Good to see your tails up again...your hearts are singing things are on the move...sailing world needs people like you.
Just watching this and the numbers climbing did some calc.views are at around 1000 per hour(hrs on air divide by views)thus more frequent e.g. weekly videos would increase views and therefore revenue giving more possibilities to do cool stuff, getting more reviews and shares thus growing subscribers... vicious circle...think that's what happened with vagabonde....then you can get to stuff you been wanting to do.....just saying!
Don't believe I'll wait 😅
Megan, I was born a “Boone” and am also related to Daniel Boone from the early pioneer days. I believe he is a cousin to me but I’m asking my mom to confirm.
Anyhow, we love y’all’s videos and look forward to seeing your new home on the water.
So many Daniel Boone connections here! I was told that I'm related to his wife- Rebecca Bryan. Cheers, possible/likely relatives, kindred spirits.
Leaf blowers are the jetskis you thought you escaped when you got back on the land.
The great thing about sailing is that everyone has their own dream and their own pathway to achieving it.
Exactly. Cheers!
Good to see you back on the tube, best of luck on getting your new boat...
Fantastic, the boat you are searching for is out there 😊 thanks for the update. Love you guys
Can’t wait to see you back on the water!!!! So EXCITING!!!!
Yay you’re back! I was worried. Please keep us posted.
Excellent, I've been hoping for an update soon! Good luck guys, fingers crossed
Can't wait to see the next boat, and the adventures it leads us to! And since there is no perfect boat, I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly as you shift gears from your last boat. Enjoy the transition and fingers are crossed that THIS is the one...finally!
Hi guys my name is Martin and I have been following you since Covid , I was never able to give a like or comment due to limited internet access and wi-fi.
I am able to verify that without your contribution to my sanity I would be a mess today. Thank you for every video you have made and posted, it is what made things bearable, I am forever grateful to you, thank you 🙏
Martin, it makes us so happy to think that one of our little productions brought a smile or two. I don't think you could pay a higher compliment. We all have dark times, and you just brightened one for me. Thank you. We never know what shores the pebble's waves break on....cheers.
Oh my gosh!! Fingers crossed again! Big love you guys.
Feelin it. Thanks!
YAY guys!!!!🎉🎉🎉 I know you’ll find a perfect balance of comfort and performance 👏
Great to hear your almost there
Thanks as always for update. Was starting to wonder what was going on. Always looking forward to news from Y’all.
Good to hear you guys are sticking to the performance cat plan. Fast cats really are the most fun and I know you guys will get a lot of personal satisfaction in becoming expert at tweaking the rig to make your cat purr and sometimes, even jump and yowl and howl. It's simply exhilarating. And will also be great fun and very exciting for the viewers of your channel to watch you guys zooming about. Thus, everyone learns and we all have fun. That's a win win you guys. Fingers crossed for this one. Let's hope it's the right one for you guys, hope you nail it.
I can't wait to see what boat you come up with. All the best.
So nice to see you and Distant Shores.
Yeaaayyyyyyy OKellys so excited for you and to hear you are under contract!!!!
Can't wait to see you back on the water
That is exciting news!!! Can't wait to see her❤️❤️❤️❤️🥹🥹
Missed you!! Glad you’re well 😊
Great to see ya!
Yay! So good to hear some news…and seemingly good n positive news at that… We’re holding thumbs and crossing everything for you… we’re out on the green machine next weekend (forecast is less than 35 fortunately!) Glad you’re both well 😊
Right on! Ride the Green!
I can't wait to hear from you again. The joy of sharing your adventures!
Thank you my friend, I miss you❤️❤️
This is great to hear. I'm sure others have missed you as much as I have.
Aww that’s really sweet thank you!
Thanks for the update. I think you’ll be happy with a performance cat. Regarding your earlier video, sailing full speed 6000+ miles to a hard deadline isn’t typical cruising. We sailed to Mallorca yesterday upwind for 120 miles on our Outremer 45 no problem. On many cats we would have had to motor. Love the boat! I can mostly single hand it when my wife is sleeping. And it’s easy enough to take an extra reef if you want to slow down and relax.
What sort of winds and seas did you see on your 120 mile upwind trip?
@@TheOKellys we started close hauled in light wind at TWA 50. As the wind and seas built we gradually fell off to TWA 60 and took two reefs. We kept close to the wind nearly the entire way. The weight distribution and narrow bows help keep the ride smoother upwind. Some other cats I’ve sailed hobby horse badly due to excessive weight in the bows or slow way down due to big windage, or slide sideways instead of moving forward, or get a lot of bridgedeck slamming. We love that our Outremer lets us sail more and motor less.
Hard to paint much of a picture without talking about windspeed and sea state.
I was recently thinking about you folks and hoping all was well. I figured you were doing what you needed to do, and now with the news of the new boat, am very much looking forward to the tour.
Can’t wait for the big and final reveal I’m more excited than you I think 🤩
Congratulations, we hope you are in the boat now. Enjoy, it’s been a long time 😊
Great Video. Glad to hear about the progress on a new boat. If you ever get the chance, I would love to see you trying out a Nordhavn 56MS and sharing the experience. Maybe something for that Alaskan Future.
A wonderful mix of hilarity and sober reflections. While watching this episode, I kept having someone pop into my mind…
Steve Martin, a wild and crazy guy!
You two have already done the powerboat thing, many times!!! And will again…those dinghys you use in port and near-shore adventuring 🤪
We love your content guys🤗👌
It has been a month since last video. 😢 You guys okay? Have you got on this mystery boat yet? Just thinking about you guys today.🤔
Sort the comments by "Newest first". They replied to two comments similar to the one you wrote some 11 hours ago. So yeah... I would say they are "just fine" ;-)
I love the conversation you spark. And always in such a good mood that you can lift anyone´s spirit. I´m sure you´ll finally find the right boat. BTW, that moment at 5:06, gosh, you look like models in a commercial LOL
There’s three different sailing channels that have recently got new boats , and the shake down cruises were stressful to say the least.
The plot is thickening again! Can't wait to see your next episode. 🌬
Performance cat, LET’S GO!!! Fingers crossed that this is the one. Wishing you both all the best!
Pretty scenery. It's 78 in So texas rn.
Fingers crossed for you two
I love you guys, always entertaining. 🤣
Great to hear you finally found a boat! Although I am a little confused about the performance/non-performance thing, after the last video ? :-) Hope to see sailing videos soon. Good luck.
It will become clear. There is a spectrum…
Well O'Kellys still following, good luck on this one too.
I've taken the same path where I'd contemplate the deeper meaning of cruising as well... literally!, that's "the path" I used to walk a couple times a week wondering if I was doing the right thing moving aboard my boat ! You guys are everywhere ! 😄
You go get that outremer 55 in Guadeloupe! ;) Whatever it is, I'm cheering for you 🎉!
Good luck with the boat. ;)
Bonjour les amis, what’s new ? Can’t wait more ! Hope you ll find your dream 🤞🏻. Eric
YUSS!
I am thinking about buying a tug boat to do the Big Loop, after I sail south of FL.
The suspense is killing me!!!!!
Lots of love from Canada ❤️ 🚛🚛🚛🚛 🍁
Thank you for the video. You re-emphasized a lot of details that make up your reality. Yours is the only sailing RUclips video that I continue to subscribe to. You research your facts and you are realistic unlike .... I am well past 70 now and finally boat-less although brokers continue to contact me. Like your uncle, I realized that I no longer wanted to deal with all the work that is involved in sailing. So, I now fly where I want to go or let others take me sailing.
Brokers out beating the bushes again. Uncle Tom has owned many sailboats, and still has a J80, but yeh the time comes when the equation changes…if we are lucky in life. Glad you’re in that group!
Next time you are out, You have to try the hike or bike from Champoeg Park to Buttevillle. You get ice cream if you make it to Butteville :) Way less leaf blowers but still short fun and pretty.
4:00 terrific job on the hair cut, Megan
You two are awesome..!!!!!
You rock!
Hey nice vid. ever take a look to Vaan Yachts from the Netherlands?: Aluminium, Multihull, and Catamaran of the year 2024......
Fantastic
Thankyou
Lol my house is in the background... cool beans.
Nice to see you back, been wondering if you got too burned by the recent euro situation, anyway I like the sound of a perf cat in the works!
Hello, I wonder if you folks are ok. It has been a while since your last update.
Just fine thanks! Having a merry time. Waiting to bring you some good news and not bore you with the doldrums! Appreciate the note.
I understand what your going through . Ive been looking for a 40 ft Cat during the last 2 years. Right now the prices keep going lower.
Hope all is well…please post something soon
fingers crossed for you and at last
Hope the boat works out! Bummed if you end up in the South Pacific because it’s less likely we’ll cross paths again
Never know…
FINALLY, you've got that boat! 🎉 about aluminium boats - just a thought - perhaps someone could contact Sika and ask them if they could develop a coating for the inside of aluminium boats?! Somethind like what they do when you waterproof a bathroom before tiling etc.
Another great video, very helpful with where I am at in my life too. I too feel like if I go back to living in a house (I live in my truck camper, mostly camping in nature), I'd get to that place where I've done everything and am ready to go elsewhere. But with that, how do you see it in 10, 20 or 30 years ? It's hard to picture it into old age.
For aluminum, my camper has an aluminum roof and one issue is that it accumulates sun heat and by evening, the entire structure heats up so much that it stays warm through the night. So I am curious to see how Delos solve that, if they put a special paint to reflect sunheat.
As long as it’s fun…
Oh, and don't get me started on leaf blowers...!
A Ranger Tug/Cutwater AND a Sabre in one episode! We loved our Ranger Tug, but the Sabre is a whole other level of beauty and beast. Tell Uncle Tom his yacht is gorgeous! Also, the need for speed is real. 🤙🏼
yep we were eying that Tug. Perf!
@@TheOKellys We had ours moored in Newport Beach, she definitely turned heads down there!
Hi Guys,
Maybe I missed it from earlier videos - but considering all the let downs trying to get a newer cat - why did you sell the old one?
My guess is that the boat’s in New Zealand?! Hoping it is in French Polynesia so we can see you sooner!
I’m not a sailor and have no plans to be one but I just love you guys!
Once you go fast you never go back! Looking forward to the new boat. See you out there! SV Zia
So, I always thought our first boat will be aluminium... dropping a metal object inside an aluminium hull resulting in corrosion was not on my radar whatsoever, and now a 2nd hand boat from aluminium will probably feel like a ticking time bomb. I subscribed, after watching Nick do some repairs on Clarity, because I want to watch and learn from people living the dream. Amazing that you can be on land, and still teach us valuable lessons. Thank you,
$100 its the Windelo 54 thats been for sale. 🤞🏼
Fingers crossed. And for aluminium, there is Barefoot Doctors Sailing channel too
Sailing into Freedom (Plucky) is building a Aluminum Performance Catamaran for that race around the World using no Fossil Fuels. I think it’s being build in Greece, but it should be exciting, especially the race! I can’t wait until everyone is back in the water, I’m not one of those people who like to watch repairs, I think I can probably do most of them by now!
We were trying to figure out where at on the Willamette River you were until you said Lake Oswego. I grew up in West Linn! Cheers from a fellow native of Oregon. We love your channel and we’re looking to move our family onto a boat full time in the next 18 months.
Down by the rowing club. Good luck on the journey!
You're absolutely right! When sailing grabs hold of your heart it just won't let go. I'm over the hill in the winter of life and still pine for the open ocean. My knees are shot and my stamina is laughing while my spirit thinks I'm 30 again.
we are stuck at about 27 years old...hope that never fades... Cheers.
It was my understanding that a performance boat is not on the hot list anymore!
Congratulations, I was thinking you would never get on a boat again. 🤩🤩🤣🤣
⛵⛵
Nick, you have been through the wringer this last year or so.. your credibility has been questioned, but you don’t give up. You continue to pursue your dreams with your head held high. So sorry about your couple of experiences with the Outremer in Australia and the following Atlantic crossing. Only wishing you lots of success.
Thanks!
I've always called them "leaf blowers," but "yard blowers" might be more accurate. Looking forward to seeing the new boat.
Something tells me there is an Australian element to this - I saw you at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast today. Stood right beside you at the traffic lights. I was going to say hi but you two were chatting away so nicely and animatedly that i didn't want to intrude. I hope your Aussie trip is going well
Were we talking about Swedish meatballs? lol. You shoulda said hi! We love it here. Have decided not to buy a boat, but take that money and buy a 3 sq m lot in Coolangatta. Cheers!
@@TheOKellys I hope you folks build a Schionning , although its probably seawind , since you know , the australia connection.
Delos is building an aluminum catamaran in Australia and it looks pretty damn badass. Lightweight, strong, custom. Not a bad idea if you can't buy a boat you like.
So good to hear about your life and the possible new boat. Did you know there are only two kinds of people? Those who are Irish and those who wish they were. All this time(80 years) i thought Daniel was Irish.lol
I would venture to guess the effort to "shake out" the problems of a custom designed boat are at least as challenging as those of a new boat made to pre-existing plans.
OK OK ENOUGH with the singing, stick with the sailing your better at that, lol. Really love your channel.
If you make it down to Bend, I would love to buy you a coffee.
Ha! Freezing in the PNW 😂. I moved here because its the warmest place in Canada! While it isn't the Bahamas, it isn't Montana or Alberta either. So glad to be here....and there is great boating as a bonus. Not saying I wouldn't mind a boat in the Bahamas, but the PNW is a pretty easy life.
Steve dashew is one of the most iconic boat designers and sailer .steve went from a 78 ft beauwolf monohull and designed motorboats and retired on a motorboat built in new zealand .
Why do I feel so excited about a boat I haven't seen, won't own, can't sail, or even set foot on??? 🤣
Did you guys notice the potential of those electric bikes? We are big electric mountain bikers and commuters! We are not sailors, but have been plotting for years. We've always assumed our electric bikes would come with us sailing and essentially be an extension of the dingy to access anywhere within, say, 50 km of anchoring.
Love the electric bikes! Evens the playing field. We've had lots of bikes on boats over the years. Not practical to bring in the dinghies we've owned. Also, really tough on the bikes to have them stored aboard. But so much fun!
I miss the good sailing music, like the time you had the 360 cam on the mast. SV Delos is building an Aluminum CAT...
We are working towards selling our Lightwave 45 soon. Liveaboard and proven bluewater setup. East Coast Australia. If your current contract falls through...
How about doing fitness vids on new boat?! I know…but yours would be done funny and certainly not toointense. Excited for ya’ll!
Guaranteed. Getting back to it!
Hey guys. Greet to see you are doing well. Something struck me from the video. First I remember Nick mentioning the desire to bike accross Europe. And then in this video Megan mentioned “we are 50, we have time.”
If biking across Europe is really a thing you both want to do, it’s something you should do when you are still young enough to do it somewhat comfortably.
I know you got salt in the veins. But now is the time for that “side adventure”
Just know, I would totally watch the shit out of it. Not just for the adventure, but you “hosting” that adventure.
I’ll continue to watch whatever you do. But if it’s one thing I learned from watching you guys, it’s to follow where you dreams/desires take you.
Just my 2 cents. Dig you guys. Now if you excuse me it’s off to the local Mexican market for a glorious buffet of deliciousness.
Thank you that is so great to hear! Enjoy that delicious Mexican buffet, we’re jealous!
So what’s up, new boat? Anyone, Anyone..?
Have a look at the Long Reach Catamaran, also the Barefoot Doctors Sailing new Portofino Aluminum Catamaran. Whatever boat you end up with, I really with you both all the very best.
Are there any Portofino Catamarans as of today?
@@angela1984a Not that I know of yet, there are several that are in the build process now.
@@spacewalktraveller1 They've said in previous vids that they don't want to buy new because of depreciation. And why would they pay for a totally new boat from a completely unknown new little boat builder in Dubai?(!)... Doesn't sound at all like it's something fiscally conservative people like these two would do...
@@angela1984a People who like boat look at all sort of boats, I look at mega yatchs even though I can't afford them. Just like people who love cars look at all sorts of cars. The two builders I said were just for their information. Did I say they should buy these?
I sure hope this boat actually comes through for you. You’re well overdue for the law of averages to end up in your favour.
👍!
I have no idea if the boat fell through, or what your budget is, but if it did, and you have 800k laying around, the baddest 47' Neel just came up on the market. "Supernova" is a 2022 Neel that is set up with everything you could ever want in a cruising boat. For the one time low low price of 815k! lol
Hope y'all are well.
Saw a video about build quality on Neels. But that vid has since been taken down, so don't really know what to make of that...
Hahahaha - I'm also related to Daniel Boone! His (younger?) brother, apparently? Something like that. But boats! Hope you land that dream boat soon and get back on the water!
That’s so cool, nice to meet you cousin!
Please let it be it
