One of my favorite hacks is to cut up those braided leather belts and then you get a bunch of free strings of leathery material to glue/sew into straps. I used them as straps for leather armor and embellishments on some pouches I also thrifted (just brown wallets and coin purses!)
I love metal belts! I was lucky enough to find two but haven't seen any since. Thrifts near me are mostly badwills so all the good stuff is probably taken aside for them to scalp online
@@tiarenai_ssance I am so sorry I don’t have instagram but I am wearing a dark auburn dress with a dark brown corset, a flower crown and elf ears. I also have a ton of nature and celestial themed jewelry that I made for the occasion. I’ve decided on kind of a „friendly witch“ vibe.
Thank you so much! I just went to my first ten faire yesterday and I’m planning on going thrifting this weekend for a witch cat cosplay!!! This was so helpful! ❤ new sub
renaissance faires vary but most lean pretty heavily into medieval fantasy vibes. i know originally it was more common to wear period accurate clothing (and a lot of the cast usually still do) but they also incorporate lots of high fantasy elements. so dnd vibes are super on par for ren faires, esp in recent years 🤎
Ever since they were places for nerds, who are typically into all of those things. So since forever. Think about it. The venn diagram of fans between all of those groups of interests you just mentioned is practically one circle. Nerds and outcasts and weirdos will always be into weird and nerdy things and want to gather with other weird and nerdy people. Coming from a weirdo
@@purinsea they were originally historical reenactments of the english renaissance and the wikipedia article abt them doesnt mention furries or fairies. thats like going to a civil war reenactment dressed like princess peach. also you sort of just called everyone who goes to ren fairs a weirdo nerd outcast, which is accurate from the videos i’ve seen
@broimagine2794 yeah, places change, society evolves, interests evolve, but people who are considered on the "fringes" of the society stay the same. People who are into fandom spaces are considered outcasts to people with "normal" interests. the evolution of historical reenactments to furries and fairy cosplayers is not really surprising at all. Do you think people who do historical reenactments aren't nerds? I just think it isn't unreasonable that the space has involved to include more modern nerdier interests is all.
@@purinsea it was meant to be a historical reenactment of a real time in history. id imagine the original history nerds who worked so hard to make it as authentic as possible being the most annoyed over people cosplaying as something completely unrelated
@broimagine2794 im starting to think you have never been to a ren faire lmao. definitely not true. literally, star wars cosplayers show up to ren faires and everyone loves them. it's just a fandom space is all. if historical reenactment folks were really so pressed as you believe them to be, then they would just make specific groups and events catered to historical reenactment groups. theres a reason ren faires don't impose limits like that. they're not for just that purpose anymore and its not because cosplayers and furries "took them away". again, the space naturally evolved.
I like how renn faire is no longer renaissance era but rather full blown fantasy cosplay with elves and faeries
@@fish.e me too ☺️
@@tiarenai_ssance it’s way more fun, approachable and affordable.
Unless you work at one.
I think people of the real era would've loved it! Matches the art!
And don't forget the corsets cinched tight, hoisting the girls front and center

Woven sun hats are a great choice as well! They’re good for a peasant look and great for keeping the sun out of your eyes and off the neck!
