger sim works from home and has friends over and also criticizes the older sim for being stuck in the past. However, the younger sim learns that all of the older sim’s family has passed away and keeping their house old fashioned is how they keep their memories of them since they have begun to develop amnesia.

that is such a wholesome storyline :( and maybe the modern sim after realizes that the older sims family passed away, now she cooks the older sim dinner from time to time :') and in return the older sim either bakes them some cookies / sweets or makes them a crotchet item !

I’m torn between the two. I grew up in the 70’s so the retro side brings back happy memories and I’m living the modern with a home office.
Yay, a lunch break with Syd! I love the shapes and homey feel of the 70s rooms and the modern side seems so calm and clean. I can't choose! 😩💕

I can see myself living in both the retro and modern sides of the house. Both have their advantages. Modern has the pool and outdoor living space that I absolutely love, including the little outdoor kitchen area, perfect for having bbq’s during the summer. Modern also has an awesome office that would be perfect for getting work done or playing some games. The modern bathroom is amazing and I definitely would love that tub in real life too, lol. However I can see myself using the retro side for just about everything else, watching tv in the sunken living room, listening to music by the record player, that kitchen and dining room would be perfect for cooking and eating in. The retro side bedroom would be my go to for sleeping as well. Overall I’m split, but Team Retro definitely wins!
Also you’re a really talented builder. I enjoy every build you make. EA really should consider making you an EA Game changer.

My alternate interpretation of this is that the modern side belongs to a young designer and the retro side belongs to their grandpa. The designer moved in to care for the grandpa and his wife has passed. He tries to get him to renovate, at least to move past grief but grandpa keeps it retro to remind him of his wife

I never make RUclips comments but instead of a feud it would be so cute if it was like a family home where the parents decided to give half of the house to their child to start their own family so one side got remodeled to the style of the child where the parents kept their side homey and how it was when they first got the house or built it. Just my thoughts! Such a great build! I personally prefer the 70s style.

syd ! how about a dorm house for a band or a pop group ? I have been trying to build one but I think id love to see your take on it ! it could even have practice rooms, room for managers etc. you could also do a comparison of a starter dorm vs when they finally get famous and can afford a more upscale dorm house !

I love the "duplex" idea since I live in one. It is a house from 1960's hence this is so fun to watch. Even though in my country (Honduras 🇭🇳) the houses styles are very different from North America. I so enjoy your videos, Syd! ❤

Love this... what you call retro is in architectural terms called "Modern" which is a bit ironic =) and extra funny being you compared it to the modern look, which is actually called "Contemporary" in those same architectural terms =) (BTW, I adore putting sunken living areas in my builds, so fun!!!!)

I recently built a home for me and my sister where one side was a mountain cabin (my side, so obviously my favorite side here is the 70s) and the other was a modern ranch style home! It's seriously fun to mix the two and make such wildly different styles right next to each other.
Also it's no wonder these two house owners hate each other - ones an interior designer whose probably constantly badgering the 70s house about at least painting the walls or something! and that 70s house living room walls right up to the modern home's office lol
You should make like 2 houses on the same lot but they're connected houses so a hallway that connects the houses. Just an Idea btw :)

I would love to see a bloomcrest style challenge where you start on the smallest lot with a 2010s/2020s tiny house then move up a lot and back a decade until you’re making vintage mansions.
