POTA With The eBay Yaesu FT-100 and DX Commander Expedition

Out towards the end of July I was able to go out and take advantage of some time off and hit a few new Parks on the Air Parks, this was one of the parks I stopped at, K-0995 Gebhard Woods State Park in Morris, IL.
This was a small park but it is one of the trailheads for the I&M Canal State Trail. Even though it was super warm and humid out, we decided to set up outside and use the eBay Yaesu FT-100 and the DX Commander Expedition antenna to get the park activated. This was a new park for me so was fun getting it on the air! The bands weren't the greatest that day but I did manage to get 20 people in the log from K-0995 including quite a few from the west coast.

I like a vertical for Pota use. Use a Wolf River coil myself. The park folks won’t fuss about ropes or wires in their trees.
What length radials are you using?

For the DX Commander, I'm using 20 radials total and they are about 10 feet long each, but they are put together into bundles of 5 so I only have to attach 4 of them to the base. I've recently picked up a Buddistick Pro and think that is going to become a regular part of my POTA kit. Thanks for watching! -73, Kevin
