Съжалявам, че не говоря английски, но гледам всяко ваше видео и се ориентирам по коментарите. Хармониката е велико изживяване и всички свирещи на нея принадлежат към една общност. Поздрави от България!🎉

I think a lot of people play fast because they think it’ll make them sound like John Popper, or someone similar. It won’t. I can almost guarantee that everything the pros play first were first played slowly until it was perfect before taking it anywhere near a stage or recording studio.
I recently made the shift from Lee Oskars, which I played almost exclusively for over 20 years, to 1847 Silvers. They’re expensive, so I only have a few. But they demand precise technique and air control to sound good. They’re not as easy to play as my trusty LO’s. And I find it near impossible to play fast runs on them, probably because of the stainless steel reeds and the fact that I really need to hone my skills. They force me to play slower, and more precisely. Not only do I make fewer mistakes, but I have the time to properly identify the mistakes I do make and work on them before they become ingrained in my muscle memory. And my playing has improved so much as a result.
And I’ve also found that there’s a certain soulful beauty in slow harmonica played well. It’s incredibly satisfying. I prefer to play a heartfelt, expressive tune or riff nice and slow rather than racing off up and down the scale like Speedy Gonzales.

Yes great advice. I need work on all three. Especially the 3’rd one play way too fast. Why is it we naturally want to play fast?

I can only imagine Tomlin. I never had kids myself but I’m sure that adds a new dimension to things. And a 2 and 4 year old! 😊. I’m sure it’s all worth it though!!

Mirror and/or video record yourself playing. A side view is easy to get on video. Mirror is instant feedback. I try to do both.

@@31416 I’ll have to start doing that. I would have never thought about the mirror idea! Definitely makes sense though. Imma try it for sure.

I paraphrase what the drumming educator I follow on RUclips says Re: speed: “Slow is accurate.” I think he got it from other source though.

Every beginner wants to play fast. But I was told "you got to start slow". And I was like "what are you talking about?" It didn't take long to figure it out. After many years of practice, no better advise can be heeded. Believe it! Every time you approach something new, start out slow and get it right.

When you play the harmonica do you have put it entirely into the Mouth or just the edge ?
    How deep into mouth ?
