Hey Matt, I just wanted to say that this review inspired my purchase of my Fiesta ST back in 2015. I've absolutely loved every minute of my ownership, 113,000 miles later. In 2 weeks, i'll be getting into my next 'hot hatch' with a nice Circuit Edition GR Corolla. Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for helping influence my Fiesta ST purchase. Finally pulled the trigger and picked up a 2014 FiST 4 months ago.... have yet to regret it.... just makes me smile every time I drive it

+datingsas So there is a Molten Orange colour here in the UK that definitely looks a lot more orange in real life than in any photos, but if it is is that paint then the colour balance in this video is waaaay off.

@@jakelamotta2387 In the US, they all come the same. There are only a few options. Sunroof, nav, wheel package and Recaros, and some fancier colors.

subaruwrxfan Depends on where you live, and the kinds of roads around you. :) I'm jealous of you! Where you live, you get tons of twisty back roads which are amazing for the Fiesta ST.. But here in Texas, I am burdened with straight, wide roads, so the more brute power coming from the Focus ST was more appealing for me.. And because of the roads, much more exciting to drive. Love both the cars, just in my area the Focus ST is a lot more fun to own (especially since COBB Tuning is literally 10 minutes from my house).

I also live in TEXAS and I still think the *Fiesta ST* is a better car overall, better dynamics. I had the budget to buy the FoST or FoRS and ended up with the FiST, seems to be the most reliable of the bunch as well.
The power is under-rated by Ford. The true numbers are around 215 hp and torque of 250 ft lb. Considering the car weighs around 2750 lbs, it really makes for a very fun and direct driving experience. When compared to the Focus ST, the Fiesta ST feels more like a race car. The suspension is stiffer, the steering is more direct, and the 450lb weight saving makes a huge difference when going into turns and quick left/right transitions.
I'm on the hunt for a fun, speedy car that I can afford but isn't too crazy. That's great to know as I've been trying to decide which one would be more fun.
@@BuBornham I bought a used 2016 with 21k miles on it a couple months ago for 12.9k. Go test drive one, they're great fun and cheap.
That's true if you get the mountune MP215 tune. Stock, it's rated 197 hp and 202 tq. Actual torque is a little higher, around 210.

Don't know what my green envy FiST makes, but it is very fun to drive, and pulls when I need it to especially 2nd and 3rd. It feels like I'm driving a real life Mario Kart lol.
Know this is like 7yrs later but thanks for the vid and detailed review considering buying a 2015 and it'll be the first performance car to own and my wife's first time driving a standard

About the trunk space: something that a lot of people miss is there is a lower setting to the trunk floor which adds a lot of cargo space. I lowered mine all the way (~6 inches lower) and took out the cargo cover and it allowed me to put enough luggage back there for a week-long trip with our family of 4 (and I could still see out the window).
Enjoyed seeing you enjoy driving this car so much. Especially as you are an WRX enthusiast. I would like you to have given a comparison to driving the WRX. You are an excellent reviewer, and I just loved that smile you had for nearly all of the review!

The discounts you can get on this car right now are astonishing, as low as $18k for a base model and $22k fully loaded. It's one of the best deals going period in new cars. I guess it's due to it only being available in manual, which most Americans can't handle, and most Americans are not fans of small hatchbacks either. But the enthusiast reviews are calling this one of the best FWD cars in history, and it's the first time a true Euro-tuned hot hatch is available here. I'm pretty sure I'm getting one and soon!
More deals for the ones who can really appreciate these kind of cars. Hopefully I can pick a green one by this summer.
Green Envy a bold choice. My friend just got a 2015 Molten Orange metallic with orange Recaros. $1000 Ford rebate taken off invoice price. I'm very jealous. At least I get to drive it. The screaming deals were on the 2014's, up to $5k off MSRP, but they're mostly gone now.

dawhitecastle Molten Orange is hardly orange--more of a red-orange than anything else. It looks red unless it is in EXTREMELY bright sunlight or parked next to a Race Red FiST.

I bought a 2014 with 7k on it 2 months ago. I'm still smiling. Love this car.
I own 3 Porsches, 1 Lambo, 2 Ferraris, 1 Viper, 5 Corvettes, 4 Mustangs, 2 Challengers, 2 Chargers, 1 John Deer tractor, 1 Bobcat skidsteer, 5 dirt bikes, 12 ATV's, 1 set of rollerblades, 1 aircraft carrier, 1 donkey, 1 unicycle, and a Ford Fiesta ST.
All modes of transportation are absolute shit compared to the Fiesta ST. Best car ever now and forever. Anything else can suck it.
I just watched this review because I wanted to see your reaction to the Fiesta ST as I am considering selling mine and getting a 2017 WRX or STI. After seeing your reaction it confirmed what I suspect: If I sell my ST I will regret it. My car is still stock and has 33,500 trouble-free miles. It is a brilliant car, but I was considering a Subaru for the speed and the all-weather capability. I think I should keep my ST, thanks for helping me realize it.
I have to admit that I am a huge Subaru fan but these look super fun. I would love to have an STI and also one of these to run around town in.
I've never really liked the Fiesta ST compared to the Focus ST, but then I saw one. It looks so much better than the Focus when you see it for real. And with the awesome handling how could you say no? (Unless you get a Brand new Mustang Ecoboost in Gard instead.) Lol

It's 2017 and this one still has the best design compared to the latest junks they're selling.
Chuck it into a corner and lift of as you turn. Back end steps out, moderate with the throttle. Rinse and repeat. I never get bored hahga
I have a 2016 FiST and LOVE IT. Mine don't have the Recaro's, I wish they did. Can't find anywhere to buy them aftermarket.
at 7:25 you say the driving feel is too high off the ground and shifter too low to the floor.
Why not lower your seat height?

im 6'4 and regular complexion those seats are amazing to me at least, they are some of the best recaros i've ever seat in and some of the best seats out there imho
This was long overdue.... You pretty much nailed it. I have an orange 14 fiesta st that I also picked up used! For the price, there is no comparison for a newer car. However, I don't think they're worth it new. Much more refined cars are just a liiiittle bit more money. Even the civic si in my opinion felt much more refined to me. Initially I had big issues with cheapnesslike the gearbox noise (good job mentioning that)... as I've gotten used to the car, it really doesn't bother me because I remind myself of the total package for the money. One thing thats really nice is how WELL FORD nailed the powerband on both this car and the focus st.... and what I mean is for around town driving, you can really be in a low low gear. Even in stop and go traffic, the car is VERY smooth in 1st and you don't experience bucking like you would in other 4 cylinders.

Does anyone know what camera he uses in the cinematics? And what type of equipment does he use to keep the recorder steady while moving it from side to side?
Test drove my cousin's, first gear aint all that but when you get to second and up that's where all the fun is at! Clutch is light as a feather also.

I bought a 2017 fiesta st last year as well. I also have a edge st for Hwy driving and the fun factor doesn't even compare. Best handling car I've ever driven. Period.
I love my FIESTA ST!, Awesome video, mines got the Cobb Stage 2 and a straight pipe with some wider tires #perfect love it!
There are no better handling hatchbacks. Maybe an old Clio Renaultsport, nothing else.
Even then I think it may handle better, but not be as much fun (just basing on reviews though...we don't have Renaults to drive here).
Adam S I have the 2008 ST, and have driven the current clio rs200, very nice cars. Would love a gordini clio though, 200hp from a non turbo 2 litre. so nice.
***** Yeah...but the torque tho. You need to drive one of the new turbo FiST's...feels like a V6 with the low end torque.

It's funny, in Europe you can only get the Fiesta ST as a 3 door. Seems weird as you would think the market for 5 door hatchback is bigger in Europe...

I was walking home from school and I was listening to music but just as the song ended I heard a exhaust noise so I look left and there is the most gorgeous fiesta st driving by and I started giggling and it made my day then when I went home me and my brother got the dual carburetors installed on the karmann ghia so great day
I live in Canada and test drove this car yesterday. The standard Recaro seats are too narrow for us bigger guys (I'm 6ft with a wide back). I was very uncomfortable and no way I could fit with a winter jacket on. But if you have a small build this is a fantastic car. the low RPM torque is addictive and the car is a ton of fun to drive. If I could get the car without the Recaro's it would be in my driveway right now.
JR Lopez You can it is only an option. I opted out of gertting the Recaros because being a hockey player of 17 years I have larger thighs. Just too uncomfortable.
+JR Lopez In Canada you can order them without the Recaro's. You don't save any money but you can get them. I've confirmed this with a dealer manager.

I know a lot of newer cars have fake exhaust sounds coming out of the speakers. Is that the case with this? Or were all those sounds real? If so it sounds amazing for a 1.6l

The Sound Symposer sounds great. It channels sound directly from the engine bay to the cabin and I prefer it over a FAKE note from the speakers. If Ford did it with the Ecoboost Mustang I would've been fine with it.

I think it's one of the best euro sports cars you can find around, I mean it is in Europe so it is in the US. I can't remember a similar car with a small motor, less than 200 hp and a nice price tag over a normal Civic Type R. The Ford has improved this little car with tons of nice features. Well done. And for you Matt I loved the feature of the new angle camera you should use it more often!

Long term durability is excellent!
I can tell you in this market resale is probably 75 or 80% of what it sold for new. I just ordered one on carvana, 1 owner low miles and well maintained 18000g. I hate paying that much but prices are high now. I needed a commuter with good mpg and as a car guy it needed to be fun to drive. My first small turbo car. I'd prefer a 400hp v8 but just not practical with $5 gas now at all.
I recently got one in black without the recaros it was a pretty penny but its gonna be worth it in the long run im still breaking in the engine so i cant floor it yet but im still having fun with it, now after watching this review im a go out and drive it some more
How you get red :(?! Im getting one special ordered and they said they only have orange black white and metallic and the white dosent offer the orange recaro
@ subaruwrxfan...after trying all the amazing cars you have tried...has your opinion changed about how great the fiesta st is...would you still buy it?
Now I think you are taller than I am. But the seats for my wife and I (5'-6" and 5'-3" respectively) were pressing on the tendons in the back of our knees due to our shortness. Thus it really made our legs uncomfortable and hurt after just 30 mins of test driving. I believe it is caused by steep the angle of the seats. I would also say it was too snug across the shoulders. But I assume that would break in a little.

The only body roll you feel in that car is your own body rolling because of the seating position. Not the car.

***** I live in the US so there is no factory mountune option. I've heard their ecu tunes through the AP are good, but I still with Cobb's.
+nickL7389 I'm fairly certain you can order many of the same Mountune pays through Ford'S website a and have them fitted through an authorized dealer. I was looking into that before purchasing my Fiesta.
Tharee MaahthePuddi the AP from Cobb is only $500 US. 26% increase in torque just from the stage 1 tune with no mods...insane bang for the buck.
