      This is almost certainly a callout to Once Upon a Time in the West -- there's a massacre of a family early in the movie that happens after the bugs go eerily quiet. That movie is one of Vince Gilligan's favorites.

    This scene is a masterclass in sound design. The delay between the gunshot and its sound echoing through the hills. The contrast between what Mike can hear of the execution vs what it actually sounds like to everyone there. The cicadas in the background that you get used to and then are suddenly silenced. And not a single line of dialogue necessary.

And thenthey had to quickly beat it once they’d sounded the horn, as there’s no sign of anyone as far as Mike can see, and he can see pretty far.
    2:54 could be the vehicle arriving where Mike’s car is parked, and 3:14 is them getting turned around so they can drive straight away immediately after the horn sounds. I imagine they arrive, take a moment to ascertain Mike’s location, then get turned around to flee.

    Hardly it was Gus himself who pressed the horn with tree branch and wrote the note, probably Victor or Tyrus, but Gus gave the order of course. Gus operated his drug business very carefully and cautiously, he did not like to be personally involved in minor tasks. He did not mind to wipe floors and serve customers in his fast food place though. I think he would have been successful manager and owner of legit business, but of course with less money and power over subordinates.
    He made only one mistake in whole Br Bad @ BCS years : He had personal vendetta against Hector, he liked to keep him alive and torture him mentally. Finally, when he suspected that Hector talked something important to DEA agents, he decided to hill him personally even though Tyrus could do it and he even offered it.
    If he would have kept his principle : dont mix personal feelings with business, he probably would have survived. Walt was excellent chemist , but not much of the assassin, he almost screwed up with bell bomb .

      @@VolkaerTheir skulls wouldn't be the problem - marksmen don't actually go for headshots IRL. You pretty much always aim for centre mass, a shot in the chest is just as deadly and has a much better chance to hit. But yeah, same issue with trying to penetrate through another person.

    • @taffy4442
      @taffy4442 26 дней назад +1

      I think he was a cop a lot longer than he was a soldier. Many old-timer cops use revolvers. Easy to carry and conceal, less likely to jam, and doesn't eject the brass after firing. They regard the limited rounds and smaller caliber as unimportant. Even someone taking regular target practice isn't going to use a pistol unless they're very close to who they're going to shoot. Mike isn't a blast away in the street kind of guy. When he uses a handgun, he's usually right there by his target, and he only fires once.
