I’ve never been told not to have free time, not to watch netflix outside of work, not to get 8 hours of sleep, etc. The suggestion that you spend every waking hour working and cut your sleep to 3 hours a day is unbelievable. Totally unhealthy for anyone.

    As a counselor, it makes me absolutely cringe that she said the feeling is a lie. It completely invalidates the person's experience and feelings. We usually tell our clients to sit with the feeling and embrace and let them see how it's impacting them. But never ever that it's a lie, and the fact that she said that infuriates me beyond belief.

    • @JayMaverick
      @JayMaverick 2 года назад +16

      Indeed. Invalidating people's feelings is absolute poison and is the core of gaslighting.
      To expand on that - feelings happen. It's involuntary. They're real. It's like your heart beating. It happens, no use denying that.
      How you react to those feelings, now that's where it gets interesting and where we can do a lot of work.

That poor kid does not understand why his mom is choosing to spend more time on a pyramid scheme then on him. I’m not rich but I have plenty of quality time with my kids and they’ll never remember me prioritizing something over them.

    • @Galworld761
      @Galworld761 Год назад

      Reality is that there are times your kids have to wait b/c you need to work to clothe, shelter and feed them. When they get older they will appreciate your work ethic. However, the key is being 100% present on a consistent basis. My dad could not go to every sports event but he made it a few times per month and was completely in the moment. Vacations completely on the moment. I still remember his swimming lessons. This lifestyle seems to make you physically there but not “present” which feels like consistent rejection.

      In China, MLMs are totally illegal, as they should be. (I don't love the Chinese government in general, but that's one thing they've got right.) I think the US puts such an emphasis on economic freedom (read: lack of regulations) that it can leave the door wide open for scams.

    • @perryegolson833
      @perryegolson833 2 года назад +17

      @@larissabrglum3856 We had our chance to basically bury the MLM industry before it had a chance to take off here in the US. It was the Amway case of 1979. It truly was a landmark case, and the ruling has done so much economic damage in its wake. Billions and Billions of dollars. That's not even talking about people who lost their homes to this, their cars, couples who got divorced, people who spent their retirement savings on it, people who dropped out of college to pursue this, ruined credit scores,.....etc.
      If you're not familiar with the case, Amway was sued for running a pyramid scheme and the case went to a federal court in the late 1970's. If Amway had lost, it's game over and their company is done. But even though Amway is obviously a pyramid scheme to anyone with a functioning brain, the court ruled in their favor because, it's America so of course they did. (I'm sure Dick DeVos had something to do with it) They said since Amway sells products they technically don't meet the definition of an illegal pyramid scheme. And with that, they rolled out the red carpet for all the MLM's that would follow. Just pathetic.

      That's what brainwashing does to them- these women can't tell it's highly bad for their mental health to do so because of how much kool-aid they're drinking, and we can see it in this video: one moment, it's a flex, another is a sacrifice for the hustle if you want big numbers, and at the end, they try to guilt-trip with it.
      It all depends on what emotions they want to evoke in the listeners.

    • @holliegriffin5361

      It’s so sad that these people are giving up such valuable moments with loved ones for a scam. Sometimes the best moments are watching crappy tv shows with your family, randomly going out on a whim, being able to stop what you’re doing and support a loved one during a bad time. Is money really worth it?
      There are other ways to make money but you can’t salvage those relationships and missed moments. You should be working to live- to be around and experience life, not live to work where you’re just prolonging the sinking of a doomed ship. I’d rather be scammed of money than those precious moments with people I love, even if it’s just watching crappy tv or having a girls night out together.

During the pitch to recruit someone that person is told that joining the MLM is a way to free him/herself from having a boss, but once in the MLM, I guarantee everyone feels that they have multiple bosses. And uplines take a position of authority over their recruits and try to manage them as a boss would (but with way less boundaries).

    Hannah!!!!!! This video was everything I needed especially the part when you spoke to those who are in Monat and said it is not your fault !!!! Not sure if you remember but I am still part of Monat and honestly it took some reflecting to now consider not being part of the business and I haven't said that until now. After weeks of going through the goals and not hitting them weeks after weeks. I said you know what there are other ways to make money on the side then having to harass the same people or create conversations to potentially make a sale. It didn't feel right and I didn't build a team because if I'm feeling this way now, how can I get others to join and potentially look at me as if I took advantage of them.
    I have decided to pursue other ways that will help pay off my debt and where I don't need a team of people to determine my paycheck. I'm going back to learning about real estate and wholesaling, while working as a cop in NY and I also have a part time side gig that helps bring in money too. I joined Monat to replace that part time gig so I could sleep, after 7 months of being in the business, I have very limiting time to waste of things that won't serve my future.
    I felt a huge desire to share my story on your comments because who knows maybe there are other Market Partners in Monat watching your videos and feel the same way as I do. Thank you for continuing to serving the community. Love your videos!

I’m trying to compile information and slowly speak with girls (my sidelines) about this one on one. I feel bad for my uplines honestly because I think they are so brain wasted they have no clue as to why they are doing and how it’s hurting everyone under them. I’ve only been in for 4 months and how much you get sucked in in just this short period is astounding. I also want to help the new girls too. They’re so motivated and honestly it will fade. I can't really disagree with her. She was trapped and didn't have choices. It sucks that waiting for her was a scam opportunity that even if it worked for her, counted on her making promises she couldn't keep and preying on other vulnerable women. This says so much about the serious need for universal childcare in this country, and a min wage increase that correctly reflects the heinous cost of living.

    What I really appreciate about a 9-5 is the healthy boundaries it entails where work stays at work within the confines of that time frame. I don't have to have random thoughts at 11pm when I'm laying in bed like "I should be doing more work". Working from home or from your phone is very difficult to create healthy boundaries with. It's not impossible, but it takes pointed effort, willpower, and practice. But with MLMs they encourage the opposite of boundaries, which is even more unhealthy. To me this is where it can tailspin into the ruminating thoughts of not being "good enough". No effort becomes enough, no rank becomes enough, and eventually you start to view yourself as "not enough". Being in an MLM breeds dissatisfaction to the core, which breaks my heart to witness.

    • @cosmicqt9647
      @cosmicqt9647 2 года назад

      I typed this all out before watching till the end, so I did hear them say to create some boundaries with parent time vs working the biz time. Unfortunately, as far as work goes, it still is an unhealthy balance to be working into the wee hours of the morning because your subconscious is guilting you to be constantly doing more (which us likely from your upline planting that thought into your subconscious).

    The sunken cost fallacy that you talk about and this is exactly why I remained a coach for as long as I did with Beachbody. After about five years, I started to really feel like maybe this wasn’t my place anymore. But I had invested so much time and energy and money into the situation that I felt like I needed to stay and try to make it work. At the point of eight years I’ve visited that same thought again after having some decent success (nothing great but noticeably better than when I first had that thought), and I realized that I probably should leave. But I talked to somebody about it, and they convinced me to stay and I stuck around for another two years before I finally walked away from it all. This entire conversation was a lightbulb moment for me today even though I’ve been gone for over a year now. I really did feel like I had given too much time and effort to the company to leave, and it would be considered giving up and that I would be made fun of for leaving after all of that time.

    Edit: have a party. Lol.

    Okay, so by her logic, when I was reading 113 books while making minimum wage means the following year I should've made 7 times that minimum wage the next year?

    I 100% love my full time day job! It's great, flexible, and chill - and I get to work with art, artists, and curators regularly. I'm paid well, especially for someone relatively new to my field (archives/collections management) and I'm valued and treated well
    I also do actually get paid for trips as well as paid time off haha
    it would be such a turn off if someone tried pitching to me by assuming I hated my day job....

    All this is so stressful. Who in their right mind wants to work 24/7 all for a house of cards where it can topple and fall at any moment. Thanks but no thanks!!

    “So and so didn’t work hard enough so I didn’t hit my rank”…… she labels this as a bad mindset and that instead you should just “show up as yourself/worry about doing the work yourself” yet she’s here telling all of the people under her that they need to work constantly!?!

    it's so hilarious how the "training calls" are literally 5 seconds of actual advice for every 30 minutes of blather. Like they say a nice sounding sentence and then spew bs about their personal lives for 20 minutes that literally no one actually cares about 😂

    She wants people to read over 30 books when? 3 hours sleep, no free time... when are you supposed to read books?
