Me too. So addictive. I’ve beaten the depths but still experimenting with different builds. And every weapon has tonnes of individual ways you can use it and play differently from the next player. Such a deep game.
while I'm enjoying Wo Long I need to say this video shows why Nioh is still best for many of us, the amount of techniques both defensive and offensive and the freedom how to use them is what makes Nioh great. I hope the next Nioh or Wo Long style game by Team Ninja takes Nioh as the core design and adds some of the cool things of Wo Long to that formula instead of going for simplification.
When I was replaying Nioh for this footage, the intricacies of the gameplay combat brings me back with the amount of freedom and complexity it has. That sheer level of mastery is something that I enjoyed practicing while learning new things to experiment. I would say that Wo Long is easier to enjoy with lesser requirement of mastery, accessible difficulty and smooth animations, but it doesnt hit the same due to its simplicity (especially in movesets). Long Sword managed to have a fair balance with its movesets, and I would love to see that same treatment with other weapons.
Yeah, I was talking with some people about Wo Long and they kept saying it wasn't that different from Nioh 2. It's one of those things that, until you go back and try it again and you remember all the little things, you don't realize just how different they are. Wo Long is more an extension of the Strangers of Paradise systems than it is the ones from Nioh.
I think it's because you have to internalize so many things in Nioh so you don't actually think about them, they are just reflex. And that makes it easier to forget about them til you go back.
Nioh 2 is just incredible. I really, REALLY want to like Wo Long because I love the three kingdoms, but the lackluster combat simply made it impossible for me to do so.
@@LasttoLoad can you tell already if wo long will get the same treatment after all the dlcs and patches as nioh 2 and become something that highly regarded or at least be of that essence (sorry if my question is lackluster)
Wo Long need only deflect skill to win, but in Nioh you must be a pro to win a stage because almost boss are hard, high hp and high defense, lot of moveset 😢 Nioh 2 is harder than Wo Long 😢
nioh 2 is extremely grindy, tiring, unnecessarily difficult type of a game. Wo long is slick, fast and simply way more fun. The power to deflect lets you go toe to toe with bosses.
I went into Wo Long with the same character i did in Nioh 2. Mezuki's aggressiveness makes me think he hasn't forgotten how I killed him in thag game...
Great job man! The excellence of Nioh 2 does not need to be reiterated. On the other hand, Wolong has gradually become more interesting in recent updates. I look forward to what it will look like after DLC3.
I remembered that Mezuki is immuned to wood/water/metal elements in Wo Long (only way to apply is to have an element resistance penetration from a weapon stat). Please do not replicate what I did 🤦
This is why i love Wo Long more, its as deep but less complex thanks to a reliable and satisfying parry mechanic that allows you to choose between rushing down opponents with attacks or take a strategic approach and intertwin you aggression with perfect parries. Unlike Nioh where it's mainly about overwhelming with abilities and learning a few enemy moves to get some openings to bombard them
i should also leave a mean comment so.... hmm.... despite all your combat creativity you still have no fashion sense nor character making skills, you should take some lessons from xMizu
Little late but it is so satisfying to deflect his cheap grab cause he used to spam that move in nioh 2 in my case on dotn like 5-6 times continuously and I was like stop! In Wo long I deflected that grab and it was satisfying!
was thinking that they are going to tie the nioh/doa/ NG/ universe to wolong but they only put that, hoping that they add a npc or someone related to the other games traveling to wo long zones in that age :(
Amazing Nioh play! You made quite an effort to make the Wo Long play cool too! And the sad thing is I know the Wo Long battle would be even easier if a player just stuck to spirit attacks into fatal blows. You had to go out of your way to showcase Wo Long moves whereas Nioh moves are almost required.
the difference is that nioh requires more mastery in controls, to this day I can't change between stances at the same speed as the Asians and he can lol, but wo long's combat despite being simpler has improved with these latest updates, It's still a good game but Nioh is a masterpiece.
@@douglascelestino6597 Yup, but there are two problems. 1.) that it took this long for Wo Long to become passable since launch when it was bad and marketed as from the people who made nioh when that was not true. This is the director's first game ever and it shows. I don't think people generally consider the game to be decent until DLC2 happened. The problem with Wo Long remains that what it added is not necessary. It was never balanced right. Martial arts and spells are significantly inferior to the normal style which is: normal square attacks to build spirit meter. Then spirit attack to bring down the enemy gauge for fatal blows. That way is safer, stronger, and faster to play then trying to incorporate the bells and whistles. To be fair, you can also play Nioh without changing stances, without doing many combos, just playing locked in a single stance and using a single skill, in fact this is the gameplay used by most players, where they focus more on build power than improving its use in combat mechanics. wo long: martial arts are now more useful, consume less spirit and cause more spirit damage, basic attacks are still effective but martial arts are now better, and weapons such as spear, staff, glaives can cause an effect called breaking of armor that when caught on the enemy will cause them to be stunned, enabling combos. Now there are 6 martial arts per weapon and 8 spells to use, and you can use everything during a sequence of combos.
@@ninjasouls743You can play Nioh super basic, but it's generally less effective than using everything the game lets you use. This video servers as a great example, he completely shut down Mezuki for 15-20 seconds with careful control of Confusion that wouldn't really be possible to this extent without making use of Jutsus, GS, Cores, and Arcana (which in turn basically requires using multiple stances to access the skills you put them on + ki management). They're brothers. Just close your eyes and pick one. There are getting to be so many of these type of games that the market will become saturated with them, and people will burn out from them, they're similar games, just pick one, or better yet, get the one that is old, but still considered newer - a la Nioh - and get it for a cheap price. I am personally waiting for BlackMyth Wukong, but they're all similar to me. I appreciate this video because I thought that Wo Long was the forgotten one of the bunch, I have both games, but I don't play them anymore. Sick of having to go all of the way back to the beginning of the area every time that you die.
Wo long was not for nioh players and ive been saying it since its release Good game just not nioh and whether you like it or not nioh pulled off way more than wo long did even the first game not to mention the difference in difficulties Niohs mad harder, yea ik its not all about that cause Wo Long has some nice visuals thats a bit better but TN shouldve stuck with the formula Then again RotRs getting ready to come out so hopefully its more of a return to what we loved
imo Wo Long has better core mechanics. Mainly because the Posture based systems in sekiro is miles better than the Dark Souls formula when it comes to making combat engaging But it lacks the variety and depth the Nioh 2 had. Improvements to to a Wo Long successor would surpass Nioh. TEAM NINJA. DO IT.
When a game as marketed as from the "makers of Nioh" comparisons are inevitable. Your argument doesn't fly. People wouldn't say that garbage that you just tried about Bloodborne and souls games.
The director for Nioh 1 and 2 (Fumihiko Yasuda) is working on Rise of the Ronin, while Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long had different directors. Hopefully Rise of the Ronin will be of similar quality to the Nioh games.

Then again RotRs getting ready to come out so hopefully its more of a return to what we loved
LoL lol 😂🎉😊 amazing😮
imo Wo Long has better core mechanics. Mainly because the Posture based systems in sekiro is miles better than the Dark Souls formula when it comes to making combat engaging
But it lacks the variety and depth the Nioh 2 had.
Improvements to to a Wo Long successor would surpass Nioh.
TEAM NINJA. DO IT.
Wo Long and Nioh 2 are two completely different games when it comes to combat, please stop with the comparisons.
When a game as marketed as from the "makers of Nioh" comparisons are inevitable. Your argument doesn't fly. People wouldn't say that garbage that you just tried about Bloodborne and souls games.
They just need to make nioh 3 already. Team ninja games after nioh 2 been disappointing
They are trying new things, and I think they have gained much experiences with these new games.
The director for Nioh 1 and 2 (Fumihiko Yasuda) is working on Rise of the Ronin, while Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long had different directors. Hopefully Rise of the Ronin will be of similar quality to the Nioh games.
Sloth user spotted
:weirdyasuda:
might wanna get your eyes checked, nioh mezuki was never slothed
@@Angels-Haven he meant the lighting element debuff which has the same implication as sloth.
they said sloth and you didn't use sloth 🤷🏻♀ @@LasttoLoad
@@Angels-Haven you know what, you are right. @batmanvk need to have his eyes checked 👀
Wolong combat is superior get over it
Amazing playstyle!
Thanks!
I can't enjoy nioh 2 the same way i did in nioh 1 after completing wo long first 🥲
yea, nioh has its own pace of combat compared to nioh 2
Good video and you show the perfect picture for both sides of these masterpieces!✨and I understand what people feel about nioh but the fact is they don’t have to be negative about wolong cuz I really enjoyed that game from day one so I really know how they change the game in every possible way! Although I feel happy with every time teamNINJA released game cuz I trust them and they don’t disappoint me once!🫡
