So she knows the person is coming over to drop off groceries, fails to secure multiple dogs, doesn’t want to entertain the possibility that her dog became aggressive, takes no responsibility for what happened and now blames Instacart for the entire thing.
Wow. I’ve lost a lot of respect for Angie Harmon and don’t blame this man for shooting that dog. I guess it’s the American way to blame everyone else for your problems. Pathetic

The lawsuit states alleged trespassing? Seriously? It's like saying UPS or FexEx or other delivery services that provide drop off mail or packages to your house that you authorized to delivery which means allowing drivers to your home to drop them off on your property. I see that Angie Harmon is all over the media. But unfortunately there are unanswered questions there. Was the dog unleashed and roaming freely during the delivery time? Was the home fenced to prevent such incidents? The driver was at fault for using someone else's driver account and Instacart did the right thing to cancel the account immediately. Instacart after such incidents need to have either fingerprints or facial identity similar to UberEats. What does the driver mean by being attack? Also was the driver licensed to have a gun. There are conflicting information on where he was bitten or not. It sucks the home security video was out. I do understand drivers with guns, teasers, or pepper spray to defend themselves from dog attacks. There's reports of delivery drivers getting mauled while during their job. Sorry I don't buy all dogs are friendly to everyone. It may be friendly to the family but some dogs do react differently. Also what's on the police report. The media doesn't help. Alot of possible facts but no truth. But the bottom line is a beloved family dog was killed. This was a tragedy. And in time the real truth comes out.

Why was the dog not confined while expecting a delivery? Dogs are territorial and will bark aggressively at a stranger. Male or female. Maybe sometimes more aggressive at a male person coming onto its property. Some people are scared of dogs and have been bit before or weren't raised around dogs. And some people think a barking dog is attacking them when in reality it is just barking Because that is what dogs do too strangers.

Is she serious? She’s suing the company AND the delivery guy? I’m actually so sorry for the dog because he’s been the victim of her negligence. If you expect a delivery, your dog should be kept inside until the delivery is made. Even if your property is fenced (and it would have been a good thing to mention if the place was fenced or not because the negligence is even worse if there’s no fence), your dog should be inside or you should be at least with him outside and control it. In my country, the law is you have to control your dog in all circumstances, all the time. You can’t leave it alone in the garden (fence or no fence). She’s the one who would be legally held responsible if it happened in my country. Instacart or the delivery guy aren’t responsible, even if the delivery guy could have just left the package on the sidewalk instead of rushing to the porch when he saw the dog was getting aggravated by his presence-of course, running toward the home was the opposite of the right thing to do because 99% of dogs will react to that because it’s abnormal behavior and it feels threatening to them and you’re going toward them and their home. But well, you can’t expect every delivery person to be familiar with dog communication and how to deescalate a tense situation. They also shouldn’t have to deal with your dog because you can’t be bothered to have some respect for them and put your dog inside in case the delivery person is fearful of dogs. Especially since any dog, and I really mean any dog, can bite someone depending on the situation, his health, the behavior of the person, etc. I’ll concede that it’s not normal for a delivery person to carry a gun and he might be sued by the company for that, especially since it’s in the guidelines, but she really can’t expect the guy to wait until he’s been bitten before defending himself. And he doesn’t need bite marks or torn clothes to prove that the dog tried to attack him. I actually hope he sues her for putting him at risk when she knew that someone was coming to deliver a package. This is so irresponsible and I say that as a dog owner. You can’t act like that when you have a dog, for their safety and for everyone else’s safety.

There are many people who support his actions, then again they are often the same people who would take you for stepping one foot on their property. If the dogs demonstrated no aggressive behavior in the past and got along well with every single other delivery that happens multiple times a day, there is no reason to think this was any different. He was probably just scared, cowering behind his 2nd Amendment and couldn't fathom the idea of shooting in the air, at the grass, really any place other than the dog's vitals that would have instantly deter it. Hard to believe there isnt security cameras, would want to see them to form a real opinion. Think about it though, the guy wasnt bit or anything… it sounds like he had his gun out while bringing the package up?! If you feel the need to have your firearm out why didnt he just not deliver the package…? Its not like with police where they NEED to go on to the property to make an arrest, this guy could have just left and told his employer he couldn’t deliver it due to the dogs. That alone makes me think he should be charged for this, and have his carry permit revoked.

    1. If someone is so unreasonable afraid of dogs, he should not work as deliverer.
    2. Why did he enter the property? When you deliver something you ring the bell and wait until the owner opens the front door or the garden door.
    3. Was he black and that is why the police closed the case, to avoid "special" problems.
