I feel like Evans dwelt too much on Amin's apology which was not an admission of government's huge role played in the mismanagement of affairs, but rather for the pain the citizens endured. Amin still held the view and blamed largely COVID and the Russia-Ukraine war for the said pain. In essence, if you shove me to the floor (government to DDEP citizens) and wait for two weeks to come and tell me you're sorry for the pain I endured from my fall (as Amin did), without firstly admitting your role in the fall, i.e. the shove (government's mismanagement and nonchalance), showing remorse for your lack of an immediate apology (arrogant posturing) and go on to claim i fell because a strong wind blew (lies and gaslighting), you can't possibly expect me to take your non-apology seriously.
