- So this one is definitely a different type of video for me. I've always wanted to cover a horror topic, and this one I specifically came across recently. Lacey Games is a great horror web series I found and I can't say it enough.

Issues that the entire point of the series is based on and the series itself is meant to bring attention to girlhood trauma. You absolutely shouldn't be watching a video on a series with which the entire point of the series is to show the issues associated with girlhood trauma. It's not supposed to be glorified. It's not supposed to be pleasant. Which can make it an uncomfortable watch at times which is why it should have a warning. Having a warning on a video about traumatic issues and events isn't "worthless."

Lacey games is probably the only few piece of media that truly grips me when it comes to portraying trauma. Not saying other psychological horror is bad, I can appreciate them pretty well but Lacey games is just so raw. It’s like in the same vein as oyasumi punpun and homunculus
I agree. It shows the gritty reality of it, even if it has very creepy visuals. t portrays the trauma a woman may have to deal with growing up. And even just shows how individuals deal with trauma in general. The idea of putting some face up to avoid it is shown in this series, but many people in real life do that. Until inevitably one day it breaks down. Sorry for the ramble, but thank you for watching!

Lacey Games are the REAL girls games
Also, the reason Jay was killed off was because of mothers who complained that Jay was a bad influence on their daughters because she was a tomboy, and therefore, "not feminine enough" for a website aimed at girls. They started a movement online to get Jay removed from the site, which explains the "careful what you wish for" message from Rocio. Rocio killed Jay off to spite those parents who complained about Jay, and in the process, traumatized a lot of the kids who played on the site. This is all revealed through split second frames that show the actual online forums that the mothers talked on.
Honestly there were def some split second frames I missed or overlooked. I should’ve looked more into those for sure.

I also feel like you severely undermined the significance of Lacey's relationship with Jay. The whole point of Lacey's Makeup Parlour is that Lacey doesn't want to accept the reality of her best friend being dead, so she deludes herself into believing that she is a regular cosmetologist working in a regular makeup parlour, and that Jay is a normal client who needs her makeup done, when in reality, Lacey is a mortuary cosmetologist working in a morgue, and her late best friend is her newest client. That's also the point of what the goodbye song was. Lacey wrote it in dedication to Jay, and the lyrics detail just how much Jay's death impacted her.
I think your interpretations of the first three episodes were very solid, but you definitely missed a LOT when it came to episode 4. In some respects, I can't really blame you, because a lot of crucial information is not given up front, and can only be found through split second imagery that you'd have to pause the video at very precise points in order to find.
I'm sorry if I'm coming off too strong, lol. I'm just VERY invested in Lacey Games at the moment.
That’s fair and I completely understand what you’re saying. I do 100% agree that she is her friend, and definitely a huge part of that video is her not accepting her death. I just had some other ideas I also thought. I get why you disagree though, and I also need to get better at getting the split second stuff cause i’m kinda bad at it 😭😭. But i’m gonna try and get better.

It's fine. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with you having different interpretations, it's just that evidently, there was some stuff in the video you overlooked, like numerous split second images that reveal a ton of crucial lore elements, and had you known about them, there's a chance your theories may have been effected by them.
I'd just recommend being a little more thorough is all. Otherwise, I think your video is very solid and brings up a lot of valid points.
@@meta.ridley Yeah,the parents(probably all moms but we can't be sure about it)called Jay "queer" like it was an insult,insulting girls who wanted to wear caps and their moms buy them skateboards and go skateboarding with boys(Well,it woulnd't be only boys to skateboarding if one and then two and then more and more girls go skateboarding,so...Duh...Think about it,stupid parents!)and telling things around the concept of "If my little sweet grl want to wear sport caps and go skateboarding and stay with boys etc. sooner or later she will want to become a boy,right?" as thei girls wouldn for sure wanted to transitioning and becoming guys.,like it wuld be a bad thing and that all the girls would have liked to do it...Those "parents" didn't know a bit of what they were babbling about...
Also I theorized,in the comments of another youtuber video about Lacey's games,that the bunny without ears and limbs and his "new owner" represent both a human who wanted the bunny to be in that way to ra**d them(the gender of the bunny is not specified),and they could hardly rebel without ears or limbs to slap him,kick him,run away or else(maybe they could bite him,since they still have their teeth,but...),or a human who wanted another human to be bald and limbless to...do the same thing to them...Remember that the guy said,about the bunny,that the ears and the legs etc. were "distracting"...A curious term to use in this case,don't you think...?
Jay stated that "she'd only be caught dead wearing makeup" and you saw what happened between her dead body in the morgue with Lacey,disrespecting the will and the body of her once alive friend...
But I want to ask you:have you not seen the rotten foot under Lacey's bed when she woke up? Pretty much everyone thinks that she ki**ed her abusive uncle and hid him under her be,so she was worried about leaving her house and even her bed to fear his uncle was in some way still alive and could hurt her...
a theory i have is Rosie or Lacy was referring to a man when it said "You chose a bad dog" and she wasn't wearing clothes and was cencerd pointing to she was probably SA'd 16:13
I can definitely see this for sure. There is plenty imagery that give that idea.
Tbh the "eating her so that they can be together forever" guy is just dumb on top of being horrible ofc.

Me and my partners theory on this is that yea, Rocio is projecting her own trauma onto the game. Call me a sleuth, but after being a huge fan of TWF and FNAF I looked at what all those flashing texts in Diner were saying.
Lacey(or Rocio) suffered extreme forms of abuse from her uncle: being kept in an unsanitary household to the point of cockroach infestations in her room, killing her dog, forcing her to work and cook for him constantly and calling her a failure and beating her when she wasn't up to par, and.... well the meth and condoms explain themselves.
Also if you look in the corner of the news articles about lies children believe, you can see Rocio's deadpanned stare into the camera. So fucking creepy.
Also a little note on the character designs and how the real life characters dress. If you look at Rocio's design on the main page in Petshop and compare it to Jay's design, they're very similar, down to the raccoon tails and skater outfits.
My personal theory is that when Charlie showed up, she was more akin to Lacey. Grace was Maisey, and Rocio was actually associated with Jay at first. But slowly over time, Charlie became closer with Grace, appealing to her sociopathic tendencies and both of them pushing Rocio away.
Combine this with her declining mental health, and negative reviews about Jay for her appearance and hobbies, Rocio killed her off and cut off her own raccoon tails.
She then pushed Charlie away, leaving just her and Grace. Or perhaps.... alternately Charlier could be a distant cousin of Rocios who was also friends with Grace and simply left or moved.
Grace is shown to be a major asshole, and doesn't respect Rocio or show any concern for her whatsoever. My guess is Maisy will be the embodiment of what Rocio wanted Grace to be.
And smth tells me we'll have more info on her next upload.
But I'm done rambling now. Also, if ya like Lacey and other internet shows, I'd recommend ENA. Not much of a known story, but plenty of weird happenings, spooky mysteries, and a full fledged game ripe for theorizing on the way.

The only thing is, and maybe i missed it, but I thought Charlie only came in after the fact. Like they didn’t know the other 2 girls, just happened to be a fan of the game. Okay, the three mascots are NOT representations of Charlie, Grace, and Rocio. There's absolutely nothing in the series that supports the idea that they are, aside from the theory that Rocio is projecting her traumas onto Lacey, but even that is just a theory.
Also, Charlie was never even associated with Grace or Rocio at all. She was just one of the many kids who played on Lacey Games when it was popular, and then stumbled upon it years later, and only then did she begin to uncover all the dark and disturbing content on it, and began doing an investigation.

No, you were right. Charlie was just a fan of Lacey Games when she was a kid, she wasn't connected to Rocio or Grace in any way, until years later, when Charlie rediscovered Lacey Games, uncovered all the dark hidden stuff on it, and began to do an investigation with help from Grace, one of the site's co-founders.

I absolutely love Lacey’s Games because it really, REALLY beautifully captures the downwards spiral of somebody mentally, especially after going through something deeply traumatic. I completely agree with what you said about real life not being like little girl’s games because in the pet shop when that figure appears in the mirror it says ‘these are the real girl’s games’ which is essentially saying ‘all of the things you’ve gone through are the real things that happen to women’
Exactly. It’s a great representation of what people can set up to be a cheery world for women growing up. Though then we see the actual realities of what it’s like. Societal pressures, abuse, overly pushed gender roles, etc. It’s a great webseries that really does justice to the topics it discusses.
I’ve experienced a bit of what’s in the series.
Personally I find the statement “true art is made to disturb the comfortable, and comfort the disturbed” to hold pretty well with topics like these.
It’s terrifying to think how common these kinds of situations are that a series like this does this well, particularly with women, for the explicit reason that this many people know what these feelings are like.
“Games for girls” (*and the boys who know, We do see you, I promise) is what I see about it all the time, and ya. It is.

@@meta.ridley Oh by the way, Lacey being upset about Jay not being feminine came from (in the lore) parents complaining about Jay being masculine so they killed her off, it's an interesting piece of lore to look into
Also bc of the worm on a client, and one client being unable to close their eyes themself, we have reason to believe she's a mortuary cosmetologist. Lacey likely had no clue Jay was dead until her dead body came in to be worked on

I love to hear other people’s takes on this series. I watched the first one the week it came out, so i’ve seen all the different theories develop as more videos were released. Your comments were really interesting and gave me another perspective on some parts that i never even considered.

Lacey games is my hyperfixation so i have been watching multiple lore videos about it, and i just wanna point out at how in laceys petshop, the scene where we see the family of pigs eating they're eating flowers, which losing your virgin1ty is also called deflowering, so it also implies that she was sa'd but at lot of things also imply that, jst wanted to point it out though.

So I believe the story is that Lacey grew up being abused by her uncle like being sexually abused and locked in a cage when we get to the house we see pigs eating flowers flowers are used to represent innocence and she sees her uncle and family as pigs the reason she got back in the cage is because she grew up with all of that stuff happening to her so she find it comforting from the outside that seems ridiculous but that’s what can happen with survivors and when it comes to Jay I think that Rosio is projecting their experiences onto the games so I believe that they are trying to repress their trauma and it’s not working and trying to repress the tomboy in them so overall I think the games are a representation of rosios psyche and the way they see things as someone who’s traumatized they can get beaten down like in the diner game

This video is great ! i havent really seen any videos that focus more on the people behind laceys games (probably bc i havent watched any videos about it for a while) and i thought your theories were very thought provoking ! this is amazing for a smaller channel, and i really think that with some time you'll be on par with many well known creators :) the only thing in this video that left me wanting more was the fact that sometimes you'd bring something up (IE. an image flashing on screen) and you didn't really look into it, next time id recommend looking more into those things, then you'll have even more to talk about. overall though, i think this video was amazing ! keep up the great work, i'm looking forward to seeing future videos of yours :)

@@meta.ridley Yes!! I always love seeing Lacey video essays. I think people said stuff about the Jay part, but I don't think you touched on two of my favorite metaphors in Petshop!
The first was with the pigs eating the flowers, which I think the text onscreen shows well that it's about the abuse her uncle subjects her to. But the flowers being eaten specifically make it a metaphor for SA, with flowers often representing a girl's virginity and innocence.
Also the cage scene -- I never took it as her wallowing in her sorrows, but a greater representation about how even when one is physically out of the abusive situation, it may be almost bittersweet if that's all you're used to or if the abuse was from a loved one. That's why it "hurt comfortably"

Yes that’s one thing I for sure missed. I had another comment thread about it on here. I think it’s a combination of both in a way.
Fun fact : this was actually based of a real incident we’re a girl who was Stalker who was killed by a man and she was r*** by her evil uncle who had killed her parents and kidnapped her and was sexually by her uncle and in the night I think she m******** her own uncle and I all notice something about Lacey all the characters has super bright colours and she is only character having darker colours and I saw in the Lacey pet shop she not allowed to say no because all the players in the game are super rude and evil too her and in the update when we skater jay a flash will appear of them fighting and I think she was the one I was communicating too the viewer on Lacey warbale and in lacey pet shop there is a character named in which is named is in which could mean that the guy could be her uncle and in the next when lacey gets into the cage she has a strange comforting in the cage so which could mean that the uncle could have killed her angle which is sad or maybe be she was trap in the cage when she was little and may in the next update there maybe a chance where we can save her and in the bath tub it’s may have showed maybe her uncle had drowned her mom in the bath tub or r*** or murder her in the next scene she lights her self on fire which how she’d had die that’s all I know sorry everyone

I saw it but I avoided showing it in the vid. But i did miss out on what it proved tbh. I’ve tried to get better
I will say that you seemed to miss the implications in Lacey's pet shop that her uncle killed her dog. There's a lot of stuff that makes it really clear that her uncle was horrible abusing her (both in Lacey's diner and in Lacey's petshop) and there's a specific split second text during the pig scene where she gives a very scathing speech directed at her uncle about how "she always knew he was a pig from the moment he touched her to when she found herself stepping over the remains of his skin glued to the floor" and that he "made a mistake" when he "took her angel away" There are also random flashes of an image of a dog that appears throughout the video. and then the part where she goes "my sweet little doggy. my little angel. I couldn't take it anymore. you could hurt me all you'd like but you weren't allowed to take it from me" as well as the song at the end of the video I think it all points toward him having horribly abused her, but then he went too far when he killed her dog and so she snapped and killed him. And that's what I think the thing under the bed was. It was the corpse of her uncle that she shoved under there. And the reason i think she was afraid to leave is bc A) she was afraid to see him and face what she'd done and B) she was afraid she'd get in trouble
I completely missed this stuff at the time. You can see in the comments a lot of people did put it out that’s completely my bad. Some of it was me just forgetting to mention, but most was just me missing frames. I’m seriously considering if there’s ever a new video to make a refined version with fixes about stuff i missed. You’re right about that stuff fr.
You may already know this, but if you pause the video and hit Comma, it takes you backwards a frame, and hit period to go forwards a frame.
This allows you to go frame by frame to see what is popping up and disappearing quickly! It might have made looking for the cooking game text thing easier for ya

I feel like you misinterpreted Lacey's actions a LOT. She didn't think Jay needed to be more feminine. She was her best friend, she'd NEVER force her to be something she isn't.
You can think so. I just feel like it was more of a projection. She is her friend and cares about her. But through some mental gymnastics she doesn’t accept her less feminine features.

But what I don't understand is WHY do you believe that? Do you really think Lacey has the same mindset as those toxic mothers who couldn't accept Jay for not conforming to traditional gender expectations? She puts makeup on her because she's trying to get her friend back by making her corpse appear "more feminine" because it was Jay's lack of femininity that resulted in her death in the first place. It's the "bargaining" stage of the five stages of grief.

Honestly, I agree with that 100%. I just feel like you did a very weak job of establishing in the video that what Lacey preaches isn't a reflection of how she really feels.

hm? I expressed how it was related to trauma that women go through. I just wasn’t as in depth as i could’ve been in the nightmare part. I missed some frames and that’s completely on me. Though I did connect a lot of it to women related trauma, and how society puts these pressures on them. And also how kids growing up have to deal with awful societal pressures and wrongs as well.
