It time to have a app for smart phones so anyone can scan microchips and report missing dogs and cats with in the app

That would be great, but hardware is required for the scan. It would have to be something used by enough people to make it worth the while for the phone manufacturers to include.

One of the things you mentioned in your other video was having test microchips to validate the scanner (I'm assuming you'd want a chip for each frequency). Does anyone offer test chips or can you recommend a good method?

Good question! An online search did not yield results other than the test chips included with some of the scanners like Hero. Found Animals used to make a tester with chips implanted in three tiny stuffed animals. Unfortunately they sold out to 24 Pet a while back.

@@FirstStreetPets yeah, my searching came up with nothing. I was hoping someone who did bulk purchasing may have come up with a simple keychain or similar to allow testing.

Usually you can connect it with a USB cord. Open a writing app like notepad or word and place the cursor in a blank document. When you scan, the number will appear in the document so you can save it. Let me know if that works.

If your scanner can't pick up a chip with a low battery then the electronics are garbage. Throw it away.
If your scanner can't turn off itself to preserve battery when it detects it's not being used then the electronics are garbage. Throw it away.
