    Yes, I was wondering if you turned off the IS when shooting on the monopod?

  • @jshariff786

    How did you get identical composition on the two flamingo shots in the first comparison? Are you that fast at removing the teleconverter and reattaching the lens? Or did you just Zoom out by a factor of about 1.4 to simulate no teleconverter? If so, it's not really a comparison of the image quality with and without the extra optics, right?

    Is there a firmware update for this ? Is this the same teleconverter found in the xf 200mm f2 lens kit

    Informative, thanks for posting. I've just added an "X" to my collection of gear for alternative photography genres beyond my Fine Art Nature landscape work. This lens/Tele combo may be useful

    I have the XF 18-135mm and never was really happy with the sharpness of that lens. My XF 35mm and XF 14mm are RAZOR sharp in comparison. Granted, the 18-135mm is an ideal walkaround lens for the holidays, but even them I'm missing the sharpness. Would you consider the 50-140 a walkaround lens or a specialized lens for portraits?

      I have the Fuji 50-140mm and it's AMAZING quality and certainly beautiful for portraits IMO. The bokeh it's good to acceptable but not as GREAT as other portraits lenses.

    Hi Jon, great review on the TC. I would like your opinion on whether one should get a 1.4 or 2. TC to go on a 70-300mm Fuji x mount lens for bird and wildlife. I'm having a hard time deciding, some say the 2 and others feel the 1.4 would be sufficient.

    • @RayRosher
      @RayRosher 2 года назад +1

      I think Jon pretty much answered this question if you go for the 1.4 you lose one or just over full stop of light if you go for the 2, then you're losing 2 full stops of light.
      I assume that you're asking about the 70-300 f:4 f:5.6,
      if you think about it, you're turning the f:4 wide open at 70mm into roughly an f:5//5.4 and the F:5.6 into and F:8 at 300mm, this is with the 1.4 converter.its worse with the 2x times converter

    So the question is.. is sharper the 50-140 2.8+ 1.4x tc or the 55-200 4.8 ?

    not sure what you think but to me, all those images looked quite soft??

      Could be the 720p max resolution combined with YT's video compression

    Hello, Mmmm. Actually I am more on landscape and wide life photography. I am taking a deep brain war if I will go with 50-140mm or 100-400mm which is on sale right now. 50-140mm is now 1300US$ and 100-400mm is 1400US$. I am now confused about which one should I get. Please advise my friend.

    What monopod is that?

  • @jamesm9560

    My full frame friend said that APSC does have any zoom / crop / magnification compared to full frame. He says my Fujifilm 100-400 isn't a 600 equivalent since it's not a full frame lens converted for use on a APSC lens. What do you say?

    • @Minoltalphafan
      @Minoltalphafan 2 года назад +1

      An APS-C camera crops the image by, normally, 1.5x. So that a 50mm lens will give you an apparent focal length of roughly 75mm on an APS-C camera.

    for this type of magnification, I would rather get the 55-200mm -> cheaper, smaller, lighter, without converter, achieving same zoom and still great pic quality

      is there any test to verify the sharpness and overall behavior of both lenses?

    would this 1.4 teleconverter make the 80mm macro a 1.4:1 in reproduction ratio?

    • @jclark1817
      @jclark1817 4 года назад +2

      Micah Yamanaka Hey, I see nobody responded to you. The 1.4x teleconverter acts on the focal length, so it would take the 80mm macro and make it 112mm macro, which with Fuji’s 1.5 times crop sensor makes it 171mm on 35mm equivalent.
      In order to make it 1.4:1 reproduction you would need extension tubes to bring the minimum focus distance closer to the end of the lens.
      All of that is meaningless in this situation, however, because the 1.4x teleconverter and 2x teleconverter from Fuji ONLY work on two lenses: the Fuji 50-140mm and the 100-400mm lens. I’m not sure if you’d even be able to physically mount the teleconverters to the 80mm macro without causing damage to either or both pieces.

      @@jclark1817 thank you Jared, you answered a question for me here. I have the 100-400 with the 1.4 and tried to attach it to my 55-100 today and was puzzled when it didn’t fit.

    Cant get over Fuji nervous Bokeh. I have a ton of fujis lenses but I've just been noticing it more and more, especially on the 50-140. I'd rather use an adapted Canon 70-200.
