My mom is Mexican, and I have grown up always cutting the ends and rubbing it against the cucumber like you showed. She taught us that. I don't recall ever eating a bitter cucumber that we prepared...eaten plenty of bitter ones at restaurants! I think it works! (:
First time I saw this kind of variety and ur vidios are very inspirational... I love d way u show love in growing ur kitchen garden and the happiness u get wen u r harvesting ur hard work...
We used apply small cuts and then rub the end for a few seconds, this method makes a little foam on bigger side. Just slice it off and you will notice a significant reduction in bitterness.
Hello, Thank you! This was a great video. I have a 15 gallon fabric pot that measures 20 inches in diameter and 12 inches in height. What's the most bush type cucumber plants I can plant in this pot? Kind regards.
I plant cucumbers using this video a few months ago and today I saw some cucumbers, I am so happy the only problem is that I can't find something to support them since I am in lockout I can't go and buy them online in my country, I used wood stick, still I hope they continue to resist. Thank you for the video.
Over here in Malaysia,we used to just rub the top part of a cucumber only. By rubbing we can draw some of the liquid out of it .i think that’s the reason we rub it. Sometimes we even rub it with a little salt to get a better result, that’s to do away its bitterness.
I found depending on the time of year can effect bitterness seems like early in the year I got a way with not peeling but as the season went on I had to peel to cut down bitterness.
We've been rubbing the ends of our cucumbers for a long time, we don't know why it works either, but every time we rub them it's a good cucumber lol. Glad to know were not the only ones.
Awesome cuke video..I also rub ends to remove bitterness..don’t how it works but it works..I jus harvested a bunch of tasty cucumbers..was spiny though.
Hello , I see that you are using the barrel style containers , are they the 16" or the 20" ? Also can these Bush type cucumbers be grown well in standard 3-5 gallon nursery containers ?
I am growing cucumbers this year and I noticed there are no female flowers on the main stem. They are only growing on the sucker vines. Though I have removed most suckers I did miss a couple but I did notice the females on the suckers I had missed. Do you know why this happens? Or what should I do?
Hi, could you please let me know more about the retaining wall that looks so good in your garden. How can I build one and how to save the fence if I am using id for my gardening space. Thanks.
Very good gardening channel. Here in scotland its very hard to grow cucumber outside but i am going to try and grow in pollytumnal. Could you please tell me which seeds are better for cold weather thanks.
Yes,this technique work. First we rub out then peal out...after rub up something come out & bitter gone. Video was very nice.I don't know English correctly. So...I'm sorry
Thanks for the video and lots of information....Just a question, are you tying the stems on the stick too tight? i keep them slack as i used to make them tight and realized it wounded the stem...it needs space to expand or grow...Was just curious, i could not tell so much from the video but it seemed over tight..
Hi! I am a new gardener. I am basically into ornamental plants for now. I watched and liked some of your videos. Looking forward to more of your videos on ornamental plants. I am having a problem with the drainage in my Cocopeat, perlite & vermicompost potting mix. The impatiens plants that I grew in the above potting mix are suffering from bud drop. How do I make amends?
Hi CG In case of Determinate (Bush type tomatoes) does a sucker/side shoot (eminating from the main stem) after some growth itself grow side shoot and so on (just like indeterminate)? If so this would be an unending cycle till the plant dies of because of some disease or heat or frost. I understand that the terminal end ends in flower bud in the main stem as well as suckers thus restricting further top growth. Please share your understanding. Thanks in advance.
Determinate varieties produce all shoots at once and then produce tomatoes. And thats the end. Sometimes you can prune heavy and force the plant to produce more side shoots
Yes that technique works and works well if you use it before you peel it so that you can grip it better and when you rub it with a lot of speed in a circular fashion it will ooze out some milky looking liquid. Now wash and peel it and enjoy.
Now to prove that this technique work use 1 cucumber from a set without applying this technique, if it tastes bitter try other cucumber from the same set by applying this technique. Certainly you will feel the difference.
My plant is currently only growing 1 fruit. The other female flowers keep dying off after pollination. Can u tell me what the issue is? 😢 First timer with bush. Thank you❤
why people said only grafting may help us to get same variety of what we are planting back.............and we won't get the same variety back of the plant that we are planting by seedling...........so if we planting a cucumber seed from the cucumber that we are planting will it get the same variety of the cucumber that we are planting back for us??????
I heard something about removing the 'male' cucumber flowers to stop your Cucumbers being bitter. There's some way of differentiating the male & female flowers, apparently!
My cucumbers once they reached 50 % growth they got infested with maggots.. it was heart breaking.. the plant looks healthy.. even though I spray neem, detergent mixed in a ltr water weekly this happened. this was my 3rd attempt in growing cucumbers..😐💔 wat am I doing wrong
Buy seeds here: amzn.to/2Ff49OA
Thanks. This year I bought bush seedlings, having never seen them before. You're a good teacher.
My mom is Mexican, and I have grown up always cutting the ends and rubbing it against the cucumber like you showed. She taught us that. I don't recall ever eating a bitter cucumber that we prepared...eaten plenty of bitter ones at restaurants! I think it works! (:
First time watching, and first time planting bush cucumbers, I will follow the instructions. Gracias!!!😊
Thank you for posting your educational video on the Bush Slicer Cucumber plant. I learned a few things from you.
Great episode on growing cucumbers. I have never heard of the technique to take away the bitterness that you used.
First time I saw this kind of variety and ur vidios are very inspirational... I love d way u show love in growing ur kitchen garden and the happiness u get wen u r harvesting ur hard work...
I’m growing Bush type this year for the first time! Always grow vine ones but I seeded some Spacemaster cukes
We used apply small cuts and then rub the end for a few seconds, this method makes a little foam on bigger side. Just slice it off and you will notice a significant reduction in bitterness.
Love this!! Thank you! I always rub mine too. My grandma used to tell me that it takes the sickness out of it.
I’m using this for my school electives thank you
All the best!
When using sesame oil for powdery mildew, do you mix with water? What ratio? Thank you for your wonderful videos. They are so informative.
Hello,
Thank you! This was a great video.

Does heavy rain negatively affect cucumber plants
What kind of fertilizer were you using to feed these cucumbers , if you don't mind me asking ?
We've been rubbing the ends of our cucumbers for a long time, we don't know why it works either, but every time we rub them it's a good cucumber lol. Glad to know were not the only ones.
Awesome cuke video..I also rub ends to remove bitterness..don’t how it works but it works..I jus harvested a bunch of tasty cucumbers..was spiny though.
After sowing the seed ,you kept the seeds in sunlight or in shade thanks
They need sunlight
It's works we do before removing peels
Can I use a 5 gallon container as I don’t have much space?
yes it works , in Bangladesh we do this for cucumber....to remove bitterness.
Hello , I see that you are using the barrel style containers , are they the 16" or the 20" ? Also can these Bush type cucumbers be grown well in standard 3-5 gallon nursery containers ?
These are 22 inches wide and 15 inches tall. Home Depot sells a lot of these (Southern patio brand). Bush cucumbers will grow in a 5 gallon container
What time of year do you start and transplant cucumbers?
I am growing cucumbers this year and I noticed there are no female flowers on the main stem. They are only growing on the sucker vines. Though I have removed most suckers I did miss a couple but I did notice the females on the suckers I had missed. Do you know why this happens? Or what should I do?

You can find all the details here: ruclips.net/video/3MetXX9SkWs/видео.html
How long do you let your irrigation run for? Also do you start your seeds indoors or do you keep them outside? No hardening off?
Can you direct sow there bush variety cucumbers in your container?
Mantap👍🏻, saya sedang mau semai timun juga. Semoga tanaman saya juga bisa subur seperti anda.

Thank you, glad you like the videos! Dont forget o give a thumbs up (Like)!

Oh and how do u know when they're ready for harvest? Thanks again
Pick as big as you want them. Smaller ones are less bitter with smaller seeds. The more you pick the more will grow over the season
those are beautiful and easy to grow it looks like. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for the video and lots of information....Just a question, are you tying the stems on the stick too tight? i keep them slack as i used to make them tight and realized it wounded the stem...it needs space to expand or grow...Was just curious, i could not tell so much from the video but it seemed over tight..
Yes I do keep some slack!

Yes we have to rub b4 peeling otherwise no effect! I suppose there are veins in the skin which has the action!😊
Thanks for sharing 😊
Are these seeds still available on Amazon?
Thank you! I will be trying the bush type next time.
Can you 'harvest' the seeds and plant them?
My plant is currently only growing 1 fruit. The other female flowers keep dying off after pollination. Can u tell me what the issue is? 😢

Hi, is it necessary to mix peat moss in winters as well??
Can I grow cucumber that bought from market
I'm in the UK. Are the wildfires affecting you?
Thank you
Thank you... help full video
You did not apply any fertilizer on your cucumber, did it not requir it?
This cucumber variety looks like our desi kheera/kakdi as the seed is very small and thin.
വെള്ളരിക്ക...ഇത് സാലഡ് വെള്ളരി ആണോ
Bitter is a big problem what is the reason?
Its just some varieties that are prone to be bitter. Also grow 2-3 plants together
the rubbing technique, i was taught by my mom since small. we rub all our cucumbers. so i am not sure if it actually really works.
MissyNa91 5
Learnt this from my pappa
Thank you for high quality helpful video. It's possible some bitter is good for the body, please check it out.
Beautiful..
Nice!
I heard something about removing the 'male' cucumber flowers to stop your Cucumbers being bitter. There's some way of differentiating the male & female flowers, apparently!
Missing summer😔
To avoid bitterness before cutting the cucumber just break the cucumber into 2 pieces. Then peel the skin.
And the skin have the nutrients in it
I tried growing cucumbers and I got flowers but it didn't give any actual cucumber

fruit flies search how to deal with them.
Maybe buy some ladybugs to put in your plants and kill any maggots that try to infest your plants
Hi nice video
Lol, I thought you were a teenager.
