Scandinavian black metal is the best ever, especialy 90's releases. and by the way this lay out cover, with the forest and the snow, is beautifull. northern black metal is harsh as a winter storm, and mesmerizing and cold as a snow covered landscape.
Nord. Creative drumming, amazing cold riffs and one of the best black metal album of the '90's. The best production that came out of the Abyss studio's, along with Dark Funeral's "Secrets.." and Marduk with "Heaven Shall Burn..." Period.
This is my first time listening to these guys. Holy shit, this is right up there with Immortal and Mayhem. Perhaps Swedish bm is just as good as the Norwegian variety.
4.23....Anyone else think the riff that kicks in at that point sounds like Immortals riff in Tyrants after the clean bit in the middle? I'm not sure what comes first but it sounds pretty close to me. :P
@Godrik09 Yeah... they have some other good stuff... a song here and there. Do you like Zarathustra? I think most BM bands churn out more uninspired music than we need. Marduk for instance is looked at as one of the best in BM... and theyre boringly typical. Even Dark Funeral changed into something tame and boring. The only bands that really stand out to me, songwriting-wise, are Dissection and the mighty Immortal. This album is a classic though. Every black metal fan should own it.

This song is a pure masterpiece, up there with the likes of Emperor, Limbonic Art, Immortal, old Satyricon...
One of my favourites songs from one of my favourite albums of all-time.
Hearing this brings all the good memories of good old black metal back
