    In this video The Paramedic Coach explains sinus tachycardia, which is a fast heart rate. He shows the EKG rhythm on the Lifepak heart monitor and why a patient may display this heart rhythm.
    This is a great review for EMT and paramedic students preparing for school or getting ready to pass their NREMT exam.

    Im (young) in my 20s and my heart rate will be in the 120s sitting down calm. When I stand up 130s and when I walk 140+ I have been to E.R they say my heart is fine and that I have anxiety even when I'm perfectly calm. What can I do to lower my heart rate.

      Hello, I come with the same doubt. I am 24 years old and I have had sinus tachycardia for more than 1 month, around 120 bpm at rest. They last all day and I can't calm them down with anything, even at night they regulate a little. The doctors tell me everything is normal but I know this is not normal.

      @@Onilinxx Yeah for me it will go away for a day or so usually something else will take it's place anxiety wise then it will come back. My best advice is to not check your pulse at all and eat less it will lower your heart rate. Another thing would be waking up and sleeping at the same time preferably sleeping at night.

      @@Nickkl2000-pc9ovmy doc prescribed me metoprolol 25 mg twice a day with telmesartan 40 mg. My heart rate is always above 120 and if go outside or exposed to sunlight, it increases around 150. The medication is not helping much in some situations but mostly it reduces my heart rate to 90s-100s.

    Good idea with the 12 lead. Anyone and everyone can get a 3 lead. But everyone below 60 or above 100 should get a 12.

    Just had an hour and a half of my heart beat going from 80 to 120 to 180 that lasted over 1.5hours I felt so weak numb electrified so I put my oximeter on, my heart felt like coming out of my chest then my oxygen went down to 70 which made faint not knowing how low my oxygen went and my BPM high.. I was just browsing fashion websites... I'm still trying to recover how exhausted I am it happpeens often these days but hospitals don't want to see me..I have many medical conditions HYDROCEPHALUS, epilepsy, general dystonia that is too severe I have hypoxia as a result of restricted airways due to spasticity..they suspect MiTo disease but they wouldn't even want to test it or treat what conditions they already confirmed 😢😢

    there was a time where I was just sitting down in my doctors office just for a normal check up and when they checked my heart beat it was sitting at 154 then slowly going up, the highest it got was 174.. wasn’t nervous or anything, even when we saw how high it was. Wasn’t wanting to go down either so we did a bunch of testing and I was hooked up to a holter monitor for a day and everything came back “normal” so they just gave me propranolol and sent me on my way. It hasn’t gone back to 170 in a while but my resting heart rate is still pretty high.

    Is sinus trachycardia nd atrial fibrillation r same or not??🤔🤔

    • @TheParamedicCoach
      @TheParamedicCoach  8 месяцев назад

      They are completely different rhythms. Sinus tachycardia is a sinus rhythm that is just too fast. Atrial fibrillation is an abnormal heart rhythm that is weakens your atrial kick and causes an irregularly irregular rhythm meaning there is no pattern to irregularity.
