    You didn't even mention his success rate on onside kicks. Probably the best onside kicker of all time. NFL literally changed kick return rules because of it.

    Yea...... Pat McAfee is all decade team and was just nominated for 2025 HoF entry. This is his second time being nominated. He will likely be in the HoF on his 3rd nomination.

      McAfee has said himself he shouldn't be in the hall of fame. He's nominated along with Shane Lechler, Gary Anderson, Josh Cribbs- all guys more deserving of the hall.
      Nominations are based solely on media votes, so being a media personality he likely got a nod from a friend, not a serious bid. I don't even think he made it to being a semifinalist.

      he’s already said shane needs to go in first before he would ever even consider saying yes, and he thinks the reason he was nominated was for the powers that be to put him the the hall as a media contributor in the future

      I think hes going in for his combination of being a legitimately great punter and his contributions to the game via media combined. I doubt he would go in as a punter alone, but he was a great punter regardless

      Oldhead here. I don't hate Pat at all for his energy. I hate his occasional piss-poor takes, but not his enthusiasm for spreading those terrible opinions.
      He was one of my favorite special teams players during his career. He could kick (all sorts of ways: kickoffs, onside, punts, field goals; you name it), he could throw, and GOTT DAMM he could tackle in the open field.

      I’m an ole head and yeah I hate him! He is annoying as F!!! However to each his own and if he is popular with the masses that’s cool,I just won’t watch him on TV ( I really don’t watch much anyway) I respect those who find him entertaining!!!! People who want to push their views on others are one of the problems with our world these days.

    McAfee's first headline was during a night out in the Broad Ripple night life area in Indianapolis, he was pulled out of the canal, shirtless and quite drunk. Small town PA boy, WVa grad, I think he was simply taking his Saturday night bath.

    A legend. Drafted as a punter but never did in college at WVU. He was the field goal kicker. And not being afraid to hit was a plus too.

      What are you talking about? He had over 5500 punt yards at WVU and averaged 43.7 yards per punt.

    As a West Virginian I have always had a great appreciation and respect for Pat and have always felt fortunate that he chose to be a mountaineer. He has always been the perfect personality for us and I love how he keeps us up no matter what. He’s not just a great punter and sports personality he’s a great fucking person. I love how he put the spotlight on WVU bringing back our wayward son Rich Rod. It’s awesome having him back and great things are coming our way and we’re gonna take the world by storm. God bless everyone and have a safe and happy holiday season.

    Mcafee wasn’t supposed to throw a touchdown pass to the flats; he was supposed to run a touchdown through the open c gap, the c gap that Troy decided to line up in one time and one time only. The fact that this well known, basic fact is wrong makes me question everything else in this video.

    He is a person that has always pushed the edge both good and bad. The thing that he brings is you get who he is, not who he thinks you want. Sometimes that is not the best Pat but he knows that and is will willing to do better.

    When I found his show on ESPN, I was hooked! Him and his cronies are hilarious, AND know what they are talking about. But the best part? No constant commercial breaks…it’s awesome!!

    he was a top 5 punter-kickoff guy his whole career, punting stats are tricky to try to compare cause it's way easier just to bomb them when your team can't get a first down, most of the sports talking heads are nowhere near pat's level when compared to their contemporaries and none are anywhere near as genuine

    I don't appreciate Rich Eisen's show being the one on the screen when you said scripted and formulaic. That guy has the most reasoned takes out of anyone in the media and Chris Brockman is always there to spice things up.

    forgot to mention his all decade team selection and him recovering his own onside kick. His leg was a weapon for the colts. very reliable. could always count on him to pin the other team deep. onside kicks, tackles, fake punts, team morale, and pinning opponents deep. easily top 5 punter ever.

    I think Pat will get in the Hall of Fame. He's been nominated 3 years in a row. They will get him in at some point on a technicality of "Contribution to Sport" via his show etc.
    I love Pat and his show. I don't care what the haters say. I enjoy it

    I like him alot. Its actually fun when he's about to talk and you can see his eyes dancing around to complete a half confused expression. Its an internal squabble where there's something he wants to say or do that would require a collision into the guardrails of being on mainstream media for the very large dollar that he could never earn as an athlete.

    He was never a directional ot coffin punt specialist. He said so himself. He just had a huge leg. The colts threatened to bring in a directional kicker and he had to actually learn how to punt later in his career...

    He was very good. To make an impact as a punter and kicker is very hard. He did so on a really great team also. I would say all decade team. Not HOF. But the transition is logical. He's always been larger than life.

    If Pat played in this era he'd probably have played even longer, his personality even then rubbed some people the wrong way and i remember him telling a story about how a special teams coach they brought in absolutely hated him and was part of why he bounced

    He won’t get into the hall as a punter BUT I wouldn’t be shocked if they put him in for his work as a broadcaster. The hall says it’s what you have done and are doing for the game. Pat is an excellent young representative of the league

    Shane Lechler better get in soon because in my opinion Pat is absolutely worthy. When someone revolutionizes the position they play stats shouldn't play a role, not to mention he did it in such a short career time span. Sure, onside kicks and fake punts were a thing before Pat, but his innate ability to convert sets him miles apart. I'm saying this as a Virginia Tech fan for what its worth.

    His stats for pinning people are because he was on a team with a good offense. Always punting from the 40. If he was on a bad team his net would have been better. He was literally known for having a big leg. Kicking stats gotta be taken onto context.

    McAfee was easily the VIP of the dreaded suck for Luck season, flipping fields at will. In the days he was punting for Indy and swimming drunk in the canal, he also hosted a show of sorts at a bar called Kilroy's. That was when I noticed his ability to play off the cuff and hold the room.

    My favorite Pat moment was when he "allegedly" got drunk and arrested for trying to break into a car after swimming in the canal. Pat is humorous and he spent time learning about the media spending time with Bob and Tom.
