This session was recorded on 14 May 2024 on the Valheim Public Test Branch.
This series includes Glitchy and my genuine first reactions to entering the Ashlands without much knowledge at all! We were able to coordinate and play on the FIRST day of the Public Test Branch’s release so take that with its own grain of salt. It is not part of any other playthrough and is a standalone on a new world I created to help us quickly get ready and play with some Ashlands stuff, since we didn’t have a good playthrough ready to join up and adventure in together! This is a series that Glitchy and I both recorded and made separate videos for our respective channels. Watch one or both videos if you want to see Glitchy’s perspective.

Love your adventures, they are always very entertaining! The final statement of Glitchy gets all my sympathy. I can only play in Ashlands for a short period of time before needing a break. It is just so exhausting. 🙈😂
When you get your roots whipping them, don't lure the enemies AWAY from your summoned Vines. Walk in circles AROUND your friendly roots =)
Glitchy REALLY needs to learn to use that staff of protection. He'd stay alive so much longer, lol
He's just naturally drawn toward damage mage. But yeah more protection would be so nice.

i love the ashlands. the game goes from meadows (nice and easy) slowly makes its way to making the game chaotic and harder (Ash-lands) lol
Man even with ashlands tier gear that battle is horrifying to watch. Waffles was definitely close to unravelling lmao. Truly the battle of the times.
This was a very rough end to the session. We were both pretty done at that point.

Yeah, I threw the old Trollstav in the Valeim recycle bin after the first test. One angry inch of tentacle/root/vine is much better. That was chaos brain for the sake of chaos thinking.

if you like cheese - visit France. They eat if for every meal plus dessert. Lots of cheeses!
I've found the hybrid mage setup is a bit more survivable without sacrificing much eitr regen, just substitute the hood for the flametal helm, especially since there's no set bonus
embla set without the hood has the same eitr regen as the full mistlands mage set anyways
By far, the most frustrating episode so far. I don't know where you fellas find the patience to continue haha
I had to deal with that in the first days of the Public test.i found a mysterious location really quickly and hell broke loose . I feel like one of them veterans from the movies .. you don't know man you weren't there lol 😂

This was a rough adventure for you two. As a solo viking, I've found taking out the askvin and vultures first it a good tactic as it harder to kite them fast boys.

Agreeded slaps on a good honey ham sandwich.
the longboat ship is actually a bit faster (tested it myself). Drakkar is just bigger and tougher and has heat protection for Ashlands.
I do wonder if we will get more gems in the near future. There is Ruby for fire enchantment, sapphire for frost enchantment and opal for silver enchantment which adds spirit damage still to go.
Id love some more options!!

Re: American Cheese.
I've come to hate it not because of flavor (although the flavor of the American Cheese that they have at fast-food joints like McDonalds and Burger King is HORRIBLE) but because of texture.
I went to a deli counter a couple years ago, on the advice of a friend who liked American Cheese, and ordered it from there. And THAT is really good: like Colby mixed with Cheddar. But the quick version like Velveeta or the fast-food varieties really sucks.
I get that! But I do still like classic kraft or Velveeta singles! I think it's a great melty cheese flavor but yeah I get people not preferring the texture. I almost always go for a good pepper jack or something else when making food but occasionally it's good!

One of these days, if you have a Byerly's/Lunds near you, try to get some hand-made stuff from their deli counter. Really so much better! :)
Hey Waffles, last night I was playing and witnessed a serpent vs serpent fight. It was awesome. Bonemaw won of course.

2 fragments?? I have only ever gotten one at the time. even when I am playing with others.
They have the resources on x2 so it will drop 2 items on collection. I have helped several people collect them in their servers and now have 3 .😊

If you don't mind me asking, why do you guys prefer the Ashen cape with a magic build? It doesn't seem to have much benefit when paired with the Embla set. Especially when it comes at the cost of mobility, which the other 2 capes provide.
Edit: It also seems like you guys could benefit from having a backup staff of protection to keep at your house. That will eliminate the need for bringing back up gear during corpse runs, since you can just pop a bubble, put it back on the wall/chest and run through the portal.
Backup rescue bubble is a good idea for sure. And I tend to prefer the asksvin cape but more damage protection is good. Idk why I didn't make the asksvin cape here. It is SO nice.

omg have you tried summoning the troll on the monolith??? guys the troll is not THAT bad he HELPS U fight the enemy. once enemies are dead, kill the troll ... simple. youre already fighting an army of them summon the trolls. Logic: you guys aren't afraid to take on 10 2-star enemies, but you guys are afraid of the troll summon.
I'm not in control of the trollstav or else I'd have rained trolls on the whole place. Talk to glitchy about that. Either way, we did our best. Glitchy isn't used to magic and he's trying a new thing in a new biome. It ain't easy.
Must be a little too much western European in me, I would back off and regroup (with myself) when there's 12 two stars chasing me.
Is this summon troll weak 2 Pierce damage like the Black Forest troll is ? so that's why it doesn't last long? seems to be a lot of pierce damage in Ashland's.
