@JakeZweig , Man I appreciate your approach not only for putting in work to become a seal, but like how to think about the going after these difficult goals and dreams. I'm in medical school now and I find your videos generally motivating for my process as well since this environment requires you sacrifice and strain through hoops and jumps to get to the final goal over many years time, and failure leaves nothing to show for it. This video really stood out to me because like enlisting and immediately becoming a seal as mentioned here, docs have an idealized pathway of 4yrs college, 4yrs medical school, and then residency, but it's not the best or most attainable pathway for everyone. I struggle with comparing myself to that standard and everyone else around me, but I see I'm neglecting what payout I expect to receive for the grind I'm enduring and for those that sacrificed for me to be here. I also got that If I'm so focused on that plan as opposed to the process of reaching the goal, I can fall to the illusion of failure with the breakdown of that plan when the plan may have been the only thing that needed to go so I could embrace the process to achieve the goal. I'm not sure everybody heard you about your personal experience through BUDS man, that because of who you were you were dished out extra unscripted and unplanned punishment with 4k on your head and you ate it to become who you are. In any field of endeavor, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong…..Murphy is about to unleash hell on this kid. When I went thru the Marine Corps version of this I was selected to go the MARSOC route out of SOI due to PT scores and what not. All I was told was it was awesome and I would be doing cool shit and be promoted faster than my peers that didn’t go this route. I was fine just being an 0311, but that sounded good so I screened. Did all the psych stuff and about 2 days worth of things. This guy needs to throw that future shit out the window and grind. Worry about nothing other than getting to where you want to get to. Then when you get there, worry about everything else……and he has to be an idiot wanting to go enlisted. My god.
The respect that Mustangs that one hears about is going to be your CPO and SR NCOs who instead of taking a promotion to E-7 etc commissioned instead. Usually for one of many reasons. If you enlist and then seek a commission 2-3 years down the road, people won’t necessarily see you in the same way as the service member who commissioned after 10 years of being enlisted. The biggest risk is that you leave a lot to chance in those years that your enlisted
@@jakezweig I agree and I am not certain and correct me if I am wrong but in the Navy when an enlisted sailor seeks a commission he or she is restricted to certain career fields?

Thank you were are trying we have a monster coming up!!!!!!!!!!!
This kid will probably go on to be successful at something. Which is why it's important to hear this from Jake. I would be one angry SOB in life if after I graduated college, I was stuck on a ship doing a crap job. That lesson could be learned a much harder way. I know at that age, I was susceptible to making poor decisions.
Please let them know
Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans. Not a Lennon fan but that is truth. One day at a time. A planner who cannot live in the now will never make it thru. The only easy day was yesterday is the planners nightmare.
This kid is getting good game.
Jake the way you talk is just straight up hilarious lol
“There was a bug in SOAS that straight up ate some people, shit all over themselves”
Bro I was cracking up at the tragedy of that but the way you verbalised that.
TRUE FACTS
ONE DAMN DAY AT A TIME!!!!
Sometimes seems like people aren't great at really listening.
I enlisted in 2013 at 18. I chased the dream but didn’t make it. Now I’m in university majoring in physics
BETTER OFF FOR IT
In any field of endeavor, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong…..Murphy is about to unleash hell on this kid. They picked me up and a few others in a van after we graduated SOI and roughly 2 weeks after that SHIT GOT REAL. 19 year old kid without a clue what was happening and too dumb to quit….. This guy needs to throw that future shit out the window and grind. Worry about nothing other than getting to where you want to get to. Then when you get there, worry about everything else……and he has to be an idiot wanting to go enlisted. My god.
FOG OF WAR is pitch black

Jedi immune haha awesome line
This interview was too funny. The dude said “I plan to do 12 years “ 😂 Futuristic dude!
If your a control person the military isn't for you, you don't know where your gonna be stationed when your gonna be deployed ect .
I agree, but look at the numbers.
@@jakezweig I agree and I am not certain and correct me if I am wrong but in the Navy when an enlisted sailor seeks a commission he or she is restricted to certain career fields?
I’m on the same boat as this guy. 3rd year of college but I’m going to become a seal then a pj after a few years. Then CAG. Then CIA ground branch.
I like the way you think
BOOOOOOOOOOM just saying it sounds so crazy
Is this before or after you become president in 2024?
I hope your joking. You might even be the first astronaut to explore Space with no space vessel of any kind and just alone and free.
@@justinlewis5282 I was reading your comment like was is this guy talking about then I started laughing
First reaction to when you said u had a dude running a 4:15 was damn!😂
Jakes realness is unmatched
@@NasserGonzalez-n2d this is the way
😂 brotha man about to be chipping paint like me. Lol
This kid got it aalllll figured out..needs to shut up and listen
YES SIR
I love the honesty.
FIRE
Painfully to the point..I like that
If you go to Naval Academy your chances of being a SEAL will go up. They do a great job prepping their students for BUDS. I think they even have some type of condensed hell week type event in their pre buds training
Nope 121 qualed for 30 spots. SOAS is open to everyone. Prep then hit SOAS
goddam, love the honesty bro!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nothing wrong with finding exactly what you're trying to do. The realism doesn't seem to set in with a few of these gentlemen.
No it does not
Dude should humble himself a bit, like listen up you fool, OG giving him the golden truth on what needs to be worked on for him to be successful and he ain't feeling it
Rob o'neill was a basketball player from Montana he made it to devgru
What??????? I'm going to look into that
Been watching a lot of Jake's videos over the past couple of days. Just thought I'd throw in something. If the American process of elinstment is anything like the British military, then this guy is getting nowhere near the military if he they check and see he has Keratoconus, then he most likely can't even join as at least in the medical declaration for regular branches, it states Keratoconus is a bar to entry for even regular service.
It's a genetic condition that causes the Cornea to get thinner as you age and your prescription will get worse. Yes, ICL can possibly fix/improve but absolutely no guarantee)
Good logic.. Great advise
BOOOOOOOOOM
Honesty if I was in his position I’d commission get better pay and it’s stupid to go enlisted when you had the opportunity to get a degree and got one
These shit heads drinking straight coolaid
I love your facial expression while he's running his mouth. 😂
Its hard man
Jake is great
I wish I had messaged you back when I was in the Navy.
What are you doing now?
@@jakezweig I'm doing crossfit now because I am medically retired from the Navy but I'm going to start school to get a business degree soon.
“You got your mouth on a crack pipe right now…” 😂😂😂
IT IS CRAZY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My man is not bullshittin.
