Hi Donna, I just watched your RUclips video on Tomplay which I am thinking of subscribing to, never-the-less you didn't mention that when you accept the free trial it only applies to the twelve month subscription and if you print a piece of sheet music then you have already agreed to that subscription which, for some, is an issue. I'm really interested in Tomplay as I think it will help focus my Sax playing but I usually play from my computer even at gigs so I'd like to be able to download sheet music in PDF format but I'm not sure you can do that. That feature would save me time as I have to type up my must for a concert instrument: Flute as I play this also, change instruments and save as a pdf. The video, however, was really interesting thank you Steve
Thanks for your feedback, Steve. I'm going to ask you to watch my Everything Saxophone Podcast interview with #JuliaSprossman from Tomplay, where she goes into greater depth about their program. OR, contact them directly
Hi Donna, is there a way to make the score larger while it's playing? I'm trying to use Tomplay on a smart phone. But the score is so small while it plaus that it's barely usable. There is way to zoom in when the score isn't playing. But as soon as play is pressed it reverts back to the original small size. Thank you so much!!
Great Video! Does this TomPay App offer backing Tracks from groups like SpyroGyra? The song “Catching the Sun” is one piece that I have been in search of a quality backing track! Keep On Rock’n Donna Schwartz!
You would need the app on your mobile device or laptop. Check out my Everything Saxophone Podcast interview with Julia Sprossman from TomPlay. She gave a great rundown of all the features. ruclips.net/video/dR1ZqR0BA8g/видео.html

Nice job Donna! Great review. You answered most of the questions I had about the APP. Do you know, if you were using it to play with at a gig, can you create a set list and use the APP without being connected to WiFi? You mentioned no Bari Sax yet, but I suppose I could just use the Alto Sax charts.

Be careful with the yearly subscription. The do not send a reminder at the end of the year before they hit your card for another year of service. And - they don't give refunds. Deceptive business practice IMHO.
Hi Alexandra, I'm Julia from Tomplay. Thank you for your comment. It is never possible to export audio files or sheet music outside the Tomplay app in order to protect the work of our musicians and arrangers, I hope you understand this limitation. Disappointed that you don’t have the option to choose improv on all sheet music! Also disappointed that there is an option for Christian music but yet basically just Christmas songs on the list! 😢
I've used tomplay for a couple of years and really enjoy the variety and backing accompaniment
Thanks for sharing, Tate. :)
Great explanation. I’m getting bc of you!
Thank you very much for your in-depth explanation! I play Viola and I just got the app. Thanks again!
Thanks so much Donna!..
Love Tomplay!! Use it for violin and guitar. I was already enrolled, but I learned more about some features from your video.
Glad the video helped 👍🏻

Donna that is an awesome in depth review. Thank you. Can you scan in paper sheet music on this app?
I have not tried. Contact TomPlay to ask, but also as a request if they don't have that capability
Thanks for sharing , i'm going to give this app it try . Do you think this would be suitable for using at gigs ?
Yes - a few of my students do use this app at gigs!
Thank you. 🙂

@@thesaxlab Hi, have you tried it at gigs? how did it go? I might try it.
Tomplay is very nice ! The only thing I do not like is that sometimes songs disappear from the list and I do not know why …
how many jazz standards in the App please?
They add more and more every week.
Interested in Classical music only.
They have classical selections too. Take advantage if the 14 day trial to see what's available and then decide...
So I can’t record w song and share it for friends/family to hear?
Please contact TomPlay with any questions, as their app has changed a little since I reviewed it
I used the free trial but all the scores are repeated, does this app offer songs from realbook jazz or mainly pop, film, etc? so far not that impressed

Def use the Alto Sax parts for now. I just found out that YES, you can use the app without WiFi.

Can you loop 4 bars without it breaking and counting you in each time around?
You may be able to take the count off in settings.
