Nice trip, wow!, how times have changed. In my day, back in the late 70s, we never filtered the water, took it straight out of the lake, and drank it. Thanks, watching you paddle and portage brings back memories.
I recently came across your channel and this is the first video I’ve watched. Very enjoyable. I’ll have to get caught up 👍🏻 That’s too bad about your tire. It’s not the way anyone wants to end a trip.
Good video, great landscapes but oh, those portages & slogs! And not a word of complaint from you. Respect. Great dog, what kind? There's nothing like having a dog along. I used to trip with my Brittany, perfect canoe dog!
Great video of your trip , very mellow and easy to watch and stay focused on. This trip route is very interesting to us. I have a question… if you had to do it again would you bring a Kevlar boat? You did do a fare amount of portaging . Just curious because we may do the same trip. We have a Kevlar and a royalex canoe. Not sure which one to use.
Hi there. I have heard some people doing this trip with a kevlar boat. In the first half of the trip it would have been fine, but after the crossover there were many shallow sections where we had to pull the canoe over gravel and rocky bars where we had to get out and drag the canoe over. In spring or early summer it would probably be ok with kevlar but we were happy with our decision to bring the royalex on our trip, as it did take quite a few scrapes. Thanks for watching.
This is a dream route of mine. No WW experience tho. I'm hoping to do it this or next season. I heard there was a new portage made so the Diablo was avoidable
It is a Dagger Legend. It’s about 18 years old but has had various repairs and upgrades over the years. It’s a good all around wilderness canoe but is more suited for river/whitewater.
I did that route in 1998. I see the portages are still not wheelchair accessible. Nice video. Good narration. Dawson is a hero.
I bet it was pretty rough doing it in ‘98. It was an awesome trip and well worth the Diablo Portage. Thanks for watching !
that portage was insane, i'd look at a map and be like i can solo this then get there and cry lol
Fun video you two, I'll be taking this route on solo starting next week. Cheers!
Enjoyed this because the video was about the trip and not about you. Nice scenery. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Now I know I am not the only one who paints my Royalex canoes.
Great Video, just came across your channel. Dawson loves tripping as much as our Emma looks like
Nice video. Looks like a great trip. Lucky to see that Lynx.

Thanks for watching. I’m sure it was a much more challenging trip back in the 70’s!

SUPER SUPER SUPER X 1100 Serbia Belgrade
What type of dagger canoe are you using? I own a Caption and it is great on moving water, nor so much on flat water.
