1) Accept all things. 2) Deliver excellence now. 3) Never quit, you can win it in the late innings. I grew up hearing those three things. This is my grandpa. I remember going to the silver spoon with my mom, as long as I've been alive. Unfortunately, he passed earlier today, October 11, 2019. He was surrounded by those who love him and cherish him. I will miss him greatly, as will many, many people who he never got the chance to meet. Thanks, pops, for everything. We'll see you on the next bounce.
And I'll wager that he never gave a bad performance as a grandpa, either. Or anything else. He was the Best of the breed. And now he's got a bigger stage to be great on. Peace for your family.
He was a nice man. I met him one day while having lunch with my friend, actor Michael Gregory (SWAT commander in the original "Robocop" movie), at the Silver Spoon in 2007 or 2008 (can't remember which). Mike walked me over and introduced me to him. From his accent, I thought he was from Chicago (my home town), but he told me he was from Buffalo. He was a classic '60s/'70s man's man, old school. And, he was a fine actor. He will be missed.
My condolences to you and your family. I knew Robert a bit. He once did me a huge favor. Your grandfather, as you know, was a friend to everyone he met. I was blessed to run into him twice this past year. I'll always carry a little bit of his kindness with me wherever I go. God bless you, Robert.
I was a camera operator on a small movie called “Middle Men”. I had the honor of working with this kind, abundantly talented man. A absolute pleasure and a highlight of my career. Thank you, Robert.
I loved him in Jackie Brown. His cool charisma was part of what made the movie so interesting. Of course, he was great in Breaking Bad and El Camino. Sad that he’s gone now. RIP
How can anyone give a thumbs down to Robert Jeeze he was my mentor and friend he helped me I helped him as well. Robert lives in anyone that knew him well. Amen
I think the tendency for actors given a potentially career resurrecting role is to go "big" in their performance. Instead, his performance in Jackie Brown is so wonderfully subtle and understated.
Jackie Brown is Tarantino's best film to date, full stop. Good film's are built from the ground up; the writing and casting shouldering the most weight. Jackie Brown is an A+ because both are done to about as close to perfection as humanely possible. The fact that Robert Forster's performance stands out in such a sublimely casted film is an extraordinary achievement. He's perfect in Jackie Brown and he so deserved that opportunity to be wonderful.
He's so correct about having a good attitude. He could have been bitter about not getting the role in Resevoir Dogs and ignored Tarantino when he came in the restaurant but he was friendly, invited him over it eventually led to a role that revived his career.
Robert Forster was a GREAT man! One of my favorite memories is having brunch at the table right next to him RIGHT THERE AT THE SILVER SPOON! I was with actors Duane Whitaker (Maynard in Pulp Fiction), Joe Estevez (friend of Robert's) and Daniel Roebuck (LOST, Matlock, Getting Grace). We talked to him throughout our Brunch and it was a wonderful experience. I felt he should have won Best Supporting Actor for Jackie Brown (he was Nominated) and I asked him about being in a movie and he said, "You'll find that you can not only get me, but actors lining up to be in it." GREAT man. R.I.P. Robert. He passed just two months before my cousin, a fellow Oscar Nominee, Danny Aiello. May they both REST IN GOD'S ETERNAL PEACE.
He's such an intriguing actor. His delivery is so unembellished and undecorated. He just speaks with purpose, conviction, and humility and his characters are all the more believable for it.
This is what RUclips does best. I never met Robert Forster but I can hear him tell this story - and it's a great story. He would have been great at anything, and we are fortunate he was a screen actor.
I absolutely love this video ! The late great Mr Forster was PERFECTION in his role as Max Cherry and he got a well deserved boost to his career thanks to Mr Tarantino. Robert was underrated and underused by the industry. THANKS for sharing this heartwarming video with us !!
I knew him from ALLIGATOR first. Technically, THE BLACK HOLE, but I wasn't paying attention at the time. His passing came out of nowhere and hit me like a ton of bricks. I hadn't been that upset by a celebrity death personally like that since Leonard Nimoy, and *that* one hurt like fuck.
I'm sorry I am late to this video... Is what it is I guess, but all I can say is that I cried buckets when Mr Forster passed.... so sad, but what a guy, what an actor. If I could have met anyone in the limelight it would have been he. Genuinely he was a hero to me. I'm glad his bell rang twice. Thank you QT. See you in the next life, I hope. Captain Dan Holland - the real Han Solo.
He was amazing in the movie "The Delta Force" i have watched the movie a lot over the years and no matter how many times i watch that movie i cannot see him
He EXUDED such cooooool presence, with an amazing captivity that I will Always remember regarding HIS screen presence! I've also watched JACKIE BROWN so many times and HE was just a NATURAL for his part! MR.ROBERT❤FORSTER"🎁" "Forever Missed AND Felt* Impact!" SMILE💚*🙏🏼
Beautiful human being. Quinton moves a step closer to heaven every time he revives the career of a former star... god knows he'll need all the help he can get
He had some sort of unique quality that made his characters seem genuine. Whatever it was, it was rare. The look on his face with Lucy Liu in “Rise Blood Hunter” was priceless. He will be fondly remembered and missed. I think I will head over to Amazon and buy a few of his movies.
Not many people may believe this but I'm related to Robert Forster. He's my grandfather's cousin. The shame is my grandfather's dad has barely any contact left with his siblings so my grandpa saw him when he was young maybe only a few times. I just think it's sad I or the rest of my family barely ever got to meet him. Originally when I found this out I tried to see if my grandfather was mentioned on the internet but it was only really him and his parents. It sucks that he died even though my grandfather's side of the family was just separated, to begin with. All I know is that we are proud of him!
"Except for the next one." Very cool. Very uplifting. Wish I'd seen this a couple of weeks ago when a Classical venue asked me to take a Master Class. "Nah, I couldn't do that." Then I met a brilliant young pianist today who was got up and played the unused piano in the cafe. We got talking, and I ended up giving him a private little Master Class which he really appreciated, and I thought: 'Damn, I can do this. I should've said "Ok." to that earlier invite".
I loved this man, his craft. Can't believe he passed away. Its a crime his death was not reported across the news. Such a beautiful man and one of the greatest character actors who lived.
Robert Forster reminds me of the actor in once upon a time in Hollywood that was on his last swan song as many of those actors of the 50s and 60s were but credit QT for resuscitating him, Michael Parks and David Carradine in their final years. RIP Robert will miss your storytelling.
Even though I did not know his work, I always remembered his role in Jackie Brown. Despite the big-name actors in the cast - DeNiro, Samuel L Jackson, Michael Keaton - Robert Forster’s portrayal of the bail bondsman was memorable. While Keaton and Jackson played their character’s larger-than-life, Forster’s was relaxed, caring, confident without being cocky. His portrayal was sublime and “cool.”
Robert should have got an OSCAR for Jackie Brown he was brilliant . The Film was brilliant , the cast were brilliant , but the memory is Robert . Belated RIP Robert Forster .
RIP...Will be truly missed. A rarity in Hollywood, a man you clearly would have wanted to have a beer with. Mr. Forster sounds as if he is from the Midwest, but was a ROCHESTER, NEW YORK native!!!!
R.I.P, Robert. One of his last films was a faith based film called "The Case For Christ" as Lee Strobel's father. I have "Medium Cool" on Criterion Blu-ray. A young actress named Janet Langhart was also in the film. In the mid 70s she was on a Boston based morning show called "Good Day". My brother used to drive her around. There were a lot of young actors who started out in Boston. Jobeth (Poltergeist) Williams, Robert (Christine) Proskey and Tucker (Contact) Smallwood all appeared on a children's show called "Jabberwocky".

He was the Best of the breed. And now he's got a bigger stage to be great on.

I always respected this man's acting chops. I always thought he should be a headliner with his skills. Very sorry to hear he just passed away.
He was a nice man. I'm envious of you, but will try and check out Middle Men. :)
Middle Men was a good movie 👍
Thank you for you hard work Sir.
This put tears in my eyes. RIP Bob.
Ditto.
Me too, I worshipped that man. Captain Dan Holland. The real Han Solo. Take it easy.
Love his 3 step plan. Beautiful man.
I loved him in Jackie Brown. His cool charisma was part of what made the movie so interesting. Of course, he was great in Breaking Bad and El Camino. Sad that he’s gone now. RIP
u got good taste in movies and music
He wasn't in much of Breaking Bad and El Camino

I think the tendency for actors given a potentially career resurrecting role is to go "big" in their performance. Instead, his performance in Jackie Brown is so wonderfully subtle and understated.
What a perceptive comment ! THANK YOU for sharing !!
1) Deliver excellence now. 2) Accept what comes 3) Never quit, you can win in the late innings.
Close, you got 2 & 3 transposed.

It's the best because all the great actors in it were in their prime I believe. No ego's yet.
He was a true class act. He will be missed. RIP Robert Forster.
This guy was fantastic. How in the world was this guy not able to find work? I commend Tarantino, but how could nobody else see this guy’s brilliance?
He's so correct about having a good attitude. He could have been bitter about not getting the role in Resevoir Dogs and ignored Tarantino when he came in the restaurant but he was friendly, invited him over it eventually led to a role that revived his career.
CGH excellent observation!! Very good point
Perfect attitude for an actor. If you have a bad attitude, thin skin or a short fuse, auditioning is NOT going to be something you can deal with...
Any idea which character it was?
@@londontrada Joe Cabot (Lawrence Tierney's role)

R.I.P. Robert Forster. ❤🌹😢
Aww what the hell! He was just in El Camino, I didn't know he passed. Barely anyone has talked about it. That sucks.

He is also a member of the Triple Nine Society, which means he has a genius I.Q. of at least 150.
Wow!

Didn't know that

I didn't know you liked the Delphonics. (Max Cherry) Yep!
theyre pretty good...
Both Robert Forster and Pam Greer were outstanding in “Jackie Brown.”
Mr. Forster, RIP.
He was a modern kind of actor and yet there was something "classic" or maybe "old fashioned" about him.
The greatest voice ever heard.
I love his voice.
Sam Elliott's voice is the greatest I've ever heard no offense Mr. Forster close second.......
Western New York
He was no Percy Helton but yes indeed he had a WONDERFUL voice !!
He's such an intriguing actor. His delivery is so unembellished and undecorated. He just speaks with purpose, conviction, and humility and his characters are all the more believable for it.

Great actor and man's man. The world is a sadder place without him.
Robert Forster 1941-2019. Unfortunate that the headlines say he's in Jackie Brown. I know him for the lead in Medium Cool!

Good morning Strombo! Great post. Now a moment like this is all-the-more special in light of Mr. Forester's passing earlier this month. Classy guy.
This man proved that sometimes the best actor doesn't get all the parts that he would have made great.
A class act to the very end, gone but not forgotten.
Amazing role and performance. Deserved the oscar
May He Be Most Happiest In Paradise! ❤🌹
