I just test drove both CHR and HRV last sunday but I have different experience. CHR is more responsive, quieter, and much better handling.
CHR handling is very close to Subaru XV. HRV is totally not my type of handling.
I test drove yesterday chr. I admit the seat is very comfortable for daily drive or long drive. It might not kick start that fast but for highway, i got to say it is fast and stable. Well, this car is not design for drag but rather practicality.
I drove chr for a year now, and I love it. The one I have is a 1.2 Turbo. The noise from the engine is a lot lower then the video. Many people would choose over Hrv, Cx3 or Cx5. I must admit the price is a bit higher then others. But I enjoy the drive and style design so on. It handles well with TNGA and Sport mode makes the proformence boost, CVT is working well too. Bobby was right, those seats are very comfortable also a factor that I bought the car. I almost bought Civic but I bought Chr for my mum to have a better seating position and easier to get in and out of the car. Always love coupe and it is a coupe high rider.
Its a beautiful car. I felt its nice to drive.
i love chr bcos its tooooooo comfy!!! especially in normal n sports mode!
Hi Bobby. I've test drive the C-HR last week & I find it suprisingly comfortable & the CVT is very responsive. BTW, can u please review Nissan Navara black series. It has been around quite a while now. Thanks
Toyota suspension really nice even after 5 years. Toyota Harrier 💥
Thanks Bobby for the great review. Gotta agree with you on the comparison. It is a lifestyle vehicle that you are paying more for the style and being unique with the design of it. Whereas it is under the Toyota brand hence durability comes into the picture too. Those that purchased CHR, majority it is for the outlook of it although not much of a super bombastic features added into the Malaysia specs like the Heater Seat, Projector Headlights, Auto Parking Assist. Keep up the great work of yours!
Hi Bob, i found that HRV is very bumpy. Any idea can solve it?
ONE OF THE BEST REVIEWS OF THE CHR AND THE VEZEL...YOU ARE CANDID AND FRANK YET INCISIVELY CRITICAL
CH-R is based on the latest Toyota platform (TNGA...shared with Lexus UX) with full independent suspension (rare for Toyota) - so the price is not so bad. Unfortunately the wheels got downgraded...
The all black dashboard of the Hrv might be Malaysian market specific, because JDM Honda Hrv got brown tan leather dashboard which look much more atas.
Yeah that should be the way
Ur feet hardly fit underneath the seats of HRV because the fuel tank is located underneath it to provide more leg room for rear passengers and also, more boot space😃. Cheers
Just chiming in, the CH-R seat and seating position felt superb to me. It feels like you're sat in a zero gravity massage chair and all your body angles are perfect. The ride really compliments the seats too, just the right amount of dampening when cornering or on a straight. However, the rest of the car is just like what Bobby says, very average.
If they spec this car well enough, and bring in the Turbo engine, Toyota could position the CHR alongside the Harrier as the premium range of Toyota vehicles that offers lifestyle reliable motoring to Malaysians. But they specced it with a pesimistic manner, gave it a 1.8 generic mill and rather rudimentary specifications. It could've been a great car.
When you're sitting in the back the Hrv, it has a smaller feet space under the front seat than the Chr, because the fuel tank is under the front seats, but it has a much bigger trunk space because of that!
Hi bobby. Just one question..
Hrv or Chr?
I think the CHR's with the current drivetrain offering is merely banking on those wanting style over practicality. If it were fitted with the 1.2L Turbo, it would probably draw less flaks even with the higher price.
With the compact-SUVs market heating up, any hints of when the Nissan Kicks (or the Qashqai) or even if the Hyundai Kona would be coming here?
CMIIW but if im not mistaken the new gen Camry and CHR are both developed by Toyota USA instead of the regular Japan division, could explain the, design > practicality
For safety purpose, the passenger shouldn't rest his/her head on the side of the door because in a side crash the side airbag will deploy within that area and if the passenger used that area to rest their head then it defeats the purpose of having an airbag there. Cheers
I could be wrong, but I based on what I see in this video, these crossover doesn't offer more interior space than a City or Vios. Seem more like a jacked up hatchback, but I'm pretty sure people are not buying them for off road driving.... I guess whatever made crossover so popular is lost on me.
Exactly. What made them popular? Maybe you can read this evomalaysia.com/2018-porsche-cayenne-review-malaysia
Hi Bobby, thanks for the great comparison review!
Really wish that you could compare the CHR against CX3, because they both target the same segment of buyers (design/sophistication over practicality).
Thanks!
Junyee Leong agreed.. I wish he will do a CX3 vs CHR.. we know already HRV win regarding practicality part
CHR is CBU engine but HRV is CKD engine and that’s why the price for CHR is higher compare to HRV.
Seat with powered lumbar adjustment must be a Toyota thing. It was in the Prius.
I do own a HRV.... i do like it that it has a super strong like vaccum function can be found near to air con control panel..... i dunno CHR gt the function or not but this function really good to have as it can suck up all the heat faster than rolling down ur windows with all the dust and smell from the road.... even i do also own an Mercerdes car, i do wish it has this function in it too
Wow nice to know that!
wow really?
Yup... really a nice functio
I do own a HRV too, but i dunno such function ? Can I know where to turn it on ? Wheres the button ? Hehe
lai junrik i forgot is rear or front button.... at aircon control panel there... u try use it and if u hear the aircon suddenly suck up air in the car... that is the one
Honestly if you have a family just go for the hrv full stop
is it ok or rekomended for a test drive we hentam the engine even during break-in period...
Now new cars are very finely machined, generally dont have this issue apart from super high performance or high compression engines. Older engines are not as finely machined so needs a run in period.
Hi Bobby. Wanna seek your advice about which gear to use while driving up and down Genting/Cameron?
every single review I have seen and I have seen at least 50 videos says the CHR drive quality better
Cornering yes. But busier ride.
Are there more Cx-5 or Hrv on the road? Cause Hrv don’t seem so common on the road tho...
We can't forget about how the holda has great folding seat options
Hi Bobby, base on your experience and suggestion, if would like to choose from Honda Civic VS Toyota C-HR, which one will you prefer, and why?
CHR because its rather lifestyle-y .... not much kits as compared to Civic ...but the fun factor is there... noisy cabin thou
alright...thanks for your prompt reply. Probably need some hit songs then..haha.
@@BobbyAngmalaysia its also alot higher than a Civic
You have a gift for speech! Thanks for the genuinely informational video!
I guess I am kind of off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
The price difference is approximately 30k between this two.
Tq Bobby for the review.. but would you mind doing a CHR vs CX3 review? I would imagine both have a lot of similarities.. please.. please
Thanks... the opinion of the girl really helps. Also the reving sound i could really hear.
Would really appreciate if you make a video on how to use the sport mode driving because I’m a total beginner in paddle shift
Dude, apple to apple please, I think you should use the rs version Honda to compare it to chr Toyota.
Although there is still a gap, the gap is not that big. Personally, I think the rs version will come a little better than your Toyota. Some more cheaper.
Enjoying your vids, thank you.
Just wondering in case you could make a video on Toyota Fortuner vs. Ford Everest vs. Mazda CX5 2.2 Diesel?
Or only with the 2 first mentioned as CX5 might not fall into same category.
Thanks again.
The reason i mentioned CX5 and not CX9 is that we don't have it in my country.
bobby..is that your dotter?how old is she? got boyfren already or not?
The back seats of the Vezel are too erect and uncomfortable. On the other hand, the CHR seats are very comfortable.
the player in the CH-R
it looks even better with japanese player when its 1 piece with the casing, there is no edges, literally 1 piece with the casing
Hi Bobby, in terms of drivability and soundproofing ( especially on long trips), is the Subaru XV better?
yong ywah qayy better. Five hundred thousand million times better
Bobby Ang even compared to hrv?
The CHR tail simply looks like the CUV version of Honda Civic
Toyota much have Michelin tyres. Baru senyap bawak.
for 140k i rather go for CX3
Abel Woo hell yeah cx3 and it is aldo 10k cheaper than the C-HR.🤙
nah, its 150k not 140k, after insuranced and bla bla bla it would be 160k
Hi Bobby, How about the comparison between the Mazda Cx3, Honda HRV, Toyota CHR and Subaru Xv? Thinking of purchasing the CX3, But looking into ur review, comparison and opinion first.
Cx3 best to drive no challenge. But too small. Just too small.
Bobby Ang Thanks for your opinion Bobby. As always superb review on the CHR and HRV.
Hi Bobby...what's the brand and model of your wrist watch? I like it..!!
Its the Casio MGT or MTG forgot
Alba
Peugeot3008?any experience?
hi bobby have you driven the hybrid version of the CHR?
CX3 n CHR pamanduan dia mana lg best ?
can the back passenger seat fits 3 comfortably?
hrv is slower than chr i have tested it chr is grate hrv sucks chr is quieter that the hrv just test by fixing a rode microphone on both vehicles except. CH-R is better in every way except fuel economy and cargo capacity
I thank God, we have a "larger than usual" Malaysian reviewer in you, Bobby. Easier for me to imagine how I would feel.
toyota chr malaysian set is 1.8 right ???? u see euro chr 1.2 turbocharger and and better look exterior...shame umw !!
1.8L engine sounds like a turbocharged engine.
but it is 2 wheel drive, no ABS tho????
problem ☹️
Bobby, please do review on Altis FC 1.8 vs Civic 1.8.
HRV and CRV belong to B or C segments ?
HRV is based on Jazz platform, so, it's B-seg.
Turbocharged car need more maintenance?
So true. After 2 turbo cars, i want to stay away real bad
i think chr design looks nice for the first time, but after some time its started to get boring.
Is Bing Bobby's daughter, don't judge me they look very similar!!
for the sake of style I dont mind giving up practicality, btw we are not our friends personal taxi driver ... why so serious about the back seat passenger ;) just my two cents, NICE REVIEW BTW KEEP IT UP!
noobpen
Hi Bobby, CHR vs XV 2018, which 1 do you like more?
If buying i'd go for CHR cos stylo but in terms of refinement, the XV feels two segments higher than the CHR.
Brv with modula kit looked more maskulin and range rover wanabe.. 😁😁😁
Hey bobby, can add horn sound in review ah? Haha
I made the right choice by getting the HR-V :)
Which model is that?
Can't stand the clock on in the CHR (and almost all the Toyotas) >_<
Toyota is still stuck in the 80s in terms of clock design
Tee Lim Tan Agreed!
Haha...finallyyyyyyyyy (0.04-0.08) nice review bro Bobby! Thanks :)
Is this the rs ??
bos amoi tu dah ada pakwe ke
Bobby!!! Can you please do a Test-Drive review on the new Toyota Harrier? Pweeze~~
I already did ..... lol
I am talking about the face-lifted model that was officially brought by UMW Toyota. Not the recon model.
cc? 1.2 turbo?
Great job boss
Haha my dad's 2007 Camry has cracks on the now-sticky dash and a centre console that moves when u flex ur left leg too hard. So much for Toyota quality. Only 140k km over 11 years. You should be familiar with the interior trim issues as you mentioned in your Crown Athlete video that your Dad had a Camry of similar vintage before you got him the Crown...
Adi Chew Camry, Mark X, Harrier 2nd gen, 2nd Gen 1st batch Alphard all have dashboard crack problem.. whole piece cracked.. I'm selling recond car so yes, I know.
where is this place?
Wont spend so much on such a small car like CHR. The price can buy a Mazda CX5.
This car although small very eye catching. U spend on the design
You have to compare it to the cx-3
urghh...the fonts for CHR’s clock and temperature .. so 80s
Who''s the lady?
HRV is just too common. That’s why it’s boring. If both cars come out the same time, it will be a different perspective of HRV.
Thank you , bobby
come on bobby,do the new hrv
Bobby is like you are a lion. Look like a king sound like a king. But it move like a cat.
celica-high riding (C-HR)
daing m faisal daing muda Corolla High Rider
Corneto High Riding
I would top up a bit get better segment with more power Peugeot 3008 more luxury in n out this ch-r a bit ah Beng car looks. Cheap like those year who people modified their car from wira looks like LAN evo n everyone know it never does
From Beng's face ...she don't like the car .
Well, in comparison with HR-V and CX-3. For practicality, I'd take the HR-V... It's honda... It spells practically. But for the drive, definitely the CX-3. Also, it not so much of the fan of the CH-R design inside out. But as I've mentioned in my review, gotta give it up to Toyota for making such a bold move. It definitely created a hype and many Malaysians were looking forward to it's debut!
What so special with honda ?
Better go for CX5
C-HR is win all compare with HRV,but the price is terrible.
I would rather top up 10k to get crv
toyota always pandai, same goes to the fake stitches application in the vios
Well done!
Thank you, Bobby.
140k can almost buy volvo v40 already wei.. way nicer
RM135k only now for the pre-regs ....
HRV seat design pattern looks soo old and ugly.
like a proton seat
Hafiz ZAINAL agree,i am hrv owner the seat is super ugly.
So lucky to have the latest hrv. The leather seat is much better than previous
Over price... i will choose HR-V Instead.
Both are the same base cost
CHR
Bobby I watched your video because of you. Haha
119 vs 145
8:44 " pandai " haha yaa they really pandai but kantoi already 😂
CH-R looks like Pikachu in yellow.
TOYOTA CHR should be compare with HONDA CRV, almost same price, can't compare HRV
CRV is a higher base price and higher class, CRV compare to RAV4, the HRV and CHR are the same class, Both $22 base.
I thought u shaved ur hair 😛
