Frank Miller once said: "He's clearly a man with a mission, but it's not one of vengeance. Bruce is not after personal revenge. He's much bigger than that; he's much more noble than that. He wants the world to be a better place, where a young Bruce Wayne would not be a victim. In a way, he's out to make himself unnecessary. Batman is a hero who wishes he didn't have to exist."
What story are you referring? I’m not really familiar with Miller, but I think he wrote “The Dark Knight Returns” in the late 80’s, right? Is that the story you’re talking about?
I think I understand what Matt Reeves is doing with his potential trilogy of movies. Taking the famous quote from the legendary Kevin Conroy (R.I.P), he starts off as "Vengeance". The second movie, I believe will build him up as the "Knight", instead of the night (since he's almost fully assimilated the dark already) as well as playing off the quote itself. Finally, he becomes a more complete Batman, implementing the mask of Bruce Wayne into his cowl and becoming the legend he is and will remain
@@alejandromelendez1609Bruce Wayne is absolutely a mask buddy. And if you know anything about Batman then you know that Batman is who he’s actually been since that night in Crime Alley when he was 8 years old. He just uses Bruce Wayne for what Bruce can do for Gotham with his wealth and resources. But he gave up trying to actually live as Bruce Wayne long ago. And this is why Alfred gets upset and pleads with him to actually try to have a life as Bruce. But Alfred knows he gave up being Bruce long ago. This is what separates him from other superheroes. In an episode of Superman the animated series Clark told his parents that he loves being Clark and that he would go crazy if he had to be Superman all the time. Superman is his job and it’s what he feels is necessary to help change the world because he can. Whereas Batman is all that is left of Bruce Wayne. The man spends all his time as Batman down in that cave. He only becomes Bruce Wayne when necessary to be seen in public or run Wayne Enterprises and throw people off his trail that he is Batman. Other than that he has no use for Bruce Wayne. And that was stated at the end of Batman Begins when Rachael says……”No THIS is your mask”……The real you is the one that criminals now fear”.As she touches Bruce’s face. That scene perfectly sums up the difference from Batman and other superheroes. All that matters to Bruce Wayne is what Batman has to do for Gotham City. Nothing else
Yes in my opinion he's very much the best live action Batman. Not only does he understand the source very well, he embodies it too & is truly giving his all.
Idk I watched it once and never wanted to watch it again. Movie wasn't bad or anything just didn't click with this Batman. He didn't feel like Batman at all lol
I’ll be real happy in the second film if he says “I am the night”, and in the third film he says “I am Batman”. It would show just how much that he grows in these films while also completing the iconic line we all know and love.
How do we feel about videos w/ background tracks VS without. I kind of think they feel more professional. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts down below.
This Batman just feels the closest to the books. The persona isn’t the same, this Batman is much more on a hair trigger, angrier and less composed, but that parts that make The Batman are all there and intact. Bale didn’t capture that foreboding rage, that’s why I think he had to put on that voice. He never had that hair trigger to insanity that Keaton and Pattinson captured. Pattinson beats out Keaton because Keaton didn’t capture the other side of Batman, his compassion. Pattinsons Batman feels like the Batman that would sit next to Ace on the swing.
real talk, I'm someone who doesn't even care that much about Batman. I went to see this movie bc I heard it was a standalone, no cinematic multiverse callback tie-in homework to watch before hand and I was in AWE the entire time. I loved the grungy gothic atmosphere that reminded me a lot of the SAW movies, I loved the ferocious score AND the repeated theme of the Nirvana song, I loved Catwoman's existence. But most of all I loved Pattinson's light-shunning, vampiric Bruce and downright spooky Batman. He nailed the role of a man who thinks he has to save the day alone, letting it get far too personal - but realizes that he can effect more good in Gotham if he instead protects and helps people who can do more, little by little in their jobs or daily lives than one broken rich kid with a death wish. Him in full scary bat-gear reassuring that terrified injured woman before handing her off to the paramedics - the professionals! - was what sealed it for me.
The Detective aspect was the best part of this portrayal and Matt Reeves crime noir elements, cant wait for the Batman Part 2. Agreed that the Aesthetic of the suit is awesome, "practical and purposeful" Great Content as always V ! 🦇
Detective! Ha! The Detective part of this film consists of Rocket-Powered Chevrolet barrelling down the streets at Supersonic speed chasing a terrified 'villain' in an out-dated model of the car he's driving...get his car flipped by some gadget of BATMAN'S and then desperately trying to crawl to safety out of the wreckage of his car away from a lunatic in an armoured Bat-suit that looks so hi-tech he could take on the military with it. Then BATMAN assaulting this man without asking questions first...he grabs him and smashes him against the wall and 'roughs him up' then asks questions. The criminal turns out to be Penguin who recently went legitimate and became a legal business owner. Yet BATMAN isn't happy with this and proceeds to 'interrogate' him some more threatening to hurt him in the process.
@@dancooke8811 One of the worst criticisms I've seen of the film is that Batman is a bad detective and doesn't solve anything, which is not true. He solves the first riddle: "He Lies Still." Decodes the cypher: "Drive" Go to the Mayor's garage and find the drive with the pictures that takes him to the Iceberg Lounge. There he interrogates Penguin and notices that Selina wears the same boots as the girl in the photo. He follows Selina and find out who the girl in the photo is: Anika. Find the letter hidden in the maze that Riddler left with Commissioner Savage. With the help of Selina at the Iceberg Lounge, he discovers what the rat in the previous letter means, the informant in the Maroni case. People make fun of his Spanish, but he successfully translates "Rata Alada" into Rat with Wings, his mistake in fact being ignoring the "El" which is a common mistake with the language he correctly predicts that riddler would show up to the funeral as serial killers like following their crimes He correctly answers Riddler's riddles for DA Coulson. When he interrogates Penguin after the chase he realizes his mistake and correctly deduces: You Are El=URL and finds Riddler's website where he solves the riddle of the orphan and the orphanage. At the orphanage he realizes that he is the next victim, unfortunately too late at that moment Alfred is injured and hospitalized. Hearing Anika's call he puts the pieces together and discovers that Carmine is the Rata Alada: "A falcon has wings too." i know for a fact i missed out some parts of his detective work too, name one other batman movie that did as much investigating/detective work more then this one
@@nalday2534 read a comic and you will know why, Bruce isnt supposed to act like an angsty 14 year old going through an emo phase otherwise the whole secret identity thing has no point. Its like Clark Kent pretending to be a body builder. The fact that absolutely no one in reeves universe knows he is Batman is either a mirale or he is just extremely lucky.
@@nalday2534 like in The Batman year one movie and comic one of the first things the Police concluded is that Batman needs a lot of resources for his arsenal and cant be a low life, and somehow after two years the GCPD cant connect that maybe, just maybe, 30 year old edge lord billionaire Bruce Wayne might be Batman or must be founding him at least.
To me he is. It's literally all there, all the aspects of his comic book counterpart. All the complains or nitpicks that one could possibly make are easily answered due to the fact that he is a new Batman, one who doesn't even know how to be Bruce Wayne yet; an aspect that will be explored in the future as he evolves. He doesn't kill, he makes it clear ( I love Affleck, but thank god.) He's the Detective, we've hardly seen that before. Though some may argue that he was slow or dumb in solving the crimes, Joker answers why that is as well in his deleted scene. Another argument that comes up is his body shape, Batman has been drawn a thousand times, bulky or as an MMA fighter, I assure you that he has been drawn this way so many times, we've seen it. For a Year Two Batman in a more grounded reality, he is extremely accurate. Also, just look at that chin.
You pretty much nailed the very nuances that Matt Reeves was going for in this version of the character, and the fact that all the mistakes he made in the film are very *deliberate* . Reeves mentioned very early on that in past Batman films, the villain always takes the spotlight away from him (see Heath Ledger as Joker in TDK, for which he won an Oscar), and he's right. Reeves is setting out to make Batman the main focus of his films by showing Bruce's evolution to *becoming* the hero that Gotham knows him to be. And as it was depicted in the first film, he *will* make mistakes and have to learn lessons along the way. This film isn't for those with short attention spans who just expect there to be fight scenes, car chases and explosions every five minutes, with Batman doing minimal detective work along the way to predictably saving the day at the end. Reeves' Batman has to earn his stripes by doing the work. He doesn't classically win by the end, because his wins come from learning how to be better within himself. That way, he can *do* better for Gotham.
The Batman is definitely my favorite movie of 2022 I saw this movie twice in theatres and I've watched it many more times with my Blu-ray copy, Robert Pattinson is quickly becoming my favorite live action Batman it's still neck and neck between Battinson and Batfleck for me personally and I can't wait to see what else he brings to the character in The Batman Part 2 , 2025 can't get here quick enough lol
Jim Gordon and Batman in this movie was 🔥. For strangers they were in sync. Batman and Catwoman was also great, their chemistry was very well exposed throughout their scenes, my only issue was his relationship with Alfred and his persona as Bruce but then again it’s all justified too him being green, naive and still young. I’m excited to see his progression in the Batman 2, if robin were to appear in the 2nd film I’d love to see character development in Batman develop through becoming an instant dad and learning a whole new level of responsibility with Dick.
Idk the romance seemed forced cause it's a historic relationship in comics. It didn't feel genuine, though maybe I just got put off by the stalking scene
@@jacobfilasky2729 Keaton was leaning into the playboy Bruce Wayne, which was definitely another aspect of Bruce also coping with loss poorly for the public to latch onto.
Menacing🤣🤣🤣he's a brooding bitch. The oy reason he was a badass is so theovie could progress. I doubt Partinson has has eaten any red meat testosterone boosting protein in years as his body is soyboy Twink. No. He would be a prison bitch.
I definitely think that he is the best live action Batman. Michael Keaton, while very enjoyable, I never thought he was amazing as Batman and that's coming from someone who grew up with him. I mean even in his movies he is not really the most interesting character but that's really more of a writing problem. Ben Affleck had a lot of potential to be the best but unfortunately his Batman was surrounded by terrible writing. For Bale while I thought he played Bruce Wayne really good I honestly don't even like his Batman and I also really do not like any of the Batsuits he wore. I think a big part of the problem is built into Christopher Nolan's understanding of this version of Batman is that he doesn't want to be Batman, he wants to end. I mean it's built into the premise The Dark Knight even, and so this leads you a lot of problems because the concept of a Batman who doesn't want to be Batman is extremely antithetical to the source this has never been a recurring thing in the comics that Batman doesn't want to be Batman, that he's looking for reasons to retire. This unfortunately solidified that version of Batman as just a Nolan character and not really an adaptation of the comic book character of Batman. However nothing will ever top Kevin Conroy or Mask of the Pantasm. I know a lot of people have said that Pattinson's Bruce Wayne wasn't developed properly but I really think that, for the first film, that was intentional. At the start of the film the Batman persona is all he has and he has yet to understand that he needs to be more than just vengeful Batman. That's his entire character arc in this movie and I believe him developing his Bruce Wayne persona will be crucial in the future or at least I hope.
I think Pattinson stated that he based his performance on Mask of the Phantasm; and come to think of it, there are many parallels between Paul Dano's Riddler and the titular Phantasm.
That’s why the dark knight trilogy is overrated to me. It’s about a Batman who doesn’t wnna be Batman and that is totally against who the character is. Idk why ppl overrate Keaton. His Batman is uninteresting and feels more like a burton character
I don't get the people who didn't understand the Riddler's motives when his goons started to shoot everyone at the Gotham square garden. They accuse it to be incoherent and not in line with Edward's goals, but it seems that people often forget that all of them were left aside from the society and were only after excuses to inflict pain over everyone. What i like the most about this movie, is that Batman was always the main character; either with or without the cowl.
BATMAN 89 was the perfect one because IT WAS BATMAN! It have BATMAN...the whole thing drew you in to BATMAN'S world! You felt that Darkness, you partially became BATMAN...but not totally...you weren't taken THAT FAR INTO THE ABYSS NOT YET! The part that wasn't was on the edge and was hanging by a thread that part was experiencing exactly what Bruce Wayne was feeling!
Hey Vee Infuso, if you loved The Batman overall like I do, I suggest reading Batman:The Imposter. It gives VERY similar vibes as the author actually helped with the film itself
i think The batman had the most style, the best character depiction and the best score. It's so interesting to see how damaged he is and how he didn't just valiantly bounce back and face his fears. I don't think the plot itself was amazing. But i think it has perfectly set up the rest of the movies in this series and I wonder if we'll see his mental state heal or deteriorate in the sequels. one thing i do know. He wouldn't be able to handle the joker in his current broken state. there's just too much to exploit
I love that Batman can be so many different things to so many people. You can have the Adam West show, where it's campy, goofy, but so much fun, and it became the definitive Batman for the people of that generation. You have the Burton films that had a blend of slight camp mixed in with darker, more gothic tones. It shaped what the character could be to a new generation of people. Nolan came along and made it grounded in reality and forever changed how some viewed comic book movies. It won people over who didn't ever get into superheroes before. Then Affleck and the Snyderverse was the first time we saw him go toe to toe with Superman, aliens and world ending stakes on the big screen. It was the first cinematic Batman that was part of a larger comic book universe. Now this film, which is my favorite of the live-action films, and it felt like it was the one I'd personally been waiting to see for years (while still loving most of the prior adaptations). It's awesome that you can have so many different versions of the character, yet they all somehow feel true to him, and each one is someone's favorite.
I agree, it really is awesome that all these Batman films throughout the decades all excelled and lacked in different aspects, each movie consisted of Batman, but despite that we all got different variations depending on each adaption. My personal favorite: are the 2 Keaton films, I loved the dark, gothic, and somewhat sinister atmosphere those movies held, and despite that, they still managed to incorporate some of the unrealistic, cartoony, and outlandish things from the comics. I always appreciate a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
What most people don’t understand is that he wasn’t Batman until the last 5 minutes of the movie. He was proto-Batman/Vengeance the whole movie. This entire film was him finally figuring out what Batman means. I thought that was the best thing the movie did. It’s subtle but really powerful story telling.
Best live action Batman hands down. This movie is the only one that actively explains the no kill rule in a way that makes sense. Hell Batman Begins couldn’t do that, in fact it used a loophole so he could kill.
He’s easily the best Batman, with all due respect to the originator of modern, dark on screen and pop culture Batman in Michael Keaton. Rob’s admitted his favorite was Keaton and it’s obvious in the performance. He takes what he did and takes it to another level, especially with the eye acting … he is simultaneously the most accurate written, but also most realistic, which antiquated Christian Bale’s off the rip and then Robert gave the best acting performance on top of it. In one film he was on screen for 129 minutes that’s double the amount of Michael Keaton in two films, 20 minutes away from Christian Bale in three 2 1/2 hour films, and 30 minutes away from Ben Affleck in two over three hour nonsensical self indulgent meandering ensemble films … Rob carries the screen time and narrative weight in the film because it’s the first movie in the franchise actually about the title character and a character study. He’s the perfect Batman both in looks and performance. Strongest jaw in the franchise and looks the best in the mask and best realistic adapted black and grey Batsuit. He is 6 foot 2 like the character, he is built like an MMA fighter like the character. He has this perfect mix of shaman like mysticism and quirky weirdness that the character would certainly look like in real life with people, especially at crime scenes with police officers who are either scared, or appalled by him, which in real life would be most believable. Robert was in the suit for 73% of his film, whereas Ben was in the suit for 39% of his films and Christian was 33% and Michael was 25%. This is fact. So his entire acting performance is conveyed by his eyes and mouth expressions. Absurdly well done. It is a fantastic piece of acting. And for the haters that didn’t understand … it was a literal plot point that he hasn’t developed his public façade Bruce Wayne yet, as pointed out by mayor Bella Reale which clearly they’re going to evolve, he still had a difference in his performance from his Bruce and his Batman, his Bruce is slouched, unsure of himself, and doesn’t like to make eye contact. His Batman, his true self, walks upright, shoulders abroad, with a confident Swaggy strut or at crime scenes a literal glide as he’s intelligently analyzing everything like a Spectre and when he’s Batman, he doesn’t just make eye contact, he stares daggers into people to the point of making them uncomfortable. Look how he looks at Ramirez when walking onto the first crime scene in the opening of the movie, even though he’s a cop and the dude touches his chest, he looks like he’s ready to beat the shit out of him. Also, for the critics that call him emo, which is stupid because they’re doing that based on unkempt hair and that they show him wearing his war paint eye makeup, which is meant to show he has no vanity and is exclusively obsessed with crime fighting all day. It’s not emo, emo means emotional. Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne is deliberately cut off and cold emotionally that’s the point. It’s grunge, that’s why he looks like a grunge rockstar when he’s Bruce Wayne, and why they play Nirvana Something In the Way. Kurt Cobain was addicted to drugs, grunge Bruce Wayne is addicted to fighting crime. He is the most proactive version of the character we’ve ever seen on screen. Constantly fighting whether in the costume or in his drifter disguise. And his Bruce Wayne is an excellent variation on Michael Keaton Bruce Wayne, which are both more interesting concepts, where the character is a Citizen Kane recluse, not seen by the public. The Christian Bale iteration is three-dimensional (the character is two dimensional and flawed in the source), Bruce Wayne dies when his parents die. He is Batman from that point on the only time it changes is when he develops his fake public façade philanthropic or playboy image for the public and unlike Christian Bale’s take which admittedly he’s best and most entertaining when he’s douche bag public Bruce Wayne, that’s inaccurate as well. Bruce Wayne in the comics is a good looking pretty boy who is an airhead and affable, he’s not an asshole. That’s more like Tony Stark, that’s why I don’t mind iterations where he’s not out in public all the time acting like a Playboy, I don’t even think it fits the psychological profile of the character in reality. He would want to be seen as less as possible. Christian Bale’s iteration feels wrong. He’s too sane and compartmentalized. The character is likable because he’s dark and flawed and a human being. He has dark impulses, but he’s altruistic. Christian Bale’s iteration felt too clean and felt like James Bond with an overly theatrical, try too hard Batman disguise and that’s why it feels unnatural compared to Michael Keaton and Robert Pattinson, who just WERE Batman. He’s not a theatrical disguise. That’s who they are. Pattinson is THE Batman. So if you know the character and the source material and you know quality acting, you would already know Robert Pattinson is the best. Some people are ahead of the curve, like myself already crowning him, but if he gives one more performance on this level, with this level of screen time and narrative carrying burden, and adds even new dimensions in the sequel, which they said he will … this won’t even be a debate anymore. There’s been some transcendent actors with likable takes and performances like Keaton in 89 who developed all of this, and Christian Bale in Batman Begins, but everything after that, the character has been sometimes an afterthought in his own movies and predominantly in ensemble films, where the plot and the story or the director is the star of the show. Robert is the star of this franchise and we are actually focused on the character where for the first time, he’s the most interesting and the most frightening guy in his own film and for the first time the director and the screenplay are most interested in Batman. And even his scenes as Bruce Wayne, he has the best acted scene from a Bruce Wayne on screen ever. When Alfred is in the hospital and prior to that being a cold dickhead to him, Bruce Wayne has to reluctantly admit that he loves Alfred and doesn’t want to lose him and the reason he has this cold façade is because he’s ultimately afraid of losing anybody else who means something to him like what happened to his parents. Robert has the menacing eye acting and intimidating aura of Keaton. He’s got the intensity of Christian Bale. His fight scenes have the brutality of Ben Affleck in BvS. And he adds a layer of ethos never seen before. The look he gives the boy who just lost his parents to start the film, echoes his origin and tells us all we need to know without needing to see it again for the 15th time. The character being a do-it-yourself intelligent cerebral guy and naturally gifted observant detective also improves it and is more accurate to the source material than making him James Bond in a Dracula suit with Q … I mean Lucius Fox. Anybody who acts like Robert Pattinson sucked doesn’t know what they are talking about. He’s the goat. He gave by far the best performance ever as the character. Rob is THE Batman.
I commented this on another video I saw. I dont normally like batman for many reasons. I ended up going with a group and I must say this batman I liked alot more. The trauma and his dark personality feels far more authentic and I appreciate it felt more detective like.
Exactly how a real life Batman would be. The dichotomy of the 2 personas is iconic, but in real life, anyone this dedicated, wouldn't be attending parties and charity events. He's be....this guy. Like in Daredevil 2003 "I'm not the bad guy kid. I'm not the bad guy."
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO ❤️🔥🔥🔥 People forget this is a Year One Batman he is still learning and perfecting his craft. He’s not 40 year old Bruce Wayne Playboy yet.
I hope they make this Batman a franchise stretching over 20-30 years, releasing a movie every 4 years or so, with they story advancing at the same rate as real time. No need for a 24 situation where Jack Bauer was about 150 years old by the end, or what you normally see where a trilogy span 10 years in real time, but only cover a couple in story.
I don’t love or hate the portrayal of Battersons turn as the dark knight, it’s just doesn’t emulate the best Batman from the comics, the one many of us see in Kevin Conroys portrayal in the Arkham franchise.
To me, this is by far the best Batman movie ever made. And it's not even close, in my opinion. It's everything I've ever wanted in a Batman film. And it's the first time I felt like I was watching the Batman from the comics on screen. I'm BEYOND excited for the sequel!!
A batman story is at its best when batman learned a lesson. This movie exemplifies that notion as batman in the end learns that the people of Gotham need hope as well as fear to create justice.
Robert Pattinson is the best Batman because his Batman actually develops as a character in Batman movies it's always Bruce Wayne that gets the character development The Batman was the first to fully focus on Batman which is why it's the best I also like the fact that Rob's Batman is the most tortured it's very Shakespearean another good part about this film is that Batman has flaws he feels human he makes mistakes in my opinion The Batman is the best adaptation of Batman since Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham Series it's so good and it's a shame Kevin Conroy never watched it I think he would've loved it
Standing slow clap, thought I was the only one who felt this way,Pattinson is playing 2 personas, with or without the mask he's Batman,he's antisocial, actually does detective work and rearly let's his guard down, even with Selina
I've always thought Batman and Catwoman's relationship works is because they have so much in common. Both dark hunters with tragic pasts. So used to being alone that when they meet theyre both shocked and turned on by the idea that there's someone like them lol
1. Those "wrist bands" are gauntlets that store throwing darts on the top. 2. "I am vengeance. I am the night. And THAT was Vee Infuso. Just remember: if you're not tuning in, then you're missing out. Catch him next time; same bat time, same bat channel." 3. Again: Robert Pattinson vs Kevin Conroy.
I remember when everyone was speculating about who they'd cast as batman in this and I never would have even thought of Robert bus as soon as I heard he was cast I was like yeah that actually fits, same with when they cast Gordon
Best is always subjective. Adam West may be the best, he was the Batman of his time to perfection. Keaton will always be amazing. Bale and Affleck are what they were supposed to be for what it's worth. Patterson however has become my favorite personally. It's a shame how many people I know that refuse to watch his movie just because Twilight exists. Hope to see him have another turn.
Robert Pattison is the Best Batman after Kevin Conroy and Micheal Keaton as The Man is the Mask,Looks Amazing with the Tactical Armor in the Suit, the Stoic Personality and be more of a Detective hits the Nail Perfectly, and had the Best Chance to Grow Into a Better Person and Symbol of Hope fixing the Mistakes of the Past and the Misguided Inspiration he Created.
So Keaton Bale Batfleck and Battinson are all great portrayals of the Bat in their own right But with that said I would agree this is definitely one of the best portrayals of the Bat
I REALLY liked Andy Serkis as Alfred. And I know there wasn't a ton of it, But I really liked the chemistry between Robert P. & Andy S. I would love to see more of it...
I've come to appreciate the videos with no music,...as it feels like an honest straightforward conversation with a homie talking some nerd shit,...but i actually enjoy the music too,...also,...where did you get this song?,...the Cobain/grunge vibes are strong with this one
You bring up his heart and compassion and I feel that is what this movie needed more of. Not “cool” Bruce but just a Bruce with a little more heart. You brought up Alfred and that is the perfect example. While we fans say Batman is the true face and Bruce is the mask- Alfred would say he knows very little of Bruce but Batman is how a good man copes with loss in this situation. But he feels Bruce is bigger than the Bat as a person… So just having Bruce cold and indifferent to Alfred just hurt that small bit of likability Bruce needs to have. Bruce having a good heart and their relationship is the only reason Alfred goes along with the Batman stuff. The sequel needs to develop this a bit more.
He's great when he's allowed to be the Detective, trying his best to be terrifying to the Gotham citizens, and of course, at the end, when he truly understands what a "superhero" is. The problems come with him as Bruce. I can get him being anti-social and slightly awkward when around Alfred, cause he trust him and can let his guard down, but out in public? Much like as The Dark Knight, "Bruce" itself should be a mask when out and about, trying to be the playboy the media wants to make him out to be, hamming it up slightly... he should have natural charisma and charm. I get he hasn't built relationships with Gotham up just yet in this world, but it's a little too much "depression" for my tastes. And to clarify: I don't think seeming him depressed and alone is a bad thing. If anything, it showshow vulnerable he is, something The Lego Batman Movie also captured very well. But do you see how that doesn't work for his public persona? I get it, he didn't ask to be rich or for his parents to have been killed the way they were, but the fact his vulnerability was on display with the public just doesn't work for Bats IMO, even a young Bats.
people say that this batman isn't a good detective. that's just it. he is a good detective. the point is that just being a good detective isn't good enough to go toe to toe with the riddler. batman needed to step his game up to deal with a threat like that. he didn't need to be good or even great. he needed to be the best to stop him. we saw him becoming more analytical and observant when dealing with riddler. he had to figure out that when dealing with nygma, you gotta go deeper.
my only real problem with The Batman is I feel as if we have been down this road before with the Nolan films; realistic portrayal, sober, grounded feel, a youthful batman prone to mistakes... Granted this is only the first film, and if Reeves develops this character arc towards a Batman closer to the comics in a fantastical sense then im all for it... just once Id like to see a Detective Batman that crashed through a skylight, drops some smoke bombs; throws some batarangs into some goos gun hand and backflips another dude in the face all while Clayface is trying to steal some diamonds for god knows what reason lol... with a seamless looking catsuit that can close the cape all the way around himself!!
He is the best overall batman. but the best thing abou this batman is how realistic it is. He has a suit that looks like it can be made yourself. And he is the most scary.
This is definitely a different take on Batman but I love it. I was worried cause last I saw him was the twilight films and I was scared he would suck but he surprised me. He is good at being both characters. Damaged Bruce and strong and detective Batman. Can’t wait to see the sequel.
I already think he is the best Batman in all the ways we can define a good live action Batman. But I can understand people thinking he's not as good as Bale because he didn't really have to balance Batman and Bruce. However, we will most likely see him do that in the next fiilm and that was why this first film worked so well. Batman was fundamentally flawed because he only focused on the spirit of vengeance embodied by Batman. That not only seems like something an early Batman would do, but gives him an actual flaw to grow from. And we see that at the end when he realizes that he needs to inspire and help people just as much as he needs to instill fear at night. That's a very unique way to portray the character and I absolutely loved it. I like a Batman that has lessons to learn about himself like this
My favourite part of this movie was when Alfred tells Bruce he's on the verge of bankrupting Wayne Enterprises. I don't think I've ever heard that in another Batman story, his finances are rarely mentioned. Mostly we're just supposed to believe that WE is an infinite well of money for Bruce to use however he pleases, so hearing that he's using so much money that he's in danger of running out was a really cool detail.
you do realize that he was going bankrupt in the dark knight rises right he was a shell of himself after Rachel died and he had to start doing business again or did you just not watch that one
People still argue with me that Batman Begins is the best movie about Batman. Hands down, for me, The Batman gave me everything I've loved about the source character. The detective, the person struggling to decide how to be hero and man, the symbol. It was all *chefs kiss* for me
The issue I had with The Bat was the Library scene as a whole with the Selena will they won't they kiss scene was ruined cause he grapples her before the sound cue for the villain to appear which was his excuse for the "romantic" grab and he literally just got done stalking the woman after undressing. Also the Batcycle scene was bad cause it's a loud ass noise maker and he somehow sneaks it around in the middle of the night? Nah. Also the hostage scene at the end, the explosions where he enters the building imply he wasted about an hour setting up the bombs in a gimmicky way for spectacle which kinda makes the agency disappear.
my only issue with the film was the constant use of the batcycle. we only get one real scene with the batmobile and in this version he seem to favor the cycle more
His ability to act with his eyes alone makes him stand out more than the others

Frank Miller once said: "He's clearly a man with a mission, but it's not one of vengeance. Bruce is not after personal revenge. He's much bigger than that; he's much more noble than that. He wants the world to be a better place, where a young Bruce Wayne would not be a victim. In a way, he's out to make himself unnecessary. Batman is a hero who wishes he didn't have to exist."
Man thats such a great quote....its a shame that Frank Miller also went on to make the worst batman story ever

Bruce Wayne is not a mask, brother. That was the point of this movie.

I see what you mean but I feel like Ben Affleck captured the rage even better. But only when it comes to fight scenes.
real talk, I'm someone who doesn't even care that much about Batman.

That's detective work in Matt Reeves' interpretation😂😂😂😂
@@dancooke8811 One of the worst criticisms I've seen of the film is that Batman is a bad detective and doesn't solve anything, which is not true.
He solves the first riddle: "He Lies Still."
Decodes the cypher: "Drive"

There he interrogates Penguin and notices that Selina wears the same boots as the girl in the photo. He follows Selina and find out who the girl in the photo is: Anika.
Find the letter hidden in the maze that Riddler left with Commissioner Savage.
With the help of Selina at the Iceberg Lounge, he discovers what the rat in the previous letter means, the informant in the Maroni case.
People make fun of his Spanish, but he successfully translates "Rata Alada" into Rat with Wings, his mistake in fact being ignoring the "El" which is a common mistake with the language
he correctly predicts that riddler would show up to the funeral as serial killers like following their crimes
He correctly answers Riddler's riddles for DA Coulson.
Hearing Anika's call he puts the pieces together and discovers that Carmine is the Rata Alada: "A falcon has wings too."

@@javierlopez9789 i shouldn't need to read a comic to enjoy a movie you boring ass nerd. if you can't answer the question, stfu and keep moving

There's a huge character arc starting in this film - his Bruce Wayne persona will be developed over the coming films.
Every time there’s a new performance people shit on the pass actor. When somebody surpasses Robert Patterson the cycle will continue with him.
Based. I actually enjoy Val Kilmers Batman also, the movie was bad but the Batman had potential.
I think Pattinson stated that he based his performance on Mask of the Phantasm; and come to think of it, there are many parallels between Paul Dano's Riddler and the titular Phantasm.
No. He sucks as Bruce Wayne.
Well said
That’s why the dark knight trilogy is overrated to me.

Glad you didn’t quit a few months ago I love Batman content
Keatons suit and Batmobile are to this day remarkable

1:57 u mean the two best suits😂
I REALLY liked Andy Serkis as Alfred. And I know there wasn't a ton of it, But I really liked the chemistry between Robert P. & Andy S. I would love to see more of it...
Problem with Andy Serkis I picture him as Gollum ALL THE TIME!😆😆😆🤣🤣😂😂😂 I mean don't u get that? He was too damn good as Gollum!😆😆😆😂😂😂
If they looked like Affleck acted like Bale and had a story like Battinson it’s perfect
But he feels Bruce is bigger than the Bat as a person…
So just having Bruce cold and indifferent to Alfred just hurt that small bit of likability Bruce needs to have. Bruce having a good heart and their relationship is the only reason Alfred goes along with the Batman stuff.
The sequel needs to develop this a bit more.
He’s definitely top 3 but not the best .
I absolutely agree with everything you said here. You get it. The Batman is the best Batman movie, and Pattinson is the best Batman.
For somebody who doesn’t care about perfect. I love Christian Bales’s bat suit. 🦇🦇🦇
Adam West will always be my favorite Batman, but Robert Pattinson was really good.
people say that this batman isn't a good detective. that's just it. he is a good detective. the point is that just being a good detective isn't good enough to go toe to toe with the riddler. batman needed to step his game up to deal with a threat like that. he didn't need to be good or even great. he needed to be the best to stop him. we saw him becoming more analytical and observant when dealing with riddler. he had to figure out that when dealing with nygma, you gotta go deeper.
my only real problem with The Batman is I feel as if we have been down this road before with the Nolan films; realistic portrayal, sober, grounded feel, a youthful batman prone to mistakes...
Batman's wristbands proves that in THIS universe he was not trained by Ra's al Ghul, but by the Red Room.
Batman is a Black Widow: Confirmed
I totally agree. I was against Patterson when I first heard about it, but he did a good job
I am SO fucking happy we didnt see his parents die i really dont want to ever see that scene again it has been done waaaay too many times
I haven't seen The Batman, but the way people describe Bruce Wayne sounds alot like me. I need to work on my social life.
This is definitely a different take on Batman but I love it. I was worried cause last I saw him was the twilight films and I was scared he would suck but he surprised me. He is good at being both characters. Damaged Bruce and strong and detective Batman. Can’t wait to see the sequel.
Bro played a Vampire, im not surprised he nailed Batman. We can get more Bruce Wayne down the line...💯
I like a Batman that has lessons to learn about himself like this
Pattison was ok as Batman, but he never really sold me as Bruce Wayne.
He's easily the best with a very natural and effortless performance thats pitched just right. Born to play the dark knight.
"I'm vengeance." Can't wait for the batman II !
Nah. Also the hostage scene at the end, the explosions where he enters the building imply he wasted about an hour setting up the bombs in a gimmicky way for spectacle which kinda makes the agency disappear.
my only issue with the film was the constant use of the batcycle. we only get one real scene with the batmobile and in this version he seem to favor the cycle more
I need to see his Arc As Bruce Wayne expanded and then maybe he will take the cake
Hey Vee you should do a video on Superman vs The Elite movie it's pretty good!
His gauntlets are the same as the gauntlets that Talons wear from The Court of Owls.
No performance isn’t immune to criticism
I raise you ledger in dark knight.
He doesn’t fail in any scene, any speech, body language and delivery.
Yes, I agree with you.
“I’m vengeance”
I never thought Robert pattinson would replace
Kevin Conroy on my batman list
Theres something seriously wrong with you
I agree 💯%!
YES!!! YES HE IS!!! 😊😊😊
